Pushed a kinda sizeable update to this, also finally got the missing textures figured out (I fucking hate packing materials I'm going to scream)

Small spoliery hint, there is some sort of secret in the map if you haven't found it already, and if you have I've changed it a LOT.

It's finally out! Not the finished version mind you, but the fourth WIP build, I've still got a few more things to do before I'm ready for a final release I think

Lots of changes between WIP 3 and 4, lot of detailing and optimization especially. I was getting rock solid fps on my steam deck and equally excellent on my desktop with settings turned way the fuck up. Through some black magic I've managed to make source kinda tolerate this map 😂

There's currently a handful of missing textures that I'll work on fixing this evening after I'm off work, but nothing game breaking. I'll pack those and reupload then start work on the next few changes to things I noticed when I first compiled this build a few days ago lmao

Ran a booth at the Michigan antique festival, brought along a SC sterling cartridge typer and plugged it in so people could demo the thing. It was so fuckin cute seeing the kids go for it lmao

Getting somewhere! Have a few things left to do like expanding some secret story lines under the map but this is getting really close!!! Still have some small performance hiccups to fix up but it's running much much better than before. I also don't have the best PC so that might not be helping lmao

I've spent the past several days doing some pretty heavy-handed optimization on gm_subclass prepping for final release, but I think I'm gonna end up putting a fourth WIP version up at some point just for testing. Also maybe with some secret areas left unrefined for now, so it's impossible to spoil yourself (if you can even spoil yourself regarding a fuckin gmod map let's be so fair lmao)

It's actually going very very well, there's a handful of areas that still are randomly loading in far too much of the map where they shouldn't but the vast majority are behaving optimally. Some areas where I was getting 60 fps getting like 110 now type shit, not too shabby

Also continuing with custom assets too, going to flesh those out more in the final release tho! You'll see more of those posted here as I actually finish them lmao

I'll get some good photos of the big changes I've done to the map like moving buildings around to block certain sight lines, but for know I just wanted to spill some words right before I pass the fuck out for the night. Talk again soon!

Slowly getting the hang of this shit, made this one in just a few hours so that's cool! Textures are still kinda shit but they get the job done tbh

It's a model of my own enlarger I got cheap, a nikor 67 enlarger that can enlarge negatives up to 6x7 (crazy)

Originally I'd made an enlarger for gm_afterhours for a little film minigame, but with it being brushwork it was pretty fuckin shit lmao. Imported the propper'd brush model and made a new one to scale, super pleased with how it turned out!

If anybody ends up needing insanely high-res scans of faygo bottle labels let me know lmao, this one was like 400mp on the flatbed that I scaled down so it wasn't astronomically huge on model 😂

Took a walk down an old train line that's been converted to a walking trail, always love that sort of shit

Got some nice shots of the trail, some high voltage towers, and this insanely large pile of roadway that's waiting to be recycled by a nearby plant. All shot on my sony a6k with an old nikkor-sc 50/1.4, jesus that lens fuckin slaps even with how old it is

Those moon shots btw are insanely impressive, you can even make out detail it's not like this is a telephoto lmao

I finally made a model in blender that doesn't look like total ass yayyyyyyyyy!!!

The textures do however so those will be improved eventually, I might actually take some reference pics of the actual camera it's based on and make some ps2-era lookin tex for it

I'm just glad I managed to model it decently and also get the textures working. Had put this blender project down like almost two years ago and finally started cleaning it up a week ago. Even managed to get a proper source engine collision mesh baked into it yay

Alright, and a day ahead of the deadline! Okay well I have to fix one thing I noticed a bit too late before I pass out tonight, but this is basically as ready as it's going to be!

Getting really close to the deadline and I've got a few things to wrap up, but this map is starting to shape up! Just need to put the ending bits in and make sure the loop is satisfying/my little dev room fetch quest works

This map definitely isn't as big as some of my other ones given the extremely limited timespan I had for it, and also that I started a bit late and kept getting busy lmao, but it should be pretty satisfying to explore. Should be out by Tuesday, maybe earlier if I finish up quick!

Uploaded a new album today, should be out on major streaming services soon. Lot of dnb/jungle vibes on this one, mainly using an old yamaha rm1x

The shaft grows! Trying to mess around with a few things before starting to fill out the side rooms and the shaft itself. I kinda like that freaky effect the pillars going by have as you get further down and they slowly rotate level by level

I've got some fun ideas for this map that I hope I can pull off by the end of this competition! Want this to really focus on exploration as the main gameplay mechanic, like you're surveying the shaft going level by level
