While we've put together a more comprehensive outline of the event and its rules and guidelines here, there were several important questions that people asked that we'd like to spotlight the answers to.
I’m interested in Yin Yu appreciation week and Quan Yizhen week, will the mini-bang interfere with that?
There should be little to no interference between the QuanYin Mini-Bang and Quan Yizhen week, since the mini-bang will be completed before the month of September. Yin Yu appreciation week does take place during the timeline of our mini-bang, but since we’ve given creators a long period of time to create, we hope it won’t deter anyone from participating. If the even is popular enough and we consider going for another round next year we would like to amend the timeframe to avoid both of these weeks entirely.
Are there any specific themes for this mini-bang?
There is optional theming for summer related fics and illustrations since this mini-bang will be taking place in the summer months, but this is in no means a requirement. As long as it has QuanYin as the focus that’s fine!
What if I want to go beyond the minimum requirement for fic/art?
This is more than welcome. As long as the fic is completed before the final check-in and is at least 3,000 words, it can be as long as the author wishes. The same goes for artists, though it may be a bit more flexible. As long as one piece is completed and meets the minimum requirements you’re good to go.
Will I be allowed to participate as both an artist and a writer?
Yes* writers may also sign up as artists.
*A mini-bang has lower minimum requirements than big-bangs, but creating something is still a lot of work, so anyone who is interested in creating in more than one team would need to strongly consider whether they could reliably finish if they take on two projects.
Will there be beta readers?
At the moment we do plan to open beta-reader applications at some point once teams have been created, should writers indicate they would like one.
I’m under 18, can I participate?
If you are 17+ you may apply, but participants under 18 are not allowed to create or participate in NSFW work. As the source work is rated mature (17+) we feel this is a reasonable expectation and falls within age requirements for Discord, the main mode of communication for this event. Signing up as a participant will also require sharing personal information such as emails that could raise privacy issues for minors. If you are under 17, in order to keep moderators, participants, and minors themselves safe, we ask that you please not apply, but keep an eye out for the future!
