Hi! I'd like to ask for a bit of help please. I played and finished the demo then later got the full game as a gift from my friend. I continued playing the full game with the save from the demo. I noticed that the 'Bear-Slapped!!' and 'Dandy In Distress' achievements aren't unlocked. So I replayed the game but didn't get them. I did get the achievement for completing chapter 1 though. I've already tried reinstalling the game but it didn't work as well. Help, please? Thanks! :)

Oh dear! I honestly have no idea why it is doing that. I’m also not sure I can really help you. The coding for our achievements has always been really wonky, and all I can think of is that because the demo wouldn’t have had the coding for those achievements in it the flags didn’t get ticked for them.

Unfortunately since you say you already replayed the game and reinstalled it and still aren’t getting results I’m not sure what other tricks you could try outside of making sure it was a totally clean uninstall.

I’m gonna reblog this issue on my official tumblr just to see if any of my VN coder savvey followers can help you better, and I’m sorry you’re having this issue!

I have recently bought and played Queen at Arms a few times, and though I love it, I can't ever get an ending where Nick stays with Marcus. It seems a shame since being with Nick was Marcus' goal through most of the game and can't really feel like he is a success without him. I'm so happy you made a game where you can connect with a sibling and didn't add a romance between them, but is there any guide that allows you to end the game with the brothers in the same nation?

I’m afraid not. Nick leaves the country no matter what you do, but if you’re good to him he keeps in touch with letters.

Originally he was meant to stay behind and have influence on how the alternate ending chapters played out. Sadly we just didn’t have the time to write him in and opted to focus on the romance paths.

Prints, and maybe commissions, for charity soon...

Hey, so, just a heads up: I’m planning to set up an account on Redbubble (or a similar platform) to sell prints/tshirts/mugs etc. soon and will be giving any income I get from it to charity. I may also be taking commissions for charity later this month once two major freelance deadlines I have coming up are past. If you folks have any advice on which printing platform to use, I’d appreciate it immensely. (I feel like Redbubble’s print quality is a little better than Society6’s, but I don’t know much about any others out there.) Also, if you have any favorite charities - especially LGBT-focused - you’d like to suggest, let me know. Right now I’m considering ACLU, Planned Parenthood, and TransLifeline.

How tall are the main characters?

When we first got started on the game I worked up a height chart for our artist to work from. I used Daz to make it.

You might notice the chart is missing Lori and Cesca. That’s because at that part of development those two ladies hadn’t been conceived yet. Cesca would be 5′6″ while Lori would be 5′10″.

Brevan there is actually Lucius before his name change.

Hello! I've been having problems figuring out how to get "Crown of Hope". I've sided with the Queen in Chapter 4 and tried different variations but it doesn't seem to trigger. I've had the issue with some achievements not working on my laptop but working on other computers, but I'm not sure if it's that or if I'm just not hitting it. *__* Could you please help?

I’m sorry you’re having trouble. I really wish I could help you out with a surefire way to get the achievement, but alas I cannot. We honestly have no idea why some achievements trigger and others don’t or why it’ll trigger one way for one person and then not for another.

On our end the coding is exactly as it should be. We’ve considered many reasons why this problem could be happening, and all of our possible answers (an issue with the engine we used or just something up with how steam reads achievement with that engine) are both out of our hands as far as solutions.

You’re not the only person to ask us how to get Crown of Hope though. It’s pretty consistently the hardest one for people to get. The game has been out long enough now that I feel like I can give you all some more direct advice on how to get it without spoiling you. Keep in mind however that if you have NOT completed the game there are MASSIVE SPOILERS AHEAD!

To Get Crown of Hope

When you side with Queen Charlotte you should do your best to make sure that Alastor is is declared not guilty. If you manage this then after the lines

“I’ve been told by my court that I’m just like him, and I’ve also been told that I’m much like Sir Thomas, the man who raised me.”“I am both honored and proud whenever I hear this.”“I just hope that my reign will be fruitful and that I will be as loyal to my people as my fathers.”

you should get the achievement soon after.

There it is right in the coding that should trigger to tell steam you’ve unlocked it.

This one is tricky because whether or not you’re friends with Alastor is irrelevant. You just need to be willing to hear him out and prove that he may be innocent of his crimes.

You need to have Alastor’s crown in your possession and be friends with both Rubus and Lucius. When you inform the cardinal that the crown is enchanted Rubus will back up your claims. Lucius will then, also, back you up to help you convince the cardinal that your assessment in Alastor not being in control of his own actions is accurate.

hii im not very far in the game right now but i had a question! i heard the main character is trans, is that true? :OOO

Yes and no. Regardless of Marcus’ biological gender being female, the character can identify as male or female depending on your play choices. There is no part in the game where Marcus actually transitions from female to male physically or mentally. It’s always implied that if Marcus did transition to male it happened in his childhood, long before the game actually begins.

On that same note if the player feels that Marcus is female then she never transitioned at all. She acted as male in order to honor the wishes of her father and once it was no longer necessary she reclaimed her female identity on the throne.

Q@A Deluxe Edition Upgrades Ending Soon

Hello everyone!

We just wanted to give everyone a heads up that the period to upgrade to the Deluxe edition of Queen At Arms on Steam will be ending on March 24, 2016.

By now, all those eligible for the upgrade (players who purchased the First Edition of the game on Kickstarter, itch.io, or the Humble widget) should have received e-mails with instructions on how to upgrade. If you are eligible and you have not received this e-mail, please send a message with your information to queenatarms[at]gmail.com.

Following March 24, our upgrade form will be removed and further upgrade requests will not be processed, so only direct purchases via Steam (at full price) will be available.

Curious about how long Queen at Arms is? At the end of the day we capped out at 268,300 words. That is about 895 pages (at 300 words a page).

That makes Queen at Arms Deluxe Edition around 25 pages longer than the US edition of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
