Lots of love pouring in about my “Feminist Sex Positions” joke (Clearly not safe for work so get fired then watch this shit)

A joke about FEMINIST SEX POSITIONS from my friend Liz Miele. NSFW…but only because of patriarchy.
After she came up to me and said, “I’ve been with my partner for 20 years… We would never get married because he’s on social security income, and because my daughter is disabled I have secondary income from the state to support my daughter. If I got married, both my benefits and his benefits would be reduced because we would become a double income family.” She was explaining that marriage doesn’t work for poor people, and that it doesn’t work for disabled people. Having really simple examples like hers are important.
What if the LGBTQ movement fought for prison abolition rather than same-sex marriage? (via disabilityhistory)
So true.

i’m really sick and tired of police officers being bashed. they’re not all bad people. they’re not all gonna shoot unarmed citizens. they’re not all a part of police brutality. in fact, most of them aren’t. but God forbid tumblr ever remember the good things that a community of society does instead of dwelling on the bad things. how about you target the people themselves, rather than their career. who do you think you’re gonna call if someone breaks into your house? if someone kidnaps your child? the police. be grateful that we even have a semi-functioning law system that keeps you safe, and quit bashing the police for a as a whole.
A mother just lost her son to a cop’s bullet and you care about the COPS’ feelings? GTFO.
SOMEONE D R A G H A
here’s the thing. its not just one or even a few cops. it is the entire system of policing. Even if they did not pull the trigger themselves, the fact that they protect the people that do means that they support their actions. you can say that they keep you safe because maybe they do (since it sounds like you are white a fuck) but that is no the case for black folks. Black folks call for help from the police and they still get killed.
the fact that you are prioritizing the feelings of cops over the lives of Black people really just means that you do not value Black life. You don’t see the danger to their lives and communities as important. And so can you really call yourself a good person if that is the case?
all cops are complicit in this. the genocide of Black folks is a national crisis; cops know this by the time they sign up and at least after having been doing the job for even a little bit. their decision to continue doing this work even after knowing this makes every one of them part of the problem. further, when they are not murdering Black people in cold blood, their job relies in upholding laws that disproportionately target people of color and poor people. their job relies on maintaining the prison industrial complex and keeping Black folks behind bars so corporations can profit off their imprisonment and exploited labor. there is no such thing as a good cop.

A fluid exchange of ideas between 3 generations of artists, 7 artistic genres, countless genders, and innumerable sexualities.
About me I am a self-identified working class fat brown queer femme cis man, and a first-generation college student working towards degrees in Anthropology and Women’s and Gender Studies at the University of Texas at Austin. This winter I participated in a collaborative performance art piece about fat, queer, femme experience called Fat: the Play with six other fat queer femmes in Austin. Our play won Best of the Fest at Austin’s 2014 Frontera Festival and went on to perform for two additional sold-out audiences of community members at Austin’s Treasure City Thrift. The cast then presented a panel about the play and our process at this year’s Feminist Action Project Conference at UT Austin. Another cast member and I have been selected to facilitate a workshop about writing and performing fatness at this year’s Allied Media Conference in Detroit, Michigan. About AMC From their website: “The ALLIED MEDIA CONFERENCE is a collaborative laboratory of media-based organizing strategies for transforming our world, held every Summer in Detroit. The AMC is a network of networks – social justice organizers, community technologists, transformative artists, educators, entrepreneurs, and many others – all using media in innovative ways.” About our workshop Our workshop will create a space for fat-identified folks to come together and talk and write about our experiences as fat folks and, especially, how our fatness works with our other identities. How is our fatness impacted by our size, gender, race, class, ability status, sexuality, documentation status, our geographic location, and more? We will talk a little bit about our process of writing about our fatness to create Fat: the Play as a framework for workshop attendees, with the goal of leaving them with some writing, ideas on how to perform it, and, most importantly— fat community and empowerment. Help me get to Detroit! Because I am a college student and the workshop falls during the summer, I need help getting there! The summer time is when I am supported solely by my retail job, that does not allow me to spend extra money on traveling. Though I have reached out to my university for funding, they, too, are the end of their budget cycle and are unable to sponsor me. So I am turning to my community for help! Where your money goes: $400 for travel (flight) $250 for food during my 5-day trip $150 for housing. $40 for gofundme fees The AMC is an amazing opportunity for me and I am incredibly excited for the possibility to attend and participate. My deepest gratitude for your support in any way you can give!
Hi Tumblr! I am co-faciliating a workshop at AMC this summer, but I need help to get to this amazing opportunity! Please donate if you can and/or signal boost! Thank you all for your help xoxo
Hi Tumblr! I am about halfway to my goal and that’s amazing! I still need about half of my goal to be able to attend AMC and it would mean SO MUCH TO ME if that could happen. Please signal boost and share widely! I really appreciate it. Thanks y’all. <3
We got a letter about our post that said,
Austin Zehnder and Will Frey are rapists
Apparantly Will Frey’s father, Bill Frey, the Director at a company called BlackRock, believes that the statement
Austin Zehnder and Will Frey are rapists
should not be said on a post that accompanies their pictures. We have deleted the post, but thought you might want to see the letter we received from Bill Frey, Director of BlackRock. The letter also links to an image of the original post, the one we reblogged, adding
Austin Zehnder and Will Frey are rapists
So, there. The picture of Austin Zehnder and Will Frey with the statement that they are, in fact, rapists, has been removed from this blog.

"Hello Friends and Community Members,
Some of you may know me, some of you may not. I am a woman with a disability who uses an electric wheelchair. I am also a Social Worker. I have a pug named Anabelle and a Siamese cat named Cameo. After 13 years of living and working in Vancouver, I made the very poor decision of moving back to my hometown of Montreal. I wanted to move back for many reasons: the culture, the food, to be closer to family, to work as a Social Worker in Montreal. After 13 years, the lack of wheelchair and disability access are just as bad as ever. It’s atrocious. I got into a brand new wheelchair-accessible housing co-op without ever seeing the unit itself before landing in Montreal on July 1. Well, the unit is not fully WC-accessible and it will not be for at least one year. I have been looking for work to no avail. I don’t even have an oven or stove. I am currently on social assistance and am receiving barely just enough to cover my rent. I spent $4,200 just to move my stuff across the country. I am now attempting to sell it all. My housing co-op here is being understanding and will likely let me break my lease without penalty. I honestly thought moving back to Montreal was the right thing for me. Now I realize that leaving Vancouver was the biggest mistake of my life. I had a great life there and I am only sorry I didn’t fully realize it then. The community in Vancouver is also pretty freakin’ awesome. My friends suggested we try this. Thank you for reading, folks. This certainly isn’t easy. Itemizing of Costs: Moving furniture and belongings from Van to Mtl.: $4200 Flight from Van to Mtl. with pets: $414 Flight from Mtl. To Van with pets: $414 Rent and money to tide me over until I can get a job or income assistance: $2000"
When we look at thin bodies, we like thin bodies more. When we look at fat bodies, we like fat bodies more. If you hate or fear fat, and all you ever see is mainstream media full of thin bodies… Try a visual diet. Change what your eyes eat.
