Shitty witchy tips (or kinda)
This is probably the most random and shitty witchblr post you’ll ever see but I just felt like writing it all down and sharing some thoughts and tips about how simple and cheap witchcraft can be. So here it goes:
- First of all, fuck aesthetics. Nah, I’m kidding. If the aesthetics is important for you and makes you feel well then you should definitely work on it. What I actually mean is that you don’t need that perfect grimoire, that stunning altar, 10.000 crystals and shit to acknowledge yourself as being a witch. Also, not having money to buy any of that crap is totally okay. You’re still a witch. Don’t underestimate yourself based on materialistic parameters. Also, don’t think you’re futile if you DID buy all that crap, make a good use of it, you deserve it. The amount of material you have doesn’t define how good as a witch you can be.
- Stretch out. Yup. It’s really that simple. I don’t know about you but I really feel my body functions better and my energy flows spontaneously when I stretch myself out. HOWEVER, I’m still a fucking lazy witch, so I chose ONE yoga pose that actually made me feel stretched out and I do it everyday. You can choose whatever makes you feel more comfortable in your body and do it whenever you feel the need (feeling rusty, with energy stuck somewhere on your body etc).
- Light a candle. I fucking love candles. I mostly light them for no specific reason but you can also light one or more for your deity (or deities) if you work with any, it’s a simple and sweet way to show them love and thought respectfully. A single, cheap candle of any color is enough. True magick comes from within so you don’t really have to read the color correspondences every goddamn time you light a candle. In fact…
- STOP WORRYING TOO MUCH ABOUT CORRESPONDENCES!!! I mean, corresponding colors, herbs and shit can be an incredible boost for your spell if you’re casting any and if you would like to reinforce your intent, you can definitely check out the correspondences for every item you’ll use. But damn, stop obsessing over this. The most important thing is how you feel, how you can channel your energy and how clear your intent is. Focus on that first.
- Burn some incense. No, you don’t have to be casting a spell to light and burn that shit. You might just be there kinda feeling like you want to smell some cinnamon today. Then go and do it, bitch. Burn it. Smell it. Enjoy it. The fact that you’re giving yourself that pleasure is already a boost for your energies (isn’t that what magick is about?!). Stop saving your incenses for special occasions, treating yourself is special enough.
- Talk to your plants, if you’re a green witch. Tell them about your day. Ground and ask them about theirs. How are they feeling? Tell them how you feel. Treat them with some rain water, moon water, crystals. Name them if you feel that it will bond you even more. Let them know who you truly are: are you the clumsy witch that totally forgot to water them when you should have? apologize. Are you a busy witch that stays out all day? let them know you’re leaving. Show them respect, love and care and they’ll give it back to you.
- Experiment the Elements. Okay, this is a nice one. Do you even realize the presence of the Elements on your routine? Take some time to experience them while you’re aware. Feel the rain. Watch the fire. Feel the wind blowing. Step barefoot on the soil. There are so many things you can do and some will feel more empowering to you. Value those ones. Repeat them next week. Find where your bond with nature is stronger and explore that when practicing witchcraft.
- Go study you bitch. Studying is never enough. You’ll never know everything about witchcraft and the more you know, the more spontaneously magickal practice should come to you (OF COURSE practice is essential too). I can’t stop obsessing about studying the craft. Find out what exactly you are doing, why you are doing it, who did it before you and what can possibly influence what you’re doing. Books might be harder to find if you’re secretly a witch but the internet is full of knowledge and people with more experience than you (it’s also full of shit, be aware).
- Be grateful, I mean it. If you’re eating raw broccoli or if you’re eating mcdonalds, there is always energy there. It took energy for that to exist, it didn’t come from nowhere. The Elements are always present and you should not shame on people who don’t eat healthy as if their food is worthless. Be grateful that you get to eat and stop being a bitch feeling that you’re better because you ate that raw salad shit and the other witch (or non-witch) ate pizza. Whether it’s raw or processed, it’s food. Be grateful and actually thank the Universe for what you got.
Okay so this is basically what I got to say right now and if I feel like it I might add something later. I really hope these shitty tips can show how easy it is to practice the craft and how cheap it can be if you want to. I want to say I just sat down and wrote this and idk if it makes any sense and I probably forgot so much stuff that could go in there. But what I wanted to say is stop focusing on the material shit. True magick comes from within.
(Also, I’m sorry for any mistakes I might have committed. I’m learning as much as you and I might just change my mind in the process.)
