Nickelodeon have announced a plan to build an underwater theme park in Coron, Palawan, Philippines. They claim the 400 hectares would “advocate ocean protection,” however by building artificial structures they will actually damage and disrupt Palawan’s marine ecosystems - one of the Philippines most beautiful natural areas.

For a channel that targets children, this is unacceptable and sends a terrible message - to destroy the natural world and replace it with plastic and fantasy. 

WE need to preserve what we have left and celebrate the beauty in nature.

Marsha P. Johnson was born in 1945 in New Jersey and was an African-American drag queen and gay liberation activist. She gained popularity in the 1960s and continued her activity til the 1990s. Johnson devoted her life to the fight for transgender and LGBT people and also worked to impact the lives of people with AIDS. She and her close friend Sylvia Rivera founded the Street Transvestite Action Revolutionaries (STAR) trying to get food and clothing for young trans women, drag queens and kids living on the street. 

In 1974 Marsha P. Johnson was photographed by Andy Warhol, as part of a “ladies and gentlemen” series of polaroids featuring drag queens.

In July 1992, shortly after the 1992 Pride March, Johnson’s body was found in the Hudson River. She was 46 years old. Police ruled the death a suicide. Only in 2012, the NYPD re-opened the case as a possible homicide.

BREAK UP WITH YOUR BUILD UP

Hard water minerals, shampoos, conditioning masks, hair styling products and the environment can all cause build up to gather on your hair.

Build up can reek all sorts of havoc like making your hair dry, brittle, unmanageable, static-y, curl resistant, dull, heavy and probably other stuff I can’t think of right now. It’s bad. But luckily you can kick it to the curb and send it on it’s merry way with a very easy concoction that I used on my little sister Celeste (who has hard water and was really struggling with build up). She has been so thrilled with her hair since we did this and can’t believe that all of that dry brittle ickiness was just build up!

Recipe: (this is a tough one so brace yo-self)

1/3 Cup Baking soda (I’m convinced that between baking soda, corn starch, coconut oil and duct tape  I could create anything! ) 4 T Water

Directions:

Mix together until it’s a paste. Then (starting with the ends) massage into your *hair. {I did this over the sink so I didn’t make a mess) Leave it for 10-15 minutes then wash as usual. * For recently color treated hair always try a test piece first! Celeste has colored hair and it looked vibrant and beautiful when we were done but you never know!
