💉 HRT ANNOUNCEMENT 💉
YOU NEED TO ASPIRATE BEFORE INJECTING.
I’ve known many individuals who were never told by medical professionals to aspirate, which is unacceptable on behalf of endocrinology. This is an extremely important step because if you accidentally inject into a vein, you can literally die.
“I’ve never aspirated and I’ve been fine” until you’re not. “My doctor never told me to aspirate” because trans healthcare has yet to be standardized and is a work in progress. “The area I inject in has little to no blood vessels” but there are so many people who don’t know which areas are safest and it’s better to be safe than sorry.
How To Aspirate: Stick yourself with the needle and then draw back on the syringe. If your syringe fills with blood, you need to reposition your needle. If it doesn’t fill with blood, you’re safe to inject there.
Signs that you’ve injected into a vein: — Stroke — Shortness of breath — Coughing — Chest and/or abdominal pain — Low Oxygen — Blood clots — Slurred speech — Headache — Swelling — Tenderness
Literally just aspirate because it takes 2 seconds and can save your life.
Please share this post so that this practice becomes more common!
Can confirm! Correcto and very important.
someone finally said it 😩👏👏☕️🐸

To anyone looking for a top surgeon in Seattle: please please avoid Alexandra Schmidek at Virginia Mason.
I’m going to start with the biggest one: She wouldn’t let me ask any questions about the surgery until I booked the pre-op appointment AND the surgery. I’m going to say that again: She wouldn’t answer any of my questions until I scheduled the actual surgery.
They require you to have all your letters in before scheduling an appointment which I thought was normal. After I decided to go get two more consultations with two other surgeons, I found out it definitely wasn’t. This dragged out the process by a few weeks, and then once they FINALLY got the paperwork processed they accidentally shredded them. It was ridiculous and obviously dragged it out another two weeks.
She would not explain why I couldn’t get keyhole. I was already 100% prepared to get double incision since I was pretty sure I didn’t qualify for keyhole, but I still wanted the surgeon themself to explain why. I also only found a few results/reviews online and it seems she makes everyone get DI without explaining it properly. Once I saw the surgeon I’ve decided to go to now, he explained exactly why I could get it but why people choose not to. Her lack of ability to explain why keyhole wasn’t an option (it was) really speaks to how much she knows of top surgery in general, in my opinion.
The office staff are extremely rude to the point that the last time I called them, one of them mocked me. Genuinely repeated the sentence I said to her back in a high pitched voice. She also wouldn’t let me say more than three or four words before she would yell over me. I’m honestly still a bit in shock from being yelled at on the phone by someone who works at the hospital I almost went to.
They told me that I was approved for surgery by my insurance so they helped me pick out my date for me. I called them yesterday to have them transfer over the approval paperwork to my other surgeon so I wouldn’t have to start the process over and they told me they had no record of my insurance being approved or the surgeon signing a pre-authorization form. They were going to give me surgery before my insurance went through while directly lying to me that it had been.
The surgeon whose consultation I went to after deciding against her explained the surgery so thoroughly in the first appointment he answered 11/14 of the questions on my list before I even asked them. Both the surgeons I scheduled consultations with after her recommended I bring the letter to the first appointment, but afterwards was fine as to not slow down the process of first seeing the surgeon. They also provided the paperwork I could sign for them to contact my medical professionals directly to get the letters for me. At Virginia Mason, you had to get the letters yourself before you can schedule anything. The reason this doesn’t work well is because the consultation is basically an interview to see if you like the surgeon or not.
The most malicious thing I felt at Virginia Mason was that their system is set up to make you feel like they are your only choice. By not letting me get a consultation until I had the letters (which they have very specific guidelines for) and then not answering any questions until the pre-op, which you have to schedule within a month of surgery, I ended up feeling trapped into getting surgery with her because I’d already invested so much of my time.
I wanted surgery so bad I refused to see all the red flags until it was almost too late, which made me waste another 8 months. I also have found barely anything online about her (even the surgeon I’m going to go to now hasn’t heard of her) and I wanted at least post this review so people will know to avoid her.

Anyway, Bob Marshall is a disgusting anti-LGBTQ bigot who has made life hell for LGBTQ+ people in Virginia since I was a kid, and this year Danica Roem, a trans woman, is running against him.
Bob Marshall has been running anti-trans TV ads against her and sending out transphobic mailers (content warning: misgendering, transphobia.)
I know Danica Roem winning is a long shot but it would mean a great deal to me if she even came remotely close, as a bi/trans Virginian who’s dealt with Bob Marshall’s homophobic, biphobic, and transphobic shit for years.
So please, if you’re in Virginia (whether you’re in Bob Marshall’s district or not) vote in the 2017 state election.
You’re the greatest OP!
Also:
She’s a seasoned investigative journalist for the local newspaper, who’s spent the last decade on the beat getting to know the problems of the district shes running for. Danica Roem is the most uniquely qualified person for Bob Marshall’s legislative seat because she knows, almost academically, exactly what’s wrong and how to fix it for the district.
During the last nine months, She’s focused her campaign on local issues: -fixing Route 28 by replacing traffic lights with overpasses throughout Centreville and replacing the traffic light at Orchard Bridge Drive with a flyover in Yorkshire; -bringing high-paying jobs to Innovation Park by finding a cost-effective way to extend the VRE westward from Broad Run to Gainesville with a stop at Innovation to make the area more marketable; -raising teacher pay in Prince William County and Manassas Park so it’s not the lowest in Northern Virginia; -expanding Medicaid to 3,700 uninsured residents of the 13th District who earn up to 138 percent of the federal poverty line; and -making Virginia a more inclusive commonwealth, so welcome everyone no matter what they look like, where they come from, how they worship or who they love.
She was also born in the district, Bob Marshall is from maryland and made his way down to virginia to set up his demented operation.
Meanwhile Marshall is the same guy who said that birth defects where god’s punishment for women who have abortions , and he pretty much hasn’t done anything remarkable for his district while in office.
Marshall is a cartoon villain, and if you can help Danica in any way it would be wonderful!
You can donate, she takes any amount you can give.
Or you could come volunteer and knock doors if you are in the area, its not as daunting as it sounds (and this is coming from an introvert.)
But please please please if you are in manassas park or prince william county in Virginia do not forget to vote on November 7th, and bring a valid photo ID!
PS: she’s also in a metal band called Cab Ride Home
REMINDER: AGAINST SEEMINGLY IMPOSSIBLE ODDS, DANICA ROEM WON!
Think of this next time someone tells you your vote ‘doesn’t matter’.
Reminder: The US midterm elections will will mostly be held on Tuesday, November 6, 2018. Register here.
SHE’S UP FOR REELECTION ON TUES NOV 5 2019. THERE ARE A LOT OF STATE AND LOCAL ELECTIONS THEN.
SO VOTE!!!
VOTE TO RE-ELECT THIS BAD ASS TRANS WOMAN :D
Reminder that, after she was elected, Republicans wanted to change the official term for representatives from “gentleman” and “gentlewoman” to “delegate” so they wouldn’t have to acknowledge her gender.
Roem’s reaction:
Republicans: We refuse to actually call a trans woman a woman because we’re bigoted pieces of shit so we want to change the terms to be gender neutral
Danica Roem, an actually good person: That will make non binary representatives feel much more comfortable, good idea!
Republican: (Screaming in horror at the realisation they just accidentally did something nice for people who aren’t cishet white christian males)
Announcer: IN THEIR CONFUSION THEY HURT THEMSELVES
Re-elect Danica Roem!
On other VA politics news, in 2017 Democrats were in a very close race to determine control of the State House of Delegates - there was one race that hadn’t been called and a recounts was called. The Democratic candidate appeared to win the recount by 1 vote, but lawyers got involved and one vote that was for the Republican candidate was taken before a judge and it became a tied election. To decide who won the race and how the House of Delegates would be controlled the State Board of Electors DREW NAMES OUT OF AN URN. (The Republican won.)
https://nyti.ms/2E6H5Mi
The outcome means the House of Delegates stays narrowly in Republican hands, 51-49.
I’m not fucking kidding, that’s how we apparently decide tied races in VA. YOUR VOTE MATTERS.
