Summary: Come to think of it, they were a total cliche. Lee Su Hyeok was the handsome, popular, bubbly boy that fell in love with his complete opposite: a bookwormish, cold, and quiet girl named Choi Nam Ra. Both with parental issues, teenage angst, and managing getting through high school, they formed a bond that lasts through a lifetime. Sounds about like every other story, right? Yes, just donât forget the Jonas Plague thatâs terrorizing their high school and instead of fighting for top grades to get to university, theyâre fighting to stay alive and keep their friends intact.
Pairing: Lee Su-hyeok x Choi Nam-ra
Genre: All of Us Are Dead Fanfic. supernatural au, zombie, adventure, school love
A/N: Iâm mainly a reader and not really a writer, so please excuse the writing. thereâs most likely so many mistakes and errors. Just really needed a place to expose how much I love this ship. Iâm starting off before the show, just to build some more story behind Su-hyeok and Nam-raâs love story. I will at some point connect it to the show and hopefully after the show.
The First Time He Saw Her Outside of School
It was the summer before going back to school for grade 11. He spent most of it trying to establish better relationships with his classmates instead of being with Myung-hwan and others. Currently, heâs on his way to meet up with Cheong-San and Gyeong-su to eat jajangmyeon. But what he didnât prepare for was accidentally looking inside a cafe on his way and seeing Nam-ra with an iced americano, an open book, with her earphones on.
Did he stop and creepily watched her? Yes, he did.
Nam-ra looked so different today, so simple and casual. Her hair was tied up high in a ponytail, something he had never seen her wear to school at all. He rubbed her eyes to make sure it was really her, but it was. She has the same alabaster skin and lonely eyes. She was, yet again, without anyone to accompany her.
How can someone be so lonely? He thought to himself as his feet moved of its own accord and walked to enter the cafe. He felt his phone vibrate, looking at the clock, he was late to meet up with the boys and there were still three people ahead of him in line. Screw it, Su-hyeok thought, and texted Cheong-san that he was on his way.
She hadnât glanced up at all from her book, letting the world pass her by. Su-hyeok ordered quickly, not really knowing what to order except for a strawberry mochi on their display. He thanked the cashier and waited for his order to be called. She still hasnât looked up.
His foot tapped on the ground impatiently. There was a trio of young girls looking at him and immediately whispered among themselves. He could hear them and couldnât help but feel flattered at the way they thought he was good looking. See, he was good looking! He reminded himself to bring it up to his friends later. His order finally came and he walked up to where Nam-ra was sitting and stopped himself just a step before he invaded her surroundings.
What if she thinks this is weird?
Ah, screw it. He took the step, placed his orders next to her and sat down. Nam-ra looked a bit startled and finally took out her earphones and saw him. He immediately looked away, âI wonât disturb you, I just want to drink my drink and thereâs no more open spots.â
Nam-raâs brain could not function fast enough. She never thought she would see someone she knows in this cafe, much less be approached. Her eyes darted to the open tables on the other side of the cafe, âThere are some over there.â
Su-hyeokâs cheeks flushed, his hand gripping at his pants in nervousness; he turned to her, âAre you really kicking me out, Pres?â
She was stunned; most of time people gravitate away from her the moment she opens her mouth. Su-hyeokâs face fell, a small pout on his lips and she truly does not know how to respond. Instead, she just placed her earphone back and thought not openly answering would force him to decide if he was staying or not.
And stayed he did. Su-hyeok took this as a victory, a small one, but still a victory. He side eyed her and she looked even more immersed in her book. He was glad to see it wasnât a school book, because really, itâs summer and why would anyone want to study during summer, right? He tried to sip on his drink slowly just so he has an excuse to sit next to her. Seeing her alone like this, and like all the other times at school, really tugged at his heart. But his friends were waiting and texting and calling and at last, he couldnât hold them off any longer. Their drinks were melting and their patience wearing thin.
He stood up and tried to nonchalantly bid her goodbye, âGet home safe, Pres; Iâm going to head out.â
Nam-ra took off her earphones but she heard it all, muting her music the moment Su-hyeok came. She did see him with two other drinks so perhaps he has to go meet up with other people. After all, he wasnât the type to be hanging out in cafes. But he did leave an untouched strawberry mochi, âHold onâŚyour mochi.â
He looked back at her with a smile, âI bought it for you.â
Help! Nam-ra thought, why does she feel physically dumb whenever Lee Su-hyeok is around?
