I donāt post here often, but I go here when I feel like I canāt go anywhere else!
The game, Phasmophobia, about ghost hunting and identifying ghosts, recently blew up. I watch a lot of my Gamer-Youtubers play it, and itās amusing, but I /hate/ the damage itās done on the termĀ āSmudge Stickā. Itās straight up a bad case of research on their part, theyāre from the UK, but come-on...
Misinformation in the Witchcraft community drove the term for Smoke-Cleansing Sticks asĀ āSmudge Sticksā, and those who fight for the correction of that know well that once that misinformation is out there, there are people who will fight that it isnāt cultural appropriation *eye rolls*
Now this huge game that blew up, which so many people have played or watched, and donāt even know itās a misused term, will forever know the incorrect label.Ā
And thereās not even a good way to contact the gaming studio! Join their Discord to get bombarded by people defending it? no thanks. Tweet them? same dish.Ā
Just gonna sit here trying to not be upset about big damages done byĀ āthe gaming studio not knowing the game would blow up like thisā.
