Your inbox has been atrocious lately. I'm telling Tumblr about Xehanort Island.
Long story short, my family went camping near a huge river for a few days. On our second full day there (I think), my two younger brothers (in middle school and just out of high school) tell me a story about this beautiful island they found a few minutes upstream. It has trees, sand, and even wildlife.
This is not Xehanort Island.
Xehanort Island is the massive clump of boulders a little further away. The closest thing resembling wildlife is a massive stump that somehow fell on the island's biggest boulder. There's a puddle around it. The boys are enamored with this place and swear up and down I have to go there.
(Why is it called Xehanort Island? The youngest brother thought it was funny. He's never played a KH game for more than a begrudging half-hour, but the other brother and I talk about Xehanort, BBS, and the series in general so often that it was on his mind.)
Anyway, it's not exactly easy to get to Xehanort Island. You have to walk downstream in the rapids for a couple minutes just to get there. And once you're there, it kinda sucks. But it's loads of fun with company. We throw rocks for a couple hours and make the puddle deeper. We talk about Xehanort, and the other island, and how much it sucks, and what we should name it (we settle on Eraqus Island). For some reason, my youngest brother tells us there that he wants to play BBS. He asks for it by its full name, too--we didn't even know he knew its full name. Maybe Xehanort Island's whispering terrible things into his ear... Or maybe we're just terrible influences.
There's not really a conclusion or punchline to this story... I just had a great time talking about Kingdom Hearts for hours and being completely unaware about fandom drama for a few days. Would highly recommend.
