Ways to Forget [Queen + Trey]
There was nothing Queen loved more than a large collection of books. There was something almost dignified in being surrounded by so much knowledge, so many written words and experiences of people long since passed. These people who were gone physically but through their works had gained a sort of immortality. Despite it being the weekend (and one with particularly good weather at that), Queen had sought out the noble silence of the library to the noise of the streets. The sound of her footsteps was accompanied only by the rare page-turn or cough from one of the library's other hidden patrons. To say that Queen was at peace in this place was an understatement. Between these rows upon rows of books, Queen was able to consume copious amounts of knowledge until her eyes strained. It was exciting. To her, a visit to the library was the same as an amusement park or concert. Perhaps others would have found that odd. Most likely, many did.
One slender finger trailed along the spine of a book detailing various medical terms and practices. Queen had been meaning to study up on that subject, after all. She was seconds away from pulling the book from the shelf when a flash of gold in her peripheral vision caught her eye. Turning with just enough time to glimpse the source, Queen felt her body tense. It had been years, but she recognized that person. Even if he'd grown up. Seven had said the others were most likely in the city as well. The book fluttered to the floor as Queen turned on her heel and started after that familiar back. There was no way. It was too coincidental. He was quite a great distance in front of her, lacking the leisurely pace that any adopted in the library. Had she been someone else, she might have run after him or called his name - disturbing the serene atmosphere of the library. As it was, Queen picked up her own pace.
"Trey..." She murmured his name in the hope that he'd somehow hear it and stop. She'd been so focused on the male that Queen ran into another person - causing them to drop their books and fix her with a venomous look. Stammering an apology, Queen sidestepped them with just enough time to see Trey slip into one of the rows. It was now or never. Nearly diving into the row herself, Queen was pleased to discover that he'd slowed his pace down as he gazed at the books. Without thinking about the consequences, Queen reached out quickly and took hold of his hand in her own to stop him from walking any further. "Trey...?" Only now was she aware of how awkward the situation would be if it turned out not to be him. That, coupled with the fact that he hadn't turned to face her yet, made Queen swallow nervously. Oh dear. And so she stood there, frozen by both anticipation and fear.
