eddieslughorn:
“Really? Fantastic, it’s an honor, it really is. Question though: what if I put the Weasley signal up and get all of you? Depending on how large of a space I’m in that might get dangerous.” The thought of all the Weasleys piled into a closet, crushing him, was both hilarious and terrifying. Mostly hilarious though. “Dunno. They look magical. I guess the muggles have an explanation for them, but it all seems a bit to weird and scientific to believe.” Eddie let out his breath in a mildly horrified noise and sat up abruptly. “Ooo-kay. No more of that, I think. Wanting to hug stars in a bad sign- if there was an actual sign it’d probably say ‘turn back now’. Which I am completely willing to do right now.”
“Do you really think any of my family ever look up from what they’re doing unless Quidditch is involved? I’d maybe rethink the strategy on match days though. How horrifying you’re expecting little old me then they all pile in.” It was gentle ribbing of her illustrious siblings and cousins, she adored them all even when they got on her nerves. “Yeah, I mean, nothing really makes sense if you don’t put all of the information together.” Dom gave him a diffident little smile and sat up with him before patting him comfortingly on the shoulder. “A bit too existential, huh? What about the idea that they’re all jazzed as hell because space and distance is only relative to their size so they can have a chat across the milkyway because they’re stars, goddamn it, they do what they like and every night is basically a mad Weasley-size party.”
liliumtigrinum:
Her dark hues scoured the sea of students, seeking out Dominique’s light blonde hair. It wasn’t until her cousin rose up that Lily finally spotted her, familiar green eyes frenzied with sheer panic. Sprinting down the flights of stairs, she didn’t waver until her feet finally met the grass. “Dom, remember, deep breaths in for four seconds, then out for four seconds. You’re going to be okay. I’m here, you’re safe.” she soothed, just like the last time this had happened. The redhead reached out her palm, fingers gripping around Dominique’s, an attempt to reground her cousin to her surroundings. Lily’s free hand began to rummage through her purse, pulling out a Calming Drought she had brought. Just in case.
Lily kept her voice even, measured. Each time she’d had to lean on her younger cousin during a panic the worry slowly faded from her voice, not because she didn’t feel it but because the red-haired girl became surer that she knew what to do to make it better. As much as she could. Dominique did as instructed, breaths stuttering but beyond grateful for the gentle prompting. “Lils, sorry I’m so sorry, you’re going to miss the start of the game.”
thatssofletchpm:
“No.” He shook his head quickly, “This is the the first school-related one that I’ve ever been to. Sort of just here for-” Saying Lucy felt weird. He was there for Lucy. He didn’t give a rats ass about quidditch, or sport in general. “I’m here for- whatever. I’m just here and it’s my first one so you’re going to have to catch me up.”
“It had been so nice out, sunny and hot for days but of course for the match it poured and no one could see 5 feet in front of them. No one had guessed it was going to storm.” Dominique screwed her fists up in the sleeves of her jumper, head turned away from him. “There was a scuffle over the quaffle and someone used their broom to flick it so high, I just went up after it I didn’t even think. I managed to snatch it, that’s when I got hit... It was like being on fire Fletcher, I couldn’t move and my broom slipped away. The quaffle made it down before I did, everyone else was watching one of the seekers dart for the snitch and no one spotted me falling because of the visibility... Apparently I hit Ravenclaw’s goalpost on the way down. I probably would’ve just been yellow and red mush if they hadn’t caught me before I hit the floor.”
“I was out for a week, woke up right before OWLs in the Hospital Wing. I can’t... I can’t think about brooms, or the pitch or the game without feeling sick.”
leiarookwood:
“That’s true. There have been many rumors about your family that comes from the mouths of petty bored people with no life. But I will tell you this, Phoenix thought it would be a great idea to manhandle me into a room to attempt to explain his terrible behavior and lack of morals and then got angry and bitter when I didn’t return his feelings and refused to be complacent in his bigotry and hatred.” Leia sighed, twisting her wrists. “No, but I will find some. I refuse to lay down and let this happen without doing anything.”
“I’m glad you agree. Petty, bored people with no life.” Dom responded wryly, crossing one leg over the other on the chair beside Leia’s bed. “He did what?” She shifted forward in her chair, gritting her teeth at the thought of Yaxley believing he had any right to force Leia to do anything, Dominique curled her lip, “Fucking salaud.” Twirling her ponytail in thought she couldn’t help but lightly reach over to brush her fingertips across the back of the pink-haired girl’s hands where they twisted. “Neither will I.”

bookspined:
The players were getting a quick fly around warm-up on the pitch, technically, Scor was meant to be sat on the bench in the stands. Technically, he was meant to be starting the introduction in just a few minutes time but as he spotted Dominique fleeing he vaulted the bench with his long limbs, only stumbling slightly and followed her down the almost endless flights of stairs. “Dom? Est-cequetuvasbien?” He could spot the signs of a panic attack, the hyperventilation, the fear. “Tu es en sécurité, la colombe.” Scor stepped closer to her, gently taking her hand and pressing. “Feel that? Press your heels into the floor a little. I want you to follow my breathing.”
The soft words spoken in French. Dove. The pressure on her hand, she curled her fingers around his, returned the squeeze and dug her heels into the ground. “You should be up in the box right now.” Dom fretted. “Will they start without you?”
allisonbelle:
( &&. @quivivraverras. )
Ally was rarely late, if ever at all. There was something reassuring about making schedules to manage her time correctly, splitting it all evenly so she was able to maintain the balance. But she’d stayed behind to talk to Slughorn about extra work, in order to boost her Potions grade even more, and she didn’t realise she’d lost track of time until it was too late. Avoiding running and being scolded by Pince, she’d tried to quicken her pace, before throwing herself into the chair next to Dominique, taking out her notes in quick succession. “I’m so sorry, I’m here, I’m here. Feel free to fire me as your tutor if I’m late again, Merlin.”
Dominique brushed the feather of her quill thoughtfully back and forth across her lips, staring out of the window and leaning her chin on her palm. Her books were open, a fresh roll of parchment waiting beside her inkwell. She’d not checked the time in a few minutes but she was content enough to wait. Allison appeared, tossing herself at speed down into the chair beside her. “It really is alright Ally, don’t worry about it. I was away with the fairies anyway.”
jaxonthomas:
despite it being the first quidditch game of the season, jaxon wasn’t present at the start of it. in fact, he hadn’t even been anywhere near the pitch when everyone made their way to the field. the hufflepuff had been in the kitchen searching for snacks. his house wasn’t even one of the teams playing, who would care if he missed some of the game time?
eventually, with a small snack in hand, jax did make his way out of the castle and toward the field. that is until he was near enough and saw someone running away from the field. not just someone, dominique. she was usually well put together and tough. so the fact that she was in such a rush to what he assumed was an escape, worry filled up inside of him.
he dropped sweets he had been holding and rushed toward her. he didn’t lay a hand on her, in case she was opposed to being touched at the moment. “dom? hey, are you okay?”
All the sensations had been too much to endure, thinking back to the quaffle arcing 40 feet higher above the pitch, pulling tight to her broom and risking shooting up after it in the low visibility. The rain lashing down relentlessly, making her all but disappear from view until the lightning struck and no one had managed to see her in time to catch her. They’d been up against Ravenclaw, as they were every year for the final match at the end of May and the thunderstorm had followed several days of blinding sun. The air was soupy and hot. Then she’d woken up in the Hospital Wing in June, a few weeks away from taking her OWLs.
“I thought I could do it Jax, I just figured... I just figured that it’s been months now.” She pawed at her eyes with her sleeves, taking in panicked breaths as she stepped close to him. “I wanted to be there for them all, the team, for their first match but I can’t do it.”
intcrritus:
Out of his peripherals, Brent had caught a flash of red and gold fleeing the scene, the familiar blonde ponytail making it easy to identify the figure. Maneuvering his way through the aisle of Gryffindors, he made quick work of catching up with the younger girl, not wanting her to hurt herself in her haste to get out. When he reached her, he began with, “You’re safe, Dominique. Let’s get you out of here, alright?” He made a motion to reach an arm across the span of her shoulders, keeping an eye on any body language coming from her that would indicate further distress from the action. Beginning to guide her out of the arena, he didn’t inquire if she was alright. It was evident enough that she wasn’t. He needed to bring her back to herself gently, carefully. “Place a hand on your diaphragm and breathe with me, okay?” he encouraged as he continued to weave them out through the crowd, attempting to lead her through deep breathing while also wishing to ground her.
Dominique wasn’t aware that Brent’s longer strides were falling just behind her, trying to catch up to her, not until his voice cut through the white noise in her head. Voice calm, collected, like always. Her first instinct was to hide her face, the embarrassment was hot enough to feel like it was burning her, just a week had gone by since he’d complimented her resilience and here she was. Fleeing, eyes full of tears. “I’m— I’m fine.” Yet the moment his hand clasped around the cap of her shoulder she stilled, feeling grounded, some part of her taking root. She let him steer her away, one hand trembling as she placed it against her ribs.
leiarookwood:
Leia shrugged. “Or you know, listen to campus gossip. But yes, the terror twins. Twiddle Dee and Twiddle Dum. Bellatrix Black’s reject pile and Severus Snape’s biggest fan. Well, tall dark and pathetic didn’t take it particularly well when I called him out on being a spineless amoral jerk or breaking his heart and we all know how sane and rational his terror twin counterpart is when it comes to her darling brother. Marzia doesn’t care about Quidditch and Phoenix is a Hufflepuff who doesn’t take no well.”
“I tend not to, it’s rarely ever true.” Alot of it was about her cousins, her family and the majority of it made her stomach churn. As the insults continued to pour from Leia’s tongue Dominique’s eyebrows climbed higher and higher. “You broke... Phoenix Yaxley has a heart?” The words were rude, she knew this but they fell out of her mouth anyway, “Well, I guess he doesn’t anymore after you were through with him.” She gnawed on her lower lip. “Do you think they’re done? Do you have any evidence, I mean, probable cause is all well and good but I bet if we asked they’d be each others’ alibis. How are we meant to make sure they won’t attack you again?”
jacekaneko:
Jace didn’t exactly hate crowds, but he didn’t enjoy being in them either. It was easier to be on the pitch and have free space to move rather than stuck shoulder to shoulder with hundreds of other students. He’d taken a breather in one of the stairwells that lead up to the main bleachers, stretching out his arms to work out any kinks. Sadly even here it was still surprisingly crowded, bodies brushing past his own moving in either direction. But his attention was grabbed by the girl moving with haste down the stairs, and he felt a wave of worry go through him. He wasn’t sure if something had happened up there, or if it was a panic attack, but he assumed that she likely didn’t want to get stuck here in the stairwell. “Hey.” His voice was calm, had enough behind it to be heard above the noise of the game. “Dominque right?” He questioned, trying to put a name to the face. “If you trust me, I can take you a less crowded way out of here.” He continued, and after playing quidditch for nearly four years he knew most of the secrets of the pitch and just how to navigate around it.
At the mention of her name Dominique turned, blinking dazedly. People kept jostling her, squashing her without meaning to. “Please.” She gasped out relievedly, her fingers gently fastening themselves into the fabric of his sleeve and tentatively holding on, ready to be led away. Dominique wasn’t mindful enough to be embarrassed by it, the thought of someone taking control and letting her not think was too tempting to ignore. “Thank you.”
thatssofletchpm:
Fletcher had just sat down beside Dom, but they hadn’t chatted yet. In their last interaction, he had yelled at her and aggravated her on purpose, but she had seemingly forgiven him? And then continued to be patient with him as they stumbled through the basics of third-year herbology. Fletcher did not particularly like her, but he didn’t particularly like anyone. He did not spot his brother in the crowd, so any familiar face that could stand would do. So, he sat down next to her. And then she got up. Was he really that awful? Maybe he smelt bad?
But then she wasn’t just moving to not be near him anymore. She kept going, seemingly leaving the stadium in the process. This confused Fletcher. Maybe she had to use the bathroom. Or get a snack. Or maybe she forgot that she had something due tomorrow. But the sense of urgency did not sit well with him. He settled in his seat. And then immediately stood up and followed her. Fucking Weasleys.
He followed her out to the area outside of the arena but stopped a safe distance away when he saw her. “Hey, Weasley, you alright?”
Dominique was hardly aware of anyone around her as she fled, not even thinking of her promise to let Lily slowly crush her hand over the course of the match and scream advice to the others on the pitch.
Everything was white noise, she’d pushed past a host of people on her way down without a word but she couldn’t think of apologizing to them later. She couldn’t think of anything. Weasley. She spun, her eyes fastening to Fletcher where he stood a few feet away from her. “Were you there?” She blurted out before she could stop it, her voice strained. “Last year, the last match of the year. When I fell?”
