Good bye 2018
“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.” - Philippians 4:4-5 It’s easy to rejoice when everything is going right. But when times are hard, now that’s another story. We forget the reason for our rejoicing. The believer’s joy comes from the Lord, who is always near, no matter what circumstances we face. Without the Lord, there’s really no reason to rejoice, but with him there are countless motives to be joyful, thankful, contented, and at peace. “A personal, prayerful relationship with the Lord will put you in touch with the mother lode of joy. God wants to share himself with you.” –John T. Catoir, Enjoy Your Precious Life
Christianity is not consistency to conscience or to convictions; Christianity is being true to Jesus Christ.
Oswald Chambers
Every moment. Every day. Forgive me,Father for when I act or live life as if I don’t need you. My entire being longs for You & feels the weight & emptiness when I try to do things apart from You,& live independently. I am nothing without you. And yet,You love me…still.
Sunset Beach by Linda Xu
When asked by his little sister the question, “What is love?” Gio readily answers what he knows about love from the Bible. But like many things in life, love is easier said than done. In just one day, Gio's knowledge of love is tested, and he realizes how love subjects us to some of the toughest questions in life.
Can one stay loving the entire day?
Life is not fair, but does that mean we should keep track of everybody's wrongs?
How does one recover from a fit of anger?
Was love created for oneself or for others?
What is love anyway?
Here’s a short story that aspires to answer that question. “What is Love?” A short film by ENC Philippines and UP Diliman Film Students.
I want a man who will lead me closer to Christ each day. A man who understands I am a precious daughter of the King of Kings, and my purity deserves to be the upmost priority. A man who feeds me with the Word, and loves me no matter what storms come our way.
And with that—
I will be the woman who lifts him up when he fails, and pushes him to keep going. A woman who recognizes and calls out the strengths I see in him when he feels most inadequate. A woman who always reminds him of his worth, and continually pours grace into his life.
This is the desire of my heart, and I know God’s timing is perfect.
For this reason, I will patiently wait while continuing to pursue my Heavenly Father with my whole heart!
I told God, “I’m lonely.” “I’m the Friend who sticks closer than a brother,” came His tender response.
“I feel unloved.” “I loved you first. I have loved you with an everlasting love.”
“I need strength.” “I am your strength.”
“I have no hope.” “I am your hope.”
“I’m restless,” I said. “I am your rest.”
“This sin and temptation is more than I can bear.” “But, my dear, I am He who bore your every sin and temptation. (My grace is sufficient.)”
“I’m not sure how much more of this I can take. I’m so weary.” “I am your burden-bearer. I will carry it for you. (I will carry you.)”
“I’m falling.” “I will catch you.”
“This is impossible.” “I make the impossible, possible.”
“I feel lost.” “I’ve already found you.”
“They rejected me. They left.” “I will never leave you or forsake you.”
I told God, “I’m not sure…I just feel very stuck. I want more.” He smiled. “I AM more.”
— I told God (and He replied) | b.b.
something God has been whispering and teaching me lately:
“be content with Me.”
One of the hardest lessons in life is letting go. Whether it’s guilt, anger, love, loss or betrayal. Change is never easy. We fight to hold on and we fight to let go.
