Debunking BOTW Link’s age:

In botw, only Zelda is confirmed to be 17, when she’s finally allowed to visit the Spring of Wisdom on her 17th birthday. It’s an assumption Link is the same age, not canon. If he’s able to accompany her, he can be older.

NOTE: wikis can be editted by anyone without evidence. So I won’t be taking the loz wiki saying he’s 17 into consideration as there’s nothing concrete to confirm that.

1) Creating a Champion suggests he could be an adult. This is a book made with the botw dev team. Below are page snippets from pg 107 & 377.

2) Drinking Age: Noble Pursuit

Japan’s drinking age remains at 20. It’s likely Nintendo follows their own country’s law in regards to drinking. Link could be considered an adult unable to drink yet.

3) Link says I’m over 100, not 117.

Also Link is a short king, most likely mistaken to be much younger and not taken seriously by other npcs.

4) Urbosa’s Diary page

This entry doesn’t suggest they’re the exact same age. It can be said for both teens and young adults. Older gen like Urbosa and Daruk (Urbosa was Zelda’s mum’s friend) would say this to anyone younger than them.

Conclusion: If you see him as 17, you do you! Based on the info above, it’s valid to consider him an adult. As of Tears of The Kingdom, he definitely is one!

I think he was probably around 19 or 20, based on everything we know. Zelda tells Quino they’re “around” the same age, so he could easily be one or two years younger or older than her. In Age of Imprisonment / Tears of the Kingdom, Zelda is likely about 21. If you look at the children across Hyrule, especially in Hateno, they’ve clearly aged a few years, but they still attend school and spend their time playing and drawing. Riju isn’t an adult yet, and Tulin is no longer a chick — though the Rito may mature faster as an avian species. Cottla and Koko have grown as well, but they’re still children. And Mattison appears to be around three years old, judging by her size and by comparison with the other children in Gerudo Town. All of this points to a time gap of no more than four years.

Master Works also states that Link is close in age to Paya (18–20). And realistically, 19 or 20 makes far more sense than 17 for someone appointed as the Princess’s personal knight. No matter how exceptional he was, it’s hard to imagine him being entrusted with that responsibility as a minor. So I’m fully convinced he wasn’t 17 or 18, but more likely somewhere between 19 and 21 (while she was 16), with an age gap of roughly three to five years between Zelda and Link.

That would make Zelda 21 in Tears of the Kingdom, and him around 24 to 26. Plus 100, of course.
