jared and wilbur drag race to chose who gets reader, wilbur wins and they fuck in the car after
✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩
the parking lot behind the venue still radiated the day's heat, the tarmac soft enough that their fishnet-clad feet nearly left impressions. two sports cars sat side by side, engines idling with that deep, competitive purr that vibrated up through their legs. headlights cut the dusk, sharp and white and aimed straight at them.
they stood between them. the starting line. the prize. the person stupid enough to agree to this.
their white crop top caught the streetlamp's glow, thin cotton pulling across their chest, the hem riding up to expose the warm strip of bare stomach above their waistband. red sparkly shorts scattered light with every micro-movement of their weight shifting between feet, tiny constellations dancing across the asphalt. fishnets traced their geometric patterns down their legs, the diamond shapes warping over their knees and thighs where the lamplight pooled.
jared's window was already down. his arm hung over the door, forearm tense, scarred knuckles drumming against metal in an impatient rhythm. his jaw was set, that stubborn muscle twitching beneath stubble he hadn't bothered to shave in three days. his eyes tracked over them with a rawness that was less appreciation and more claiming.
"you look well fit standing there like that," he called, his northern accent thick with something possessive.
"hope you're ready to back up those legs."
wilbur's window hummed down more slowly. he leaned across his seat, taking his time, and the amber dashboard light caught the planes of his face. sharp jaw, soft eyes, that perpetual almost-smile that suggested he found the entire world gently amusing. his gaze found them and settled there. warm. appreciative. respectful.
"alright?" he asked, like they were a person and not a trophy. like he actually wanted to know.
"yeah," they managed.
"good. you look lovely, by the way. properly lovely." he said it simply, without innuendo, without expectation. just a fact, offered freely.
jared snorted through his open window.
“oi, sooty, less flirting, more driving."
wilbur's eyes flicked to jared, then back to them. he rolled his neck, a quiet crack echoing in the still air. "just being polite, mate. something you might try sometime."
"sod off."
they raised their arm. the crop top shifted, fabric stretching, the hem lifting another fraction. two drivers watched. two engines revved in anticipation, a deeper growl from wilbur, a sharper snarl from jared, blending into something almost musical against the evening air.
one honk. jared's. sharp and aggressive, the sound bouncing off the warehouse wall.
two honks. wilbur's. slower, rhythmic, almost musical.
their arm dropped.
both cars exploded off the line. the sound was enormous, dual engines screaming, tires fighting for grip, twin plumes of exhaust and the acrid sweetness of burning rubber flooding the lot. the displaced air hit them like a warm hand, whipping their hair back and pressing the crop top flat against their chest.
jared's launch was violent, his engine hitting redline before the tires even caught, the car jerward forward in a burst of controlled aggression. but wilbur was cleaner. his revs matched his grip, the car flowing off the line like water, no wasted energy, no unnecessary drama. just precision.
they watched them shrink down the street. taillights fading. the sound dopplering into nothing. then silence. just the streetlamp buzzing overhead and the faint chemical ghost of their departure hanging in the warm air.
they checked their phone. put it back. shifted their weight. the night air kissed their bare midrill, raising goosebumps along the strip of exposed skin.
minutes passed.
headlights appeared from the left. wilbur's car swept into the lot, decelerating with mechanical grace, the engine note descending from a wail to a purr. he stopped precisely where they stood, close enough to touch, far enough to be safe. the engine cut. silence rushed in.
the window dropped.
he was flushed. cheeks pink, a sheen of sweat catching the streetlamp light at his temples. his hair was wind-tousled, darker at the roots where it had dampened with exertion. he was breathing hard but not desperately, his chest rising and falling beneath a shirt that clung slightly at the collar.
"hi," he said, catching his breath. a smile tugged at the corner of his mouth, genuine, warm, slightly embarrassed by his own competitive streak.
"hi." they leaned down to look past him into the empty passenger seat.
"where’s jared?"
"took the turn on birch a bit fast. saw him in my mirror, understeered right into someone's hedge." he paused, pressing his lips together to suppress a grin and failing.
"he's alright. the begonias are less so."
they bit their lip. "so you won."
"appears that way." he said it without gloating, just a quiet satisfaction that settled behind his eyes. then his expression shifted, softer, more careful. the playfulness didn't disappear, but something earnest rose beneath it.
"listen. you don't have to do anything, yeah? it was a daft bet. jared and i were being idiots. we can just get chips. talk about how his suspension isn't going to recover from that flowerbed."
the offer hung in the air between them, no strings, no weight. an open door held wide without a hand on your back.
they opened the passenger door. slid in. the interior was warm, worn leather that smelled faintly of his books and that clean bergamot cologne he wore. they pulled the door shut.
he turned to face them fully, one arm draped over the back of the steering wheel. his eyes were bright in the dim dashboard glow.
"still sure? genuinely. because i'd rather get chips with you as a friend than make you feel like you owe me something."
the sincerity made something bloom behind their ribs, warm and sudden. they leaned across the console and kissed him. he was soft. his lips were warm, tasting of mint gum and something underneath that was just him. for a moment he was perfectly still, surprised maybe, or just giving them every chance to pull away. then his hand came up to cup their face, his thumb tracing their cheekbone with a touch so careful it made their breath catch.
"god," he murmured against their mouth. "you're brilliant."
"drive somewhere quiet," they whispered.
he drove to a layby overlooking the river, tree-canopied, moonlight filtering through branches in shifting silver patterns that danced across the dashboard. he killed the engine and the world went silent. just water against stone. leaves in a light breeze. the warm tick of cooling metal beneath them.
he turned off the interior light. in the soft ambient glow, he shifted to face them, his hand finding their knee. his thumb stroked gently over the fishnet pattern.
"i think you should know," he said, his voice low and warm and entirely sincere, "that you are, without exaggeration, the most beautiful person i've ever had the privilege of sitting in a parked car with. and i've sat in a lot of parked cars."
they laughed, bright, startled, genuine, "that's very smooth."
"i practiced it on the drive over. deleted three versions." he grinned, self-deprecating, open, entirely disarming.
then, more quietly, "but it's true."
they reached for him. pulled him into a kiss, deeper this time, his hand sliding from their knee to their hip, his other arm wrapping around their waist. he kissed like he had all the time in the world, thorough, attentive, his lips moving against theirs with a kind of careful wonder that made their chest tight.
they ended up in his lap, straddling him across the driver's seat. the steering wheel pressed softly against their back. his hands slid beneath their crop top, palms warm against bare skin, and he exhaled against their neck, a sound of quiet, genuine appreciation.
"d'you mind if i?" he tugged gently at the hem of their top.
they pulled it over their head. cool air met their skin. his gaze followed, warm, unhurried, tracing the lines of them with an attention that felt like being seen rather than consumed.
"christ," he breathed, almost reverently. then he laughed softly, slightly flushed, running a hand through his hair.
"sorry. just, yeah. wow. sorry."
"stop apologising."
"right. yeah. sorry, see, i'm doing it again." his grin was helpless, boyish, entirely genuine.
they kissed the laughter out of him.
undressing happened in pieces, pauses for kisses, for quiet laughter when his elbow caught the door handle, for his murmured "sorry" as he fumbled with a button.
his hands were gentle throughout, checking in with a touch, a glance, a murmured "alright?" and "tell me if anything's not right."
when they were both bare from the waist down, his jeans pushed to his thighs, their red shorts hanging off one ankle, he held them steady. his hand brushed hair from their face, his thumb smoothing over their temple.
"ready?"
they nodded.
his entry was slow. a careful, measured pressure that made them both draw a sharp breath. he watched their face the entire time, not with hunger but with attention. his brow furrowed slightly, not with strain but with focus, reading them like the most important book he'd ever held. he didn't move until they rolled their hips in encouragement, their hands gripping his shoulders.
"okay?" he murmured, his voice rough.
"yes. move, wil." they said softly. he moved. the rhythm was languid, a deep, rolling motion that made the car rock gently on its suspension. his hands settled on their hips, guiding them at a pace that was both maddening and perfect, never rushing, never taking more than they gave. the sounds between them were soft, breathy gasps, the wet rhythm of connection, the creak of leather, and his quiet voice against their skin.
"you're so lovely," he murmured, his lips pressed to their collarbone. his hand slipped between them, his touch sure and focused, his thumb finding their clit with the precision of someone paying very, very close attention. when they came apart, it was with a full-body shudder, his name a broken sound against his mouth. he followed moments later, arms tightening around them, his finish deep and thorough, ending with a satisfied sigh that seemed to settle into his bones.
he held them afterward. his arms were warm around their back, his cheek resting against their hair. the car smelled of river water and green things and the warm, shared musk of their skin.
"right," he said eventually, his voice drowsy and content, a smile audible in every syllable.
“chips. proper ones. from the van near the bridge that does the really good mushy peas."
they laughed against his shoulder. "you don't owe me chips.
"chips are non-negotiable." he pressed a kiss to their temple, slow, deliberate, sweet.
"and a coffee. if you're free."
"i'm free."
"brilliant." his arms tightened gently.
"just brilliant."

grounding rituals

they/them afab
based off this tweet: tasks have always been something that keep wil grounded after gigs, so fucking in the hotel room afterward was a common occurrence. the rest of the band tunes it out by now, just watching tv on the couch as he eats you out directly next to them.
the hotel air conditioning hums against the window unit, fighting a losing battle against the august humidity that followed them all back from the venue. the gig had been good, great, even, the kind of set where the crowd’s energy fed back into the amplifiers until the floor shook. but now, two hours later, the adrenaline has curdled into something twitchy and electric in william’s veins. they can see it in the way he moves: restless fingers drumming against his thigh, jaw tight, eyes too bright as he sheds his jacket and throws it toward the armchair.
they know this version of him. the post-show unraveling.
"grounding," he mutters, more to himself than to them, though his gaze finds theirs across the hotel suite.
it’s a suite because the label pays for it, two rooms connected by a sitting area with a sagging couch and a flatscreen that’s already blaring some american reality show at half volume.
joe’s already collapsed onto the couch, remote in hand, not even bothering with the pretense of going to his own room. ash is digging through the minibar, and mark’s staring at his phone, thumb scrolling mechanically. they’re debris from the storm of the evening, settling into their respective corners with the easy exhaustion of touring musicians who have seen too many hotel ceilings to count.
they’re standing near the window when william crosses the space between them. he’s still wearing the black trousers from stage, the button-up shirt half-unbuttoned and clinging to the sweat-damp plane of his chest. he smells like cigarette smoke from the alley outside the venue, like stale beer and his own sharp, musky scent, the olfactory ghost of performance still clinging to his skin.
"need you," he says, and it’s not a question. it’s the task. the ritual.
his hands find their hips, large and rough from guitar strings, and he’s walking them backward until the back of their knees hit the plush ottoman situated deliberately, fatefully, directly beside the couch where the rest of lovejoy has set up camp for the evening. they don’t look up. they never look up anymore.
"william," they breathe, and he’s already sinking to his knees, his long frame folding with a dancer’s grace that contradicts the carnal intent darkening his features.
"need to taste you," he murmurs, fingers hooking into the waistband of their jeans, dragging them down with their underwear in one efficient tug. the fabric pools around their ankles. the air hits their exposed skin, raising gooseflesh, but then his mouth is there, hot and open, and the chill evaporates.
he doesn’t tease. not tonight. the gig is still thrumming in his blood, that manic energy that makes his hands shake unless he has an anchor, something to focus on with singular, consuming intensity. they are his task. his grounding. the method by which william gold comes back down to earth.
his tongue drags flat and broad against their slit, gathering the wetness already gathering there from the look in his eye alone, and they gasp, their fingers flying to his hair, those dark, disheveled curls still stiff with product from the stage. he groans against them, the vibration sending shockwaves up their spine, and pulls them closer, seating them fully on the ottoman so he can spread their thighs wider.
"fuck," ash mutters from the vicinity of the minibar, but it’s distracted, casual.
he cracks open a soda, the hiss of carbonation mixing with the wet, explicit sounds of william’s mouth working between their legs. on the couch, joe laughs at something on the television, a contestant crying over a ruined cake, something absurdly mundane, and mark’s phone buzzes, a text notification chiming bright and cheerful.
none of them look over.
william’s tongue finds their clit, circling with the precise, devastating rhythm he’s learned over months of these hotel rituals. he’s panting through his nose, his hands gripping their thighs hard enough to leave bruises that will bloom purple by morning, souvenirs of the descent. the contrast is maddening: the filthy intimacy of his mouth devouring them, the obscene sound of him eating, truly, ravenously eating them out, while three feet away, joe changes the channel to a nature documentary about deep-sea fish.
"good?" william asks, the word muffled, smeared against their flesh.
he looks up at them through dark lashes, his lips swollen and shining, his pupils blown wide with that post-gig mania finally finding its outlet.
"yes," they whine, arching into his face, shameless because the neutrality of the room demands it.
if they don’t care, if this is just background noise to their decompression, the tv’s static, the minibar’s clink, william’s mouth on their cunt, then they can be loud. they can be desperate.
he doubles down, sucking their clit between his teeth with a gentle, threatening pressure that makes their vision spot. one of his hands leaves their thigh, and they hear the jangle of his belt buckle, the zip of his trousers. he’s freeing himself, stroking his own length in rough, quick pulls as he feasts on them, the wet sounds layering together into a symphony of depravity that the bbc documentary narration politely ignores.
"william," they gasp, and it’s half warning, half prayer.
they’re close, coiling tight in their belly, the obscenity of the situation, knees spread on a hotel ottoman, boyfriend’s face buried between their thighs while his bandmates debate whether to order pizza, burning through their last inhibitions.
he feels them tightening, fluttering around the two fingers he’s suddenly pressing inside, curling them against that rough patch of sensitivity while his tongue lashes their clit. he’s messy now, unhinged, his chin dripping with them, his breath ragged and loud enough that mark actually has to turn up the tv volume to hear the narrator explain the mating habits of anglerfish.
the irony isn’t lost on them, but then william crooks his fingers just so, bites down with perfect, bruising sweetness, and they’re coming with a cry that finally, finally, makes joe glance over.
"christ," joe says, but it’s amused, exasperated.
"at least let us change the channel before you finish them off, yeah? some of us are trying to watch this."
william doesn’t stop. if anything, the acknowledgment spurs him on, his free hand moving faster on his own cock, the wet sounds of his fist mixing with the sounds of his mouth. he’s grinding against the edge of the ottoman now, humping the furniture like a teenager while he wrings their orgasm out with ruthless, loving efficiency.
they come undone, shuddering, their heels drumming against his back as they grind against his face, using him shamelessly to ride out the aftershocks. he groans, the sound vibrating through their oversensitive flesh, and then he’s pulling back just enough to let them see him, cheeks flushed, mouth wrecked, eyes glazed with the specific high of performance finally, finally bleeding out into satiation.
he finishes himself with two quick, brutal tugs, spilling over his own fist with a guttural groan that seems to shake the cheap hotel art on the walls. he sags against their thighs, his forehead resting on their hip, his breathing slowly evening out from the ragged gasps of a frontman to the steady rhythm of a man grounded. centered. home.
he presses a kiss to their inner thigh, lingering, reverent.
"better?" they ask softly, running their fingers through his sweaty hair.
"yeah," he exhales.
"yeah, i’m good now."
ash tosses a packet of crisps onto the coffee table.
"pizza’s here in twenty," he announces, as if nothing has happened.
as if william isn’t still kneeling between their legs, tucking himself back into his trousers with shaking hands.
"you two want pepperoni?"
william looks up at them, his smile slow and sated, the manic edge finally smoothed away into something soft and domestic and entirely his own.
"tasks complete," he murmurs, just for them, and presses one last, filthy kiss to their hipbone before settling back on his heels, ready to eat pizza with the band like he hadn’t just eaten them alive in front of them.

he wants to be praised, play it up for a bigger reaction, stroke his ego. he’s big on ‘only him’, only he can make his partner feel this way—they belong to him—not technically a kink, but in short, he’s possessive!
☆ ☆ ☆
the relentless tap of rain against the single-pane window was the only soundtrack in wilbur’s cluttered studio apartment. they were curled in his gaming chair, idly spinning side to side, watching him. he stood by the window, shoulders tense, staring out at the slick, neon-streaked street below. a can of cheap energy drink sat sweating on the sill. he’d been silent since ending his stream thirty minutes ago, the boisterous, performative energy of “wilbur soot” evaporating to leave just william gold, quiet and intense.
“you’re thinking too loud,” they said, their voice soft against the rain’s percussion.
he didn’t turn. “my chat was insufferable tonight. a bunch of backseat gamers telling me how to play.” his tone was flat, but there was a vein of genuine irritation there, a need that hadn’t been met.
they stopped spinning the chair. “they’re just fans. they love you.”
that made him turn. in the gloom, lit only by the rgb glow of his pc and the distant streetlamp, his face was all sharp angles and shadow. the famous charm was absent, stripped bare. this was the man beneath the persona, and his gaze held a possessive heat that no webcam could ever broadcast.
“they love a character,” he corrected, his voice dropping into that intimate, off-stream register that was for them alone. he pushed off from the window and crossed the small room in three strides, coming to a halt in front of them. he placed his hands on the arms of the gaming chair, caging them in, stopping the spin. “they don’t know what i’m like. not really. they don’t get to see this.”
his proximity was electric. they could smell the faint scent of his laundry detergent, the unique warmth of his skin. “see what?” they breathed, playing along, feeding the hunger they saw in his eyes.
a slow, knowing smile spread across his lips. he leaned down, his nose brushing theirs. “how good i can be,” he murmured, the words a hot whisper against their mouth. “when i’m not performing for them. when it’s just for you.
his kiss wasn’t gentle. it was a claim. one hand came up to cradle their jaw, tilting their face to his as his lips moved over theirs with a focused intensity. it was different from the playful, distracted kisses during stream breaks. this was total, undivided attention. they melted into it, a soft sigh escaping them, their hands coming up to fist in the soft fabric of his well-worn hoodie.
he pulled back just an inch, his breath mingling with theirs. his eyes searched their face, looking for it—the effect. the proof. “that’s it,” he coaxed, his thumb stroking their cheekbone. “just let go. nobody else gets this. nobody else sees you come apart like this. only me.”
he kissed them again, deeper, his tongue sweeping into their mouth, and they moaned into him, the sound swallowed by his kiss. he drank it in, a low rumble of satisfaction vibrating in his own chest. he broke the kiss to trail his lips down their jaw, to the sensitive spot below their ear.
“say it,” he whispered, his teeth grazing their skin, making them shiver. “tell me who makes you feel like this.”
“you,” they gasped, arching into him as his hands slid down from the chair to their hips, gripping hard.
“louder.”
“you, will…” they whimpered, the duality of his names spilling from them.
he made a sound of pure approval, a dark, happy hum. “that’s right. all mine.” the words were a velvet-wrapped command. “every sigh, every shake, every little fucking noise you make—it’s because of me. i earned that. not them. me.”
he stood up abruptly, pulling them to their feet with him. the world tilted, and then their back was against the cool plaster wall beside his desk, his body pressing the length of theirs. the messy, public domain of his streaming life was just inches away—the mic, the chat still open on a monitor—but his focus was absolute, a laser beam on them.
his hands slid under their shirt, palms warm and slightly rough against their stomach, riding up until his thumbs brushed the sensitive skin just below their chest. they cried out, a short, sharp sound.
“shhh, let me hear it,” he said, his voice thick with want. “i want to hear everything. they,” he jerked his head toward the setup, “get the curated version. the jokes, the songs. but this? this raw, beautiful fucking truth? this is my private stream. my exclusive content.”
he kissed them with a consuming focus, his body pinning theirs to the wall. when he pulled back, his eyes were dark, pupils blown wide in the low light.
"that's it," he murmured, his voice a rough scrape. "let them have the echo. they get the performance." his hands tightened on their hips, pulling them flush against him, letting them feel the hard, insistent line of his arousal through his jeans. a shudder ran through them. "but this? this reaction? this is my direct feed. no buffering. no delay."
he ducked his head, his lips finding the column of their throat, sucking a mark into their skin that they knew would bloom purple by morning. they gasped, their fingers tangling in his messy brown hair.
"tell me," he breathed against the damp skin, his tongue soothing the sting. "who makes you gasp like that? who makes your heart beat so fast i can feel it?"
"you," they managed, the word trembling.
"who do you belong to when you're falling apart?" his hand slid down, palming them through their pants, a firm, deliberate pressure that made their knees buckle. he held them up easily, his other arm a steel band around their waist.
"you. only you, will."
the sound he made was pure, unadulterated triumph. a deep, possessive growl that vibrated from his chest into theirs. he walked them backwards, never breaking contact, until the backs of their legs hit the edge of his unmade bed. they tumbled onto it, and he followed them down, covering them, his weight a delicious anchor.
he looked down at them, propped on his elbows, his face serious. the playful streamer was utterly gone. in his place was a man obsessed with proof.
"i need to hear you say it again. when it's not just words. when you can't think straight."
he kissed them, deep and languid, as his hands worked open the button of their jeans, slid the zipper down. his touch was unhurried, maddeningly sure. he knew exactly what he was doing, every brush of his fingers calculated to wind them tighter. when he finally slipped his hand inside their underwear, finding them wet and aching for him, a broken moan tore from their throat. his eyes locked onto theirs, watching every flicker of pleasure on their face.
"there it is," he whispered, his own breath coming faster.
"the real thing. no filters. no facecam to hide behind. just you, coming undone because of my hands. because i know exactly how to touch you." he curled his fingers, stroking a particular spot that made them arch off the bed with a sharp cry. "isn't that right? tell me."
"yes! god, yes, only you—" they choked out, their hips rocking against his hand, seeking more, chasing the coil of heat he was tightening with ruthless precision. he lowered his head, his lips beside their ear.
"they'd lose their minds if they knew," he said, a hint of that familiar, wicked humor returning, but darker now, intimate. "if they knew their funny, chaotic wilbur could reduce someone to this. to a begging, shaking mess. but they don't get to know. this is my secret. my prize."
he added a second finger, stretching them, the burn of it exquisite. their cries grew louder, less coherent. he drank in every sound, his own control fraying. they could see it in the tight clench of his jaw, the fevered gleam in his eye.
"look at me," he commanded, his voice guttural.
"i want to see it happen. i want to watch the moment you forget there's anyone else in the world who could ever make you feel this."
they forced their eyes open, drowning in his gaze as he worked them with a steady, devastating rhythm. the pressure built, a cresting wave, their breaths coming in ragged sobs. they were babbling, a stream of please and will and yours.
"that's it," he coaxed, his voice thick with pride and lust, "come on. give it to me. let me see what only i can do."
the orgasm broke over them like a thunderclap, violent and all-consuming. they shattered with a raw, loud cry, their body bowing off the mattress as he held them through it, his fingers gentling but not stopping, milking every last pulse of sensation until they were limp and boneless, gasping for air.
he slowly withdrew his hand, bringing his glistening fingers to his own lips, never breaking eye contact. he sucked them clean, a slow, deliberate act that made heat flood their cheeks anew. "perfect," he stated, the word final. he leaned down, kissing them softly, a stark contrast to the intensity of moments before. it was a sealing kiss. a branding one.
he settled beside them, pulling them into his side, their head on his chest where they could hear the frantic, triumphant hammer of his heart. he pressed a kiss to their hair.
"nobody gets this," he said quietly, his voice full of a serene, absolute certainty.
"nobody gets you. just me."

based off the thought of someone telling you that you have to be quiet with their hand over your mouth, just to fuck you harder so all you can do is moan and whine.
☆ ☆ ☆
the rain lashed against the windowpane of the high-rise apartment, a steady, rhythmic percussion that matched the frantic beat of their heart. the city lights below were a smear of gold and neon through the water-streaked glass, a distant world that had nothing to do with the heat trapped inside this room, with the man currently pinning them to the plush, expensive rug.
william gold—wilbur to his friends, a name that carried the weight of indie music fame and internet notoriety—was not their friend tonight. his usual easy grin was gone, replaced by a focused, almost predatory intensity. one large hand was splayed across their lower back, holding them down, while the other...
the other was over their mouth.
his palm was warm and slightly rough against their lips, his fingers curling around the curve of their jaw. they could smell the faint scent of his cologne, something smoky and expensive, and the sharper, more intimate scent of his skin.
"you have to be quiet," he murmured, his voice a low, velvet rasp directly beside their ear. his breath was hot. "the walls in this building are paper-thin, love. and the last thing i need is my neighbors calling the building manager because they heard... this."
this. the slow, deliberate drag of him inside them, a thick, relentless stretch that stole the air from their lungs. they tried to arch back, to meet him, but his hand on their back was an immovable anchor. he set the pace, and it was a slow, torturous burn, each withdrawal almost complete before he'd sink back in, deeper, filling them up until they felt him in their throat.
a whimper vibrated against his palm, muffled and desperate. their eyes screwed shut, nails digging into the wool of the rug.
"i know," he cooed, and the gentleness in his tone was a brutal contrast to the punishing slowness of his hips. "i know it's good. but quiet. be good for me and keep it down."
he was lying. they could see it in the dark gleam of his eyes when they managed to crack theirs open, in the way his own control was fraying at the edges. a muscle ticked in his jaw. a fine sheen of sweat glistened on his collarbone, visible where his black shirt was unbuttoned halfway down his chest. he wanted to hear them break. this was the game.
he shifted his weight, the angle changing, and the next thrust wasn't slow. it was a hard, driving piston that punched a ragged, choked sound from their chest, a sound his hand swallowed whole. their body jerked like a live wire.
"ah-ah," he tutted, but his own breath hitched. he began to move in earnest then, abandoning the teasing pace for something raw and demanding. each snap of his hips was a jolt of pure, white-hot sensation, a friction so perfect it bordered on pain. the wet, slick sounds of their joining filled the room, obscene and loud in the space their voice was denied.
the pressure built, a coil tightening low in their abdomen, spiraling tighter and tighter with every brutal, perfect stroke. moans piled up behind the prison of his hand, becoming frantic, pleading vibrations. they were panting through their nose, breaths coming in sharp, whistling bursts. tears pricked at the corners of their eyes from the overwhelming need to cry out, to let the world know how beautifully he was ruining them.
he watched them fall apart, his gaze hungry and unwavering.
"that's it," he growled, his voice thick with strain. "take it. just take it. all you can do is feel it." he leaned closer, his lips brushing the shell of their ear. "all you can do is moan and whine for me, and i get to keep every fucking sound for myself."
his words tipped them over the edge. the coil snapped. pleasure detonated through their veins, a silent, screaming supernova that locked their muscles and bowed their spine. a high, thin keen escaped around the edges of his fingers, the only vocalization they could manage as the waves crashed through them, relentless and electric.
feeling them clench and pulse around him shattered the last of his control. with a guttural groan he couldn't suppress, he buried himself to the hilt, his hand clamping harder over their mouth as his own release tore through him. they felt the hot rush deep inside, the frantic pulse of him, the full-body shudder that wracked his frame as he collapsed over them, his forehead dropping to their shoulder.
for long minutes, the only sounds were the rain, the hum of the central air, and their combined, ragged breathing. slowly, carefully, he peeled his hand away from their mouth. their lips felt bruised, tender. they drew in a deep, shuddering gasp of cool air, the first full breath they'd taken in what felt like hours.
he nuzzled into the crook of their neck, pressing a soft, incongruously sweet kiss to their damp skin.
"fuck," he breathed, the word laden with awe and exhaustion. his arms came around them, rolling them both onto their sides, still joined, a tangled mess of limbs on the floor.
he looked at them then, his brown eyes soft, the predator gone, replaced by the wilbur they knew—the one with the clever smile and the crinkles at the corners of his eyes. he brushed a strand of hair from their sticky forehead.
"you," he said, his thumb tracing their swollen lower lip, "are incredibly loud." a grin, real and bright, finally broke through. "good thing i was here to handle it."

the dream had been a feverish, sweat-soaked thing.
hips grinding into the sheets, groan, tug, repeat.
william gold didn’t dream of sex—or at least, he never remembered dreaming of it. his subconscious was usually occupied with quieter anxieties: a forgotten homework assignment, the echo of his father’s disapproval, the precise way light fell through the oak tree outside his childhood window. but last night… last night was different.
in the dream, he wasn’t himself. he was a creature of pure, hungry impulse. the sheets were a tangled prison, his hips grinding into the mattress with a slow, relentless rhythm. a low groan vibrated in his throat, swallowed by the pillow his face was mashed against. in the vivid theater behind his eyelids, it wasn’t a pillow. it was their neck. their skin was warm and smelled like vanilla and rain, a scent he’d catalogued without meaning to during study sessions that stretched too long in their living room. in the dream, his lips were on that spot just below their ear, his groan—raw and sexual—a hot puff of air against their skin as he snapped his hips forward, meeting an imagined resistance that felt devastatingly real. his hands, which in reality were fisted in his cotton sheets, tugging lightly with each strained thrust, were tangled in their hair. soft, messy, exactly as it looked when they’d run their fingers through it in frustration over calculus.
his body was a coiled spring winding tighter, tighter. the groans became less stifled, slipping into the quiet of his bedroom—short, punched-out sounds.
“god…” his hips stuttered, losing their rhythm, movements turning sloppy and desperate as the pressure built low in his gut, a taut wire about to snap. the fantasy was so potent, so physical, it bypassed all his usual filters. it was just sensation: the heat, the friction, the image of their face flushed and their lips parted.
his eyes flew open as the climax ripped through him. reality crashed back in—the grey dawn light seeping around his blinds, the familiar crack in his ceiling, the damp chill of sweat on his back—but it was too late. his hips jerked forward one last, grinding time as the orgasm pulsed, wringing a long, low groan from deep in his chest, a sound he muffled desperately into the feather-down of his pillow. for a few seconds, he just lay there, hips making minute, aftershock circles, riding out the fading waves of pleasure that were already curdling into immediate, profound shame.
he rolled onto his back with a heavy, exhausted sigh, throwing an arm over his eyes.
“fuck,” he whispered to the empty room. the word hung in the air, accusatory. he checked the time on his phone: 6:17 am. a strange, hollow gratitude washed over him. he lived alone in this small apartment, a fact he’d sometimes lament for its quiet loneliness. now, it was a sanctuary. no roommate to hear, no awkward morning-after questions. just him and the ghost of a dream that felt less like a fantasy and more like a betrayal.
the shower was punishingly cold. he scrubbed his skin roughly, as if he could scour the memory away. he dressed with mechanical precision: dark jeans, a simple grey sweater, the brown corduroy jacket they’d once said made him look like a brooding poet. each action was a brick in a wall he was trying to build between that version of himself—the one panting into a pillow, dreaming of his best friend’s body—and the one who had to face them today. they’re your best friend. he chanted internally, brushing his teeth with aggressive focus.
your best friend. don’t be a creep. don’t screw this up. it was just a dream. it means nothing.
but his body, still humming with a residual, traitorous energy, called him a liar.
the walk to campus did little to clear his head. the autumn air was crisp, carrying the smell of fallen leaves and distant woodsmoke. it was the kind of morning they loved, they’d always said it felt full of possibility. today, it felt like a taunt. he rounded the corner towards the social sciences building, his usual meeting spot with them, and his heart performed a clumsy, heavy somersault in his chest.
there they were. leaning against the red brick wall, scrolling through their phone, a steaming paper cup of tea in their other hand. they were wearing that oversized burgundy sweater, the one that slipped off one shoulder, and their hair was a bit windswept. they looked… they looked like they always did. beautiful. familiar. his.
the moment they spotted him, a smirk bloomed on their face, erasing the early morning softness. it was a smirk that promised gentle torment. his stomach clenched.
“well, look what the cat dragged in,” they called out, pushing off the wall. “you’re making that face, will. the one that says your brain is trying to solve a quadratic equation written in ancient greek. it’s going to give you permanent wrinkles, you know.” they reached up and poked the space between his furrowed brows. he managed a weak eye-roll, catching their wrist before they could retreat.
“you know me so well,” he mumbled, the words coming out gruffer than intended. he released their wrist to fake a yawn, stretching his arms over his head to buy a second, to try and steady the sudden, dizzying rush of the dream-memory—his hands, their hair.
they fell into step beside him, sipping their tea. “rough night? you seem… off.”
“just didn’t sleep great,” he deflected, shoving his hands into his jacket pockets.
they nudged him with their elbow, tone light, teasing. “i bet. probably stayed up all night thinking about how tragically, madly in love with me you are. it’s a common ailment, i hear.”
he stiffened. for one terrifying, heart-stopping second, he thought they knew. that his subconscious had somehow broadcasted the sordid details directly to them. then he saw the glint in their eye, the playful curve of their lip, and the panic receded, leaving him shaky. he forced a laugh, hoping it didn’t sound as hysterical as it felt.
“totally,” he played along, the script comforting in its familiarity. “couldn’t sleep for imagining our epic romance. me, sweeping you off your feet. us, riding two sorry-looking campus rental bikes into the sunset while a terrible pop love song plays. the whole cliché.” he nudged them back, offering a fond smile that felt like a fragile mask.
they gasped dramatically, clutching their chest. “william gold! you’ve dreamed of our soundtrack? i’m touched!”
the saving grace of the first-period bell shattered the moment. their eyes went wide. “shit, i’ve got poli-sci across campus! we’ll talk later!” they were off in a flash, a blur of burgundy and flying hair, leaving him standing alone in the suddenly-too-quiet hallway.
the day passed in a miserable, distracted haze. lectures were a drone of white noise. notes he took were nonsensical scribbles. his mind was a broken record stuck between two tracks:
tell them. just tell them. you kissed them in the dream, and it felt more real than anything. tell them before you lose your nerve.
and the counterpoint, cold and pragmatic:
are you insane? they were joking this morning. joking. that’s what you do. you tease. you’re friends. tell them about that dream? they’ll look at you with horror. they’ll take a step back. you’ll watch the ease between you curdle into awkwardness, and then distance, and then nothing. you’ll have killed the best thing in your life for a fantasy.
by the time final bell rang, the internal war had left him ragged. he found them at their locker, and the words left his mouth before he could second-guess them.
“come to my place. now. i have to tell you something.” his voice was low, urgent, stripped of all its usual lazy humor.
they blinked, surprise wiping their expression clean for a second. but they just nodded, slinging their backpack over one shoulder. “okay. lead the way.”
the silence in his apartment was oppressive. he tossed his keys on the counter with a loud clatter, the sound absurdly loud. they leaned against the kitchen island, watching him as he paced the short length of the living room rug, wearing a path in the pile.
“will, what’s—”
“don’t,” he interrupted, raising a hand. he stopped pacing, finally forcing himself to meet their gaze. their eyes were wide, concerned, utterly trusting. it almost broke him. “don’t say anything. not one thing. i need to get this out right now, or i’m going to chicken out and live with this… this thing eating me alive.”
he took a shuddering breath, the air feeling thin. “i’m in love with you. and— and i have to tell you because you’re my best friend, and i had this dream. a really intense, completely inappropriate dream that you should not have about your best friend.” the words were tumbling out now, a chaotic avalanche. “and you definitely, absolutely do not have to return these feelings, but please, just don’t… don’t look at me like i’m a monster, just don’t leave, i can’t—”
their kiss cut off the ramble, not with softness, but with a decisive, rough certainty. his brain short-circuited. for a split second, the dream and reality superimposed—the warmth of their neck, the feel of them—and then his body reacted on pure, primal instinct.
a low, punched-out groan vibrated from his throat into their mouth as his hands flew to their hips, gripping them hard enough to feel the bone beneath their sweater. the satisfaction was instantaneous and overwhelming, a key sliding into a lock he hadn’t known was empty. their response was just as fierce; their hands tangled in the hair at the nape of his neck, tilting his head, deepening the kiss from something surprising into something hungry and deep.
rational thought dissolved. there was only the feel of their lips moving against his, the soft sound they made in the back of their throat, the way their body arched into his. in what felt like both an eternity and a single heartbeat, his arms were around them, lifting them. their legs wrapped around his waist instinctively, and he carried them the few stumbling steps to the nearest wall—the closet door in the hallway—pinning them against it with a soft thud. the friction was exquisite, maddening. he ground his hips forward, seeking relief for an ache that had been building since dawn, and a ragged moan escaped him, swallowed by their mouth.
the kiss turned sloppy, wet, desperate. their hands yanked at the hem of his sweater, breaking apart just long enough to pull it over his head and toss it blindly behind him. his hands followed suit, groping greedily over the soft curves of their chest through their sweater before finding the hem and pulling it off. the garment joined his on the floor, a trail of discarded normalcy.
their palms slid over his chest, his shoulders, mapping the tense, eager muscles.
“wil,” they breathed against his lips, their voice husky, “bed. now.”
he didn’t need telling twice. he carried them the rest of the way to his bedroom, laying them down in the center of his rumpled sheets—the same sheets from his dream, a fact that sent a fresh, hot jolt through him. he crawled over them, his body slotting between their thighs, and immediately ground down again, the denim of his jeans a rough barrier against their bare skin. a deep, guttural groan rumbled from his chest.
“fuck,” he muttered, his mouth finding theirs again as his hands fumbled with the button of their jeans. they helped him, kicking them off along with their underwear. his own pants and boxers followed in a hurried, clumsy push, and then there was nothing between them but heat and want.
he kissed them, hard, as he positioned himself at their entrance. he teased, just the barest, slick tip of him pressing in, then retreating. a sexually frustrated, beautiful groan tumbled from their lips, their hips canting up, trying to chase him, to take him in.
“wil— please—”
his control, so tightly wound all day, snapped. patience was for another lifetime. with a sharp, driving roll of his hips, he sheathed himself fully inside them in one smooth, deep stroke.
the dual moans that filled the room were raw, unfiltered. his was a stunned, reverent “oh, god…” as the tight, wet heat of them enveloped him, a feeling a thousand times more profound than any dream. theirs was a higher, breathy cry of his name, their head falling back against the pillows, eyes squeezing shut.
for a moment, he was still, buried to the hilt, forehead pressed to theirs, panting, drowning in the sensation. then instinct took over. he drew back and snapped his hips forward again, setting a fast, urgent rhythm from the start. one of their hands fisted in his hair, the other clawing at the back of his neck, holding him to them. he braced one hand by their head, the other finding their hip, his thumb digging into the soft flesh as he drove into them.
“wil— right there, fuck—“ they groaned, the words breaking as their own hips bucked up to meet his thrusts, forcing a deeper, lower moan from him. he bit his own lip, the sharp pain a grounding counterpoint to the pleasure coiling tight in his gut. he buried his face in the curve of their neck, exactly as he had in the dream, but this was real—the salt-sweet taste of their skin, the frantic pulse under his lips, the way they gasped when he sucked a mark there.
the pace was brutal, perfect. the room filled with the sound of skin slapping against skin, ragged breathing, and the creak of the bed frame. their legs tightened around his waist, heels digging into the small of his back, angling him deeper. and then they cried out, a sharp, shattered sound, as he hit a spot inside them that made their entire body tense.
“don’t stop, please, don’t stop,” they pleaded, their voice a wrecked whisper in his ear.
he was close, so close, the edge a bright, blinding line. seeing them come undone, feeling the subtle, fluttering clench of their inner muscles around him, tipped him over. “i’m gonna…” he warned, his voice strangled.
they gave a slight nod, head burying in the pillow beneath them as their second climax hit them. their back arching off the bed, a string of obscene, beautiful moans pouring from their lips as they clenched around him rhythmically.
it was too much. with three final, deep, grinding thrusts, he followed them, his own release tearing through him with a force that stole his vision and his breath. a long, ragged groan was torn from his throat, muffled against their shoulder as he spilled himself inside them, hips stuttering through the pulses until he was spent, collapsed atop them, trembling and slick with sweat.
for long minutes, the only sounds were the frantic hammering of two hearts slowing into syncopation, and the harsh, shared struggle for air. the ghost of the dream was gone, exorcised by a reality that was messier, louder, and infinitely more real. he’d screwed it up, or he’d started something new. lying there, with their fingers slowly carding through his damp hair, he found, for the first time that day, that he didn’t care which it was.
