âI read this fic you recommended. I read it because of youâ is a love language
as a writer, itâs very important that you know this: whenever you tell yourself âthis will only be one-chapter-longâ that is a lie. your brain is lying to you. it wonât, in fact, be just a short one-shot
Have you sought feedback on the WIP you have?
no. I write for myself and my own enjoyment. but if I ever want feedback, I have my friends whom I know and trust, whose opinions I value, for that
If I may ask, do you have a WIP you are working on?
I always have a lot of WIPs I am working on. the last time I donât have any WIP to work on was about almost a decade ago before I started writing fics, so yeah I⊠donât remember what itâs like to have no WIPs haunting me. also when I finish something, I always start another immediately
my phone autocorrecting fanfiction to fabrication might be my last straw
âI want to write a fic about this but I donât think anybody will be interested in itâ ummm hello excuse me maâam what do you mean you donât think anybody will be interested in it??? YOU. YOU ARE INTERESTED IN IT???? write it because YOU are interested in it and YOU want to write about it. fanfic writing should always be first and foremost about YOUR enjoyment, not other peopleâs.
the authorâs barely disguised love, joy and passion that they have for the characters, writing and their stories
insane to me how, to some people, this is not a common sense
âa scientist will see a mouse and say put that beast in a situationâ ok a fanfic writer will see a blorbo and say put that man in a situation
fanfic writers who type their works directly onto ao3 instead of copy-and-pasting from elsewhere have no fear. fear fears them.
what if im not sure if i have a writing style? ive been writing fanfiction and original works for 7 years now but i don't feel like i have a style. im planning a big original work and i feel like i need a style nut maybe i just don't recognize mine? do you think having a style is vital or it's no big deal if i don't have it?
I donât think a writer needs to have a style. more often than not, they do have their own style, even if they donât notice it. but if they donât, thatâs fine.
in my opinion, whether or not someone has their own writing style is irrelevant. what matters is if you have fun writing and if writing makes you happy.
(me with fanfics except I keep writing them)
Iâm a bit worried about pro shippers because some say fiction doesnât effect reality but it does and some pro shippers ship things like adult x child and sibling x sibling and other things Iâm not anti censorship but some things shouldnât be normalized
I promise you if game of thrones and all those gothic literature haven't normalized incest â if slasher and horror movies haven't normalized murders or psychological torture, if hot villains haven't normalized manipulation or toxicity by now â then silly fanfiction isn't going to normalize shit.
if someone ever lets fiction affect them enough to the point they think bad things in fiction are good in-real-life because they're portrayed as such, then chances are that, with or without the fiction they consume, they are already troubled and they need help.
there are things you can worry about that are actually worrisome, but what type of fanfiction someone writes or reads is not one of those things.
you can, of course, find some things in fiction unpleasant. you can choose not to engage with fanfics that make you uncomfortable. but you have no right to tell other people what they can or can't create and/or consume. that is not your business.
and to my fellow writers, write whatever you want, however you want. no matter how messed up or morally questionable it is. you have all the freedom and power to write whatever you want, however you want forever. don't let strangers tell you what you can or cannot write.
write it anyway even if you think itâs bad. a badly written fic is still better than a nonexistent fic.
Hey, do you write about idols or K-pop in general?
no, sorry. I am actually not comfortable with rpfs, as mentioned on my other blog here
being a writer is
50% daydreaming about plots and writing
50% procrastinating/suffering during the actual writing process
