Do I look friendlier with a kitten? The past few years there have been several major media campaigns by LGBTQ+ organizations around the country on transgender access to restrooms. I was in meetings for some of these projects. One of the most common requests among them was to only present the most feminine, gender-conforming trans women in their advertisements. Effectively, while appealing to the general public, the ads would erase gender nonconforming people entirely. Gender nonconforming people are not scary. I hope that through drawing more attention to the failure of these strategies, we can help build more support for our whole communities.

If you’ve ever dissected an animal in biology class, did you ever wonder where it came from? Maybe your teacher said that someone just found the animal dead already. 

The truth is, it more than likely came from a biological supply company, like Bio Corporation, which sells dead animals for study.

But they’re not always dead when they come to the facility to be injected with preservative chemicals and sold in bulk to schools. In fact, Bio Corporation is charged with 25 counts of animal cruelty for the allegedly illegal ways in which they killed pigeons and crayfish. If found guilty, they could face up to 6 years in prison and fines of up to $25,000.
