when sally sees bunnie's ass
Actually y'know what? That Shrek shitpost had truth to it. This is notes I took for Bunnie's characterization. Could be useful/interesting for anyone else who wants to know more about this under-appreciated character.
The layers of Bunnie Rabbot
Tough - The side of her that most see. She's the tough as nails cyborg Freedom Fighter that hits hard. In a world of techno-tyrants and robophobes, Bunnie has to be on her guard. As a Freedom Fighter she has to be ready for a fight. From her humble upbringing with Uncle Beauregard, she's not afraid to get her hands dirty and partake in more "masculine" labor, be it as a farmhand, construction, and so on. Despite this mostly being a front, she does value her toughness and her altered abilities, going as far as wishing to re-roboticize herself after getting de-roboticized by Naugus so that she can be a force to be reckoned with again, although this also overlaps with her insecurity.
Sassy - One of Bunnie's underappreciated aspects is her sarcasm. As early as her very first on-screen appearance she's cracking wise at how useless Antoine is behaving. She's usually this way with people who push her patience or when she just can't help it.
Sweet - Probably the trait Bunnie gets Flanderized with the most, but for good reason. We mostly see Bunnie from the perspective of her friends, and those are the people who she's the most sweet and kind to since she trusts them. She doesn't have to put up her tough facade around them unless they need to rely on her. This can overlap with her sass in the form of playful jokes. If she didn't have to worry about prejudice and techno-tyrants, Bunnie would have this as her outermost layer. She loves her friends. This layer and the next two are honestly interchangeable in their position, but it's placed here due to visibility to more of the other characters.
Free Spirit - Bunnie's a principled Freedom Fighter. She believes in the cause beyond petty loyalties (unlike characters like Geoffrey and early Antoine). She's Sally's best friend despite her beloved and generally supportive father figure Uncle Beau hating the Acorn Royal Family. She simply does what she wants. This often overlaps with her sweet side and her sassy sense of humor with her flirtatiousness and dirty jokes.
Insecure - Her deep character flaw and the secret ingredient that makes her an interesting character. Very few characters experience this side of her, and it's usually when her cybernetics are on the fritz. Of all of her friends, Sally is likely the one that's the most familiar with this side of Bunnie as the two have a very close bond and help each other work through their emotional issues. Same goes for Antoine in continuities where she's married to him. This, I believe, goes deeper than her cybernetics since she seems to have complicated, mixed feelings about her condition. She values her appearance generally and is self-conscious about it even before roboticization. She sees herself as undesirable. She sees herself as a potential threat to her friends. While she tries to stay optimistic, she can't help but feel the weight of everything push her into self-doubt.
Y'see, the thing people don't understand about Bunnie Rabbot is that she has layers.
I'm up to somethin
- Bun
I particularly like Bunnie's exposed robo-spine there. Kinda spooky, appropriate for the body horror of roboticization.
Funny thing is it's also kinda like a mix of these two early SATAM concept sketches
Been havin ideas for an alternate route for Rabbot the Red where it gets even worse n it's been in my head rent free so have some conceptual sketches.
-Bun
Rabbot the Red's robians that haven't had their minds jailbroken are even more zombie-like than in vanilla SATAM/Archie, especially when they become worn out and broken down from constant, unending work. In this state of disrepair, they make for a good n cruel portable roboticization solution.
It's kind of like Metal Virus if it was more controlled, and the roboticization process it causes is more like in Bunnie's Nightmare from Archie. It's a feature in subjects that are fully roboticized by Robotnik. The nanites that make it happen are transmittable through bites instead of touch for the sake of control (and pain).
The really cruel part is that, much like in the source material, they still have their minds. They're fully aware, but have no ability to control themselves. They're left to witness themselves being worked til breaking and their bodies continuing to shamble around til they can't. After that point, they're processed into metal for construction and Badnik/SWATbot production.
It is the only form of recycling that Dr. Robotnik endorses, which he does with sadistic glee.
Leaving Mobotropolis.
Sally raised her head to stare out the train window. Outside, Mobotropolis driifted by in what seemed like a slow crawl. It’d been a long time since she’d been able to just take in the city from such a high vantage point, and it filled her with pain.
Robotnik was dead by his own hands. The city almost was too. Its scars ran deep, and it almost seemed like it was hanging on through sheer bitterness. No, not bitterness. Hope. The city was more than its crumbling infrastructure, or its abandoned factories. Homes were starting to be rebuilt and the people were starting to fill them. Clean up crews worked around the clock to remove toxic waste dumps and repair power grids. Some even had clean running water.
Several groups of brave fighters were venturing into the areas of the city where automated security was still active. Some had lost their lives doing so. Somehow, Robotnnik was still claiming lives, even after his own demise. Sally’s eyes drifted to a prominent building. The Imperial Palace, once her own home before being converted into Robotnik’s center of operations, towered over the city. Bathed in the glow of the setting sun, it seemed like a dagger plunged into Mobotropolis’ heart. She still hadn’t decided if she wanted to reclaim it, or tear it to the ground.
Sally watched as the palace vanished from sight. She wasn’t even sure where the train was going. Robotnik had converted most of the city’s public transit into military or cargo transports. The Royal Princess had been stripped of its fineries and shuttered away, kept almost like some kind of trophy for Robotnik to squander and laud over. The rescue team had found it by accident while removing rubble from the city streets and managed to get it up and running again.
A few minutes passed, and the city turned to forest. Sally reached down and unclipped Nicole from her boot. Connected to her pocket device was a set of headphones. She put them into her ears, lay back against the chair, closed her eyes, and hit play.

This is actually a fun take on Sonally! Good stuff.
Been workin on RtR Robotnik concepts cause I felt the design I already had needed to be more unhinged and creepy. A deceptive man hungry for power twisted by his own greed and hatred.
It's unclear to the denizens of Mobius how much of "the Good Doctor" is still man or machine after his rise to power.
Almost forgot to gush about Bunnie getting to wreck Robotnik's shit. They call her the can opener - cause she really knows how to open a can of Whoop-Ass!
Also this was funny
The Sonic vs. Tails bit was funny to me?? Like seeing Tails emote like this is really out of pocket when you're used to him barely being expressive at all. It's cute, like a bunny thumping. Cute, but you still feel a lil bad about it lol
Also him making up with Sonic was cute <3
But also holy shit Sonic was kind of a dick in this story. Not much of a complaint, I'm glad that Sonic's not always right or perfect and has things like this that he has to check his ego for. It's nice, makes him a more compelling character.
Shit was turnin into somethin out of this blog's AU for a bit lmao
Really glad that it was Sally who took charge n sorted it all out in a productive manner n changed things for the better. Brings her back to proving her worth as a leader, cause frankly she's way better than her dad and brother are at this lmao
And honestly the Council of Acorn makes way more sense for the Freedom Fighters than some stuffy king and his traditions undermining their actual leader (Sally!)
Interested to see where this goes next. c:
Antoine is the perfect beard
