Not diagnosing a child doesn't mean they won't notice they're different. It just means that instead of thinking "I'm struggling because I have autism/adhd/anxiety/depression/schizophrenia", they will just conclude that they are struggling because they are stupid, weak, annoying, unlovable, etc.

thinking about how 92sies didn’t get the love & attention it deserved at the time it came out bc it was WILDLY ahead of its time and how if more of Gen Z was aware of this film, they would EAT IT RIGHT UP bc the whole movie is about an entire generation of kids/teens who no one takes seriously but, nonetheless, they all work together to do anything they can to take down the wealthy, including riots & protests, which is what Gen Z has been doing for ages (but most especially within the last few months).

and this isn’t to say that the Livesies version isn’t just as great - bc of course it is - but when you see the 92sies cast & they’re literally all children/young adults, versus seeing any of the Livesie cast members who are all clearly NOT children/young adults (save Les) - it’s hard not to want to connect with the 92sies cast bc wow!!! they look like us!!!! & see what they did??? just like the REAL Newsies of 1899!!!! if THEY can do it, so can we!!!

anyways, this was just a long winded way of saying stan Newsies, 1992. they deserve even more love than they already get. thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.
