Honestly kinda feels good to be back. My life has gotten so much better. Left college, got basically my dream job ( full time and pays well too ) and I’m looking at houses with my wonderful partner. My mental health is the best it’s ever been and I’m so excited to be drawing regularly again.

That being said;

This is kinda my main art blog now! Newsies content may come round now and then, but it’ll largely be me drawing whatever I want and I’ll open some requests if I’m feelin it or need ideas. So! I HAVE A FEW: if you’re talking about the one in the most recent drawing though, that’s Mea. She’s a Dragonborn Monk, youngest and strongest of the Sylnestirin family. They’re mostly merchants and scholars ( her brother, Kamarul, is pictured in the second one. He’s who I’m currently playing in Descent into Avernus- I’m playing Mea in witchlight next. But I digress. )

She’s actually working to become a mount breeder in iraebor. Not your typical horses n shit. She’s got a giant pink chinchilla with wings nicknamed Assblaster 4000. The chinchilla’s actual name is Lady Marquis. Assblaster sounds less pretentious though, which she likes. Not that she hates the initial name. She raised and named the dang critter, it’s just more of the image she keeps for the stable than who she is personally.

When she was young, she actually was the only Sylnestirin to have initial magic power. Her siblings couldn’t really if they tried- save for Bellafen. They were able to do some through intense studying and learning the technicals- but they were really the only one to actually get a hang of it. However, they went to a carnival on their way to waterdeep. Their mom, Vreina, was a researcher of celestials and gods n whatnot. The kids took more to the 9 realms of hell kinda things; with Kamarul, Seil, and Bellafen pioneering the avernus research before Kamarul got knocked overboard and lost. There’s a whole thing don’t worry about it. But while they were at the carnival, this Fey woman asked if she could borrow some mystic prowess for a time. Mea, being super confident, bold and ignorant of fey things was like of course! I’ll help this woman! I’m big n strong and yadda yadda yadda. Woman stole her magic and she wasn’t able to do it anymore after. She’s pretty carefree so although disappointed, she chalked it up to a fluke and went about her life. Mea took the fact that she even had magic in the first place as a sign that’s what she was supposed to do, magic dealings. So she’s sort of figured out a way around the not having magic herself by breeding lowkey magic creatures! Her mom being a celestial scholar got her in with candlekeep ( as it did with all the kids and their incessant knack for research ) where she got most of her info! However! Recently she’s decided she wants to get it back!!! Her curiosity is getting the better of her, and she heard the carnival was back! She wondered what she could do with her service had she actually had magic of her own. What weird things could she do. What could she LEARN! So she wants to get her magic back and is gonna go to try to find that woman again!!!

Quick Sidenote: the sylnestirin family is kinda big but I’ll just give the sibling names & pronouns quick.

Oldest to youngest, childhood names included. 2 sets of eggs with their own hatching times. I have my own Dragonborn rules but I won’t go into those rounds. Yes kamarul’s birthday is 4/20/69 let me live.

Ok ok ok: yea the magic was a weird thing. It was technically a divine gift from an old forgotten god who Vreina recently had researched and Low-key resurfaced when she published her new findings. But they don’t know about that, and likely never will. It was a wild thing and they were like woah!

Mea’s brother Kamarul… I can give you more details there. I’ll try to keep it short cause this post is already long.

Really tall and lanky. Absolute beanpole and when he was a kid he was top-heavy. They were playing tag with siblings while on a boat for a family trip down the river. Ended up getting knocked overboard by Seil on accident! Fell into the water, got washed up to Baldurs Gate. Could only really remember Candlekeep, but life was tough from there. Since Kamarul couldnt swim, family presumed him dead. Made a grave for him and everything. Go out to it now and again and meditate. Read him stories. Good study place so he’s always included.

However; he was alive! Basically stole bread and books, traded until he found something he could use to get into candlekeep with. Became a scholar on avernus and the nine hells there but lived primarily in Baldur’s gate with this guy he met… and fell in love with. Their story is not a happy one. Kamarul is a fiercely loyal partner and would do anything for who he loves because he doesn’t have anyone left. Nalier is a power-hungry narcissist with a goal to become a devil or demon lord. Nalier exploited and abused Kamarul’s care for him before completely dipping to work for Zariel ( until he could ultimately betray and overthrow her ). Kamarul was alone again for a while until he was called upon by people tryna save elturel ( spoilers for Baldurs gate descent into avernus ). There he met a fire genasi named Peckary Carlisle ( amongst others ) and they start falling in love. Kamarul gets infected with red rot and they have a big heart to heart over life and kiss at the end of it ( gay ). Eventually they run into Nalier. Shenanigans ensue but after Nalier tries to bring Kamarul back to him Kamarul fucking kills him. It’s great. Zariel kidnaps the adventurers families, Kamarul gets reunited with his via saving their lives. They win, and eventually he and peck settle in Baldurs gate. ( Peckary was a traveling bard, Kamarul had a previously abandoned house that he’d lived in for years ). And that’s all you need to know for Kamarul XD
