Papa! *embraces legs* Of course you may, I would be delighted! Do you wish to build a snowman with me? Or play a Mundane game, like you used to when you were my age?

I should warn you though, in all fairness: I was granted three magical wishes not too long ago and I plan on one of them being to bring the snowman alive, so it would be for the better that we build him as kind as possible. I would feel ever so guilty if I was responsible for an evil snowman spreading terror throughout London...

Are you looking forward to getting your Marks?

Oh, why yes I am! I will get to wear a pretty dress, and my entire family will be there for the ceremony and all our friends and it will be so much fun, and then it will be so perfect because then I will be able to go hunt and use all these pretty Runes... Runes are so pretty, don't you think? And such an extraordinary way to improve your skills as a Shadowhunter. Can you imagine that? I wonder how great of a fighter I will be once I'm Marked-- perhaps it will not be fair to others, but I will be very gentle and humble I promise. I am very, very, very excited!

"1898?! You’re serious?" He tried not to sound incredulous for he knew that it would be rude, but he couldn’t help it. If he really was in the 19th century, then that means he traveled almost 200 years in the past. Max swallowed, wondering how that was possible. One minute he was playing video games—and beating his best score— then the next, he was sitting on the ground in what looked like Victorian London. He suddenly remembered the story his mom told him once; about how she and a few others were sent back in time, in London as well. They even got to meet their ancestors and Max thought that was pretty cool. Unfortunately, there would be no meeting of ancestors for him for he didn’t even know his biological parents’ Shadowhunter last names. But maybe he could meet his mom’s. "I.. Wow.. I’m in 19th century London." he said as he looked around once again.

At the mention of the Consul, Max’s gaze drifted from the crowd of people in front of them to the little girl who was holding his hand. “That’s pretty cool. Do you live in Idris, then?” A look of surprise registered on the young boy’s face when his companion bared her teeth, but he chuckled after a second. The little girl was full of enthusiasm, and he was grateful for her for taking him to the Institute. “So you’re half Lycanthrope, then? Can you run really fast? I’m Max, by the way. Max Lightwood. Well, Lewis, but my parents aren’t married so technically, my last name’s Lightwood.”

Rachael furrowed her brows as the strage boy continued to say even strager things. Surely he must have hit his head somewhere. It was all quite awful really, she thought, and she became even more determined to nurse him back to health as it was obviously far worse than she had tho-- oh, a nurse! She could be one of the magical princess with healing abilities from a forest kingdom, but not the bad kind of magic. No, she could only do good magic, like the Silent Brothers and the Iron Sisters and she was a princess, skilled in the arts of battle and healing, the one entire mankind depended upon when disaster struck to heal everyone on the field while fending off and banishing the evil Demons. This poor boy had been knocked into a great old oaktree by a Drevac, and...

Oh right, he had asked her something. "No, I live in London with my father and siblings. My father is a Lycanthrope and he can't reside in Alicante you see, and I have my entire family in London so since I was only a baby my mother has been travelling back and forth." She spoke very matter-of-factly as she lead the boy forward with determination. "Of course I am fast! When I am older, I am going to be the greatest Shadowhunter ever to live, like Genevieve." Rachael spun around, tangling herself and the boy as she was still holding onto his hand when she did so. "Pleasure to meet you, Mr Lightwood! I am Rachael Jillian Penhallow. May I ask why it is that your parents are not wed? How can one have children if one is not married?"

Standing up, Max dusted off his pants then looked around. “What.. year is it?” he inquired as he looked around. How was it possible that he wasn’t in the 21st century anymore? He could understand being sent to some random place, but to another time period? If his mom found out he was gone, she would be worried. He hadn’t asked permission to go out, after all, seeing as he wasn’t really planning on being anywhere else but the New York Institute for the rest of the day. He only hoped that those in the London Institute of whatever era he was currently in would find a way to send him back to where he truly belonged. He also hoped they wouldn’t think he was crazy.

His brows raised in surprise when she noticed his Marks. “How.. How do you know what I am?” He thought maybe perhaps she was a Mundane with the sight or a werewolf. She couldn’t have been a warlock for there were no visible warlock Marks on her. She was rather young, though, and his eyes widened as he watched her jump up and down a bench. “Are you on your own? Wouldn’t it be dangerous for someone as young as you to walk around the city alone?”

"I..." Rachael furrowed her brows in thought, wondering both what year it was as she had never been too good at remembering such things, and at the same time wondering why he would ever ask such a thing. His clothes were strange, as were his questions -- perhaps his mind was no different. "It is 1898, I believe," she said, feeling sorry for the young Shadohunter who must have obviously taken one too many blows to the head. "Don't worry," she said kindly with her gaze fixed on him as if he were a baby she needed to tend to. "I will look after you and make sure you get somewhere safe."

Without further notice she took hold of the taller Shadowhunter's hand, pulling the boy along as she looked back at him with a frown upon her face as she heard him make the remark she had heard so often, and disliked as much each time. "I am perfectly capable of taking care of myself, thankyouverymuch," she chirped as she let go of his hand, jumping from ground to bench and back again as they continued walking through the crowd. "My mama... is the Consul... and my papa... is a wolf... so I'm an excellent fighter," she said as she jumped down and turned to face him with her fingers held out like claws and her teeth bared in an attempt to look intimidating. "And my teeth are sharp!" She giggled at his expression before taking his hand and pulling him along once again. "If I cannot beat them, I will bite them."

Max marveled at his surroundings as he walked. He was definitely not in New York. The Big Ben was the first thing that gave his location away. He was in London. Alright, he’d been in London once before with his mom and dad. He wasn’t particularly knowledgeable about the place, but he knew that there was an Institute somewhere and if he could just find it, he could have them contact his mother and have her fetch him. Though how he ended up in London, he didn’t know. However, it seemed as if he wasn’t in the 21st century anymore either. There were women in gowns, and men in tailcoats and funny looking hats. It was like those BBC shows he would watch whenever there wasn’t anything good on the television. But he wasn’t watching anymore; he was a part of the set. 

He almost jumped out of his skin as soon as someone bumped into him. He shouldn’t have surprised. The sidewalks were filled with people and a couple of times earlier, someone had elbowed him in the face. He turned and found a little girl looking up at him with apologetic eyes. Despite of the strangeness of his situation, he smiled. “It’s fine. I’m fine.” At least, physically, he was. “I’m lost, though. Would you mind telling me where I am?”

A wide smile spread across Rachael's face as she regarded the young boy on the ground, paying close attention to his rather strange apparel. An other thing she couldn't help but notice were the Marks, peeking up through his collar and onto his neck and arms. "Oh! You're a--" She stopped herself, remembering what mother and father always reminded her of. She was not to speak of the Shadowworld, under any circumstances, around her Mundane cousins and their friends, and since they were surrounded by Mundanes, she proceeded in a hushed voice. "You're a Shadowhunter," she whispered, her eyes wide in marvel as she loved, above anything, to relate to other Nephilim. She was one too, after all, even though she bore no Marks and her mother had only let her hold a sword once.

"Oh, of course," Rachael chirped as she moved away from the boy and jumped up onto a bench in order to get a better view of her surroundings before jumping down again and trying to help the boy up. "Somewhere near Fleet Street... I can help you to the Institute if you'd like!" She looked at the boy in expectation, figuring her father wouldn't mind as he probably knew where to come looking for her.

A magical place || Open

Young Rachel had once again left her father's side as they had been walking through the streets of London, running through and disappearing in the crowd as she had once again given in to her own imagination. The street was an enchanted forest of people, and she, a warrior princess. Just like Genevieve Highsmith. Some day, she wanted to be that strong, and fast, and she was certain she would be. She trained with her brother nearly every day, after all.

Without looking ahead, the young Nephilim continued to run -- not noticing the person in the middle of the path until she had already knocked them over. "Oh, please do forgive me, I did not mean to."

Biography

Rachael Jillian Penhallow -- daughter of Jonathan Rochester and Emily Penhallow.

It was during the harsh winter of 1888 Emily and Jonathan were blessed with a second daughter. The little girl had arrived early, and was therefore very small but strong even so. As she grew, her parents came to learn that the little girl -- to whom they gave the name Rachael -- always seemed to be in a hurry wherever she went; trying to run when she could barely walk, trying to keep up with her older siblings, or begging to take on larger musical pieces when she had only just learnt to play scales. Rachael was always very happy and full of energy which she gladly spread from morning to evening as she ran around the manor. Her bright and cheerful attitude always charmed her relatives, and her vivid imagination continued to grow even greater.

One would think the happiest child in the household could not wish for much more. Rachael's only desire as a little girl had, however, been to have her mother present in the home more often. But in spite of the fact that Consul Emily Penhallow was determined to spend her time wisely even though she travelled back and forth often, she spent long periods of time away from her family early on in Rachael's young life. It did not matter that she tried to make up for it later on, for it was already evident that the girl cared much more for her father.

Rachael Jillian is currently nine years of age; younger sister to Jonathan Frederick and Elisabeth Joanna. She is a very gifted musician, and wishes to become more like her sister, Ella, whom she looks very much up to.
