“That’s really difficult as a kid to understand, that one day my family might turn me down and say: “Actually, I don’t want to love you anymore, because of who you are”. As a kid you assume that the people you love will love you unconditionally for the rest of your life. They don’t have to love you as you get older. You have to find the strength to find people who love you enough to fight for it.”
—Tan, Queer Eye, S3E5

Years pass by like ticker tape, some scroll that tells our story, me the headline of wild passion, the flaming arc across a night sky, you the different kind of steady, the rock that holds despite the waters that smash against you.
I was the half that didn’t fit, not here, not where we began, you were the half that shines, the one that is deserved, though we lie to ourselves and call us unworthy.
This is the story that stands out, bold print on the scroll of our lives, you and I and the life we’ve carved out, this is the headline a decade in the making.
Tomorrow, I will wake as I’ve done three thousand some times, and before that brief forgetting fades, I will roll into you, find you sleeping, and breathe once again.

This blue door 😍💙
I love both of my 'mamas' so much! Thank you, mom, for loving me so well. From laughing together over silly Snapchat videos to crying with me when I'm down and everything in between, you've been there for me. ❤ Thank you, Mama Nash, for loving me like your own since the first time your son brought me home to meet you. You made me feel like your daughter even before I became one ❤ (at Léal Vineyards)
Secret sister, you've already out done yourself! I can't wait to try and make these 😍 (at Jacksonville, Florida)
This is my newest book, on persevering through trials and suffering, called Mad About God: No Silver Livings, No Christian Clichés, No Easy Answers for Pain & Suffering.
You’ve heard others spiritualize pain by saying, “God is doing this for you good” or “Everything happens for a reason" or “God has an amazing plan for your life” – but in the middle of the mushroom cloud, even the best theology doesn’t make sense. Sometimes, you just want to be angry with God. We want to shake a fist and shout against the dark. This is a journey through our heartache, where we’ll discover a place to vent and to grieve without formulas.
Here’s a video on the themes of the book. It’s available in both paperback and ebook. Be blessed and love y'all! – J.S.
This book got me through one of the most difficult times in my life. J.S., your words helped me understand that it's okay to be angry, it's okay to grieve. This world is broken and I may never have a resolution to the pain and hurt, but that isn't because God isn't good. To continue to love, during and after the pain, has actually taught me a little bit more about God's great, unfailing love.
Growing up I was the kid that got side aches just walking at the mall. I've always loved sprints because they were short and sweet. Anything over 1 mile I considered "long distance" up until about a year ago. But this past weekend I completed my first 15k in 1:21:57 and I felt great! With the support at every mile from the Jacksonville community and @gordonnash4 I actually wanted to keep running! While I sill love sprints, I'm looking forward to more races in the future. #gateriverrun2017 #Jacksonville #trainingtorunfaster (at EverBank Field)
It hasn't even been 24 hours and I'm missing California already. The beautiful trees, mountains, creeks...it's like a miniature Shire in my eyes. I'm so thankful to call it home ❤ (at Morgan Hill, California)
Wrigley visited @liveloveleal today! He has a mature palette for such a young pup 😉 He loves dark red wine...just like his mama 😋 🐶❤🍷 (at Léal Vineyards)

This is why I began to reorient my life around the only one who made sense to my broken heart: Jesus. He was the only one I knew who embodied it all, who welcomed it all, experienced it all without pretense. He understood my light and my dark, my hope and my despair; He experienced my suffering. He was beauty and He was the way, the truth, and the life. In my despair, I turned to the crucified Lamb of God, the whole Jesus, wild and untamed and countercultural instead of my carefully curated version of Him.

We probably have wondered in our many lonesome moments if there is one corner in this competitive, demanding world where it is safe to be released, to expose ourselves to someone else, and to give unconditionally. It might be very small and hidden. But if this corner exists, it calls for a search through the complexities of our human relationships in order to find it.

Happiest of birthdays to this beautiful lady! She is a ray of sunshine and I'm so incredibly thankful for the love she has shown me since the very first day we met. I'll never forget my first night at Flood College and she was my partner during our ice breaker. It's no surprise to anyone that I can be very shy and quiet, but she made me feel welcomed and loved ❤ I love you @lizzielouhoo You are a true blessing in my life! 📸: @myonelove (at Léal Vineyards)
