The Return! I’m back after several years of absence - and I’m back with my very own OTTB!
Meet Shannkiyr
Born in 2016, Shannkiyr was bred by the Aga Khan. He is by Elusive Quality and out of Shankardeh (by Azamour). He hails from the same direct female line as champions Zarkava, Shergar, Oh So Sharp, Mumtaz Mahal, Risen Star and many more (9c).
Trained in France, he began his racing career in 2018 and retired on the French National Day last year, 14 July 2024. He also had the distinction of being the final mount of French star jockey Gérald Mossé. Over the course of his career, he won 5 races from 24 starts.
He is now enjoying plenty of carrots. And I'm happy to be back on my blog.
Shandana (by Sea The Moon), out of Shannkiyr's half-sister Shanndara (by Mizzen Mast), is an exciting filly to watch. She kicked off her racing career with 2 victories from 3 starts in 2024.

Multiple Grade I winner A Raving Beauty (Mastercraftsman) foaled a filly by Justify in Japan. The filly was bred by Oiwake Farm.
Bred in Germany, gray A Raving Beauty rolled to victory in the 2018 Grade I Just A Game Stakes and Grade I First Lady Stakes. That same year she finished a strong third in the Grade I Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf behind Eclipse Award winner Sistercharlie and Wild Illusion. A Raving Beauty sold for $2 million at the 2018 Fasig-Tipton November Sale.

Stakes winner Rhythm In Shoes (Rhythm) foaled the first filly by multiple Grade I-winning millionaire Hoppertunity. Rhythm In Shoes is the dam of seven winners from eight to race.
A winner of eight graded stakes races, Hoppertunity won the Grade I Clark Handicap as a three-year-old over older males and the Grade I Jockey Club Gold Cup at five. He was a graded stakes winner every year he ran, and only finished worse than fourth twice in his 39 race career. Hoppertunity is the richest stallion to retire to the Mid-Atlantic region.
