Bovidae (Antelopes, Cattle, and Goat-Antelopes)
*technically this is the tribe Bovini, there are some other bovines that are more antelope-like but they get their own post. this group is still colloquially referred to as bovines
*not every single recognized species and subspecies is represented because some i could find zero information on, let alone pictures. not doing breeds of domesticated species either because i’ll be dead before i finish that
*common names are taken from the IUCN red list if applicable and iNaturalist (and very rarely wikipedia)

There really was no other feeling than having a rubber kickball kicked clean back into your face as a kid.
Zippy Chippy, horse racing’s most loveable loser, has died.
Yet more sad news to report as the legendary Zippy Chippy has passed away after a long life well lived.

f. - Honor A.P. x Joanie’s Catch (by First Tour)
Initially, Honor A.P. grew popular as a racehorse for three main reasons: his dam, his trainer, and his nearly-black coat with chrome points. His regard was further justified when he won the Grade I Santa Anita Derby, defeating eventual American Horse of the Year Authentic.
On January 27, 2022, his first foal was born.
The filly is out of the mare Joanie’s Catch (by First Tour), who won two stakes while placing in six graded stakes. Joanie’s Catch was sold in-foal to Honor A.P. at the Keeneland January Mixed Sale for the meager price of $9,500. She was purchased by Coteau Grove Farms in Louisiana.
It is likely that Joanie’s Catch will be bred to Grade 1 winner No Parole in 2022, based on the partnership name Coteau Grove purchased her under.
Honor A.P.’s dam is Hollywood Story (by Wild Rush) who won the Grade I Starlet Stakes and Grade II Bayakoa while racing. She has also produced stakes winner Miss Hollywood (by Malibu Moon), graded stakes-placed Hollywood Star (by Malibu Moon), and stakes-placed Hoorayforhollywood (by Storm Cat), along with three other winners.
Honor A.P. currently stands at Lane’s End Farm in Kentucky. His half-brother Hoorayforhollywood currently stands at Milky Way Farm in California.

Hello Mortimer.
2022. f. - Bodexpress x Fracci (by After Market)
Sire Bodexpress first made headlines when losing his jockey at the gate of the 2019 Preakness Stakes, but later become a Grade I winner and set a track record for a mile at Gulfstream Park. He entered stud at Barton Thoroughbreds in California in 2021.
Dam Fracci, who is unraced, is from the family of Millenary (by Rainbow Quest), who won the 2000 G1 Irish St. Leger among other graded races.
The filly is one of the first for her sire.
