A broad grin broke across Shelby’s face at her aunt’s cheering. The encouragement only spurred Shelby to do better. She was the type of person that thrived under praise, and she easily hit the ball back to her aunt. “The crowd goes wild for the Wheelers!”

Striking back, she calls out from across the court. “YES, baby! Let’s get a rally goin’!” A bright, toothy smile appears upon Amelia’s features along with a single laugh as she returns into stance, racket twirling once.

Shelby could only groan as she took after the ball again. In her idealist, rose-tinted brain, she had thought playing tennis with her aunt would be a fun experience. She’d get to see the strongest woman she knew in her element. But after an hour, Shelby’s knees were bruised and she was covered in sweat. “You are not going easy at all and you know it,” she all but whined. Her fingers curled around the ball and she nodded her head. She had seen her aunt do this a million times – she could manage to hit the ball over the damn net. Taking a deep breath, she narrowed her eyes in focus as she hit the ball. It passed the net —- only just barely. Still enough for the artist to feel some pride. “Coming for you, auntie!”

“There we go!” Amelia cheers after sprinting for the ball, for a quick return over the net-- though she uses the least amount of power as she possibly can. This wasn’t Wimbledon. Chuckling as she shifts back and forth on her feet, she twirls her racket as she does.

“Americans, so rude. No please, no thank you,” He smirks and reaches over for the chilling bottle, popping the cork, which has been just sort of shoved back into the bottle, with his hands, and topping off her glass. “Why the long face, my friend?”

“Don’tchu’ come at me with that american shit now, Olin.” She snickers briefly. “Once her glass is topped off, she sighs softly, her gaze wandering to his. “THANK you.” A beat. “I’m-- just tired, baby. With all the mess we still got left to clear up from the tournament this year, I been micromanagin’ like hell.” Taking a gulp of white wine, she hums. “Don’t even get me started on how we gotta’ get to pullin’ everything together for next year’s US Open as soon as damn possible.” A huff. “Why on God’s green earth did I volunteer for this shit?” She chuckles.

“Yes.” Daniela asked back flatly, “McDonald’s line is too long right now.” She nodded down the corner, folding her rms over her chest. “What if I say please?” 

“See, that’s whatchu’ SHOULDA’ said in the first place.” Giving the young woman a stare for a moment, Amelia finally rolls her eyes and digs into her gucci bag to retrieve her wallet. “Hmph...”

“WHAT! I’m goin’ as easy as I can on you, baby girl!” Amelia cackles from the other side of the court, twirling her racket. “C’mon, sugar-- lemme’ see a good  serve. We already at thirty-luv!” She enjoyed time with her niece-- maybe a little too much. But with no children of her own, she’d always spoiled her siblings’ offspring. Each and every one. “Let’s rally this time, ‘aight?” Pointing at her with the racket, she backs up to get into stance.

Olin smirks and then shakes his head. “No, darling, of course not,” He chuckles. “I mean I would be the one cooking,” He says, turning his gaze to Amelia with a nod. “Not as if I would let people run amuck in my kitchen. So rude,” He teases. “I’m just trying to help the people.”

Taking a sip of her white wine, Amelia rolls her eyes, brow raised. “If you wanna’ help people, you can pour me another glass.” She says dryly, holding out her emptied wine glass.

“That ain’t true... is it?” Amelia smiles softly, though she’s clearly suspicious about Olin’a little comment on culinary school. “Mmhm-- well-- I think it’s a good way to get this place dirtier than ever. Is THAT what you wanna’ accomplish, or did I miss somethin’?” She stifles a few laughs.
