gayfabe — a portmaneau of "gay" and "kayfabe"; when one's identity is gay but pretending to be straight. when one's gay identity cannot be separated from the act of pretending to be and/or ""believing"" oneself to be straight. one may believe themself to be straight (while knowing they're gay), know themself to be gay but pretending to be straight, or any number of things that fit the definition. their identity cannot be separated from the act of obfuscating it it. be it for 'kin reasons, system role reasons, the bit, et cetera.
