“Where did you last have it? Maybe I can help you look for it.”

               “ Thank you very much. I’ve been looking for at least an hour. ” Flynn smiled lightly at her before pointing towards the square. “ I last remember having it when I paused for lunch in there. ”

               “ I can’t believe it. That’s the third time this week I’ve lost my bag. ”

Rin was sitting at the bench staring at the pool solemnly.  He wanted so badly to dive in and swim but with his injury on the works of recovery he really couldn’t risk it getting hurt more. “Huh? You were talking to me? Oh.. yeah.. I guess it is hot today” he says.

 He sighs. Being here was making him miss being in the water. But he didn’t have the heart to leave. Not yet at least. “Just wish I could go in the water” he says as he again casts a sad glance to the pool. He didn’t know why he was saying all this or even talking to the male but he really was a bit out of it. He truly did miss being able to swim in the water. He might be able to just float and tread in the water but that wouldn’t satisfy him. He wanted to move his arms and legs and swim liked he used to. Unfortunately though until he is fully recovered he isn’t able to do that. 

Rin sighs once more. “This is getting depressing. I think I’m going to go” he says before he starts getting up from the bench.

               Flynn was silent for a moment, watching the boy. He seemed so upset, even before he said something. If only the blond had noticed sooner, he could have possibly helped rather than possibly upsetting the other more. Generally Flynn didn’t like to press into personal matters and when someone indicated they were finished talking, he’d peacefully let them be on their way. However, today, something tugged at him. The way the other was longingly looking at the water, his simple comment and abrupt departure was only too familiar. Perhaps not with swimming, but it was the same look of defeat he’d seen on some of the injured officers that could no longer remain on the force, leaving their dream of serving the people behind. 

               Perhaps it tugged a little too close to home, reminding him of the look of defeat he himself had for awhile when his first leading officer was killed protecting them all. Whatever it was, something urged Flynn to stop the boy, to not allow him to leave just yet. Immediately, Flynn stood up, smiling down at the other. “ I may just be some stranger from Newstark town, but I can tell there’s a lot going on. ” He began, eyes gazing over to the water. “ I won’t push too much, and you’re of course welcome to leave, however I’ve seen too many of my fellow officers with that look to let someone else remain so defeated. ” The blond glanced back at Rin, knowing there’s nothing to stop him from just leaving. 

               “ I’m Flynn. Like I said, i’m a Police Officer over from Newstark Town. If you’d be alright with it, i’d like to just talk. If you can’t swim, we can at least put our feet in, right? ” His attention was completely on Rin, face soft and warm. “ Talking can be quite good for the health. ”
