UPDATE

I have edited, exported, and uploaded the final cuts for this class and screenings to a Google drive folder so that my professor can access the cuts and view them. Once I have a 100% go-ahead from my professor, I will upload the final film to the SOFATube website so I can be ready for screenings.

UPDATE 

11/21/21

I have edited all versions of the final cut of this film. I now have three different exports, two with burned in captions, 1 without captions. 

In this edit, I took out some images because it slowed down the story progression and it ate up time. The actual photos are left up on the instagram account. 

I added some ambient music I really liked that I found on YouTube Audio Library and I thought fit with the overall theme of the film and it plays quietly in the background. 

I fixed some other things, such as timing of the photos and replaced some of the poetry book photos with other shorter poems. 

I added the explanation of the film to end, right after the title screen. I purposefully left the explanation vague. 

I currently don’t have a lot of time in between today’s class (11/23) and next week’s class (11/30) because I will be going home for Thanksgiving and I do not have access to Adobe Premiere Pro at home. I will have a small amount of time to do any small edits or re-exports before screenings if need be. 

I believe if I had to, I could submit to screenings this week because I am happy with my export and it hits all the audio specs required. 

I plan on submitting my film early enough that I can print the receipt and be one of the first in line for choosing screening times at FVASA.

UPDATE 

A 3rd version of the rough draft of the film has been edited, and this week I plan on adding the final clip to the edit. I also plan on editing in closed captions and preparing the film for screenings. I have also started the official posting on the instagram account, following the schedule I had laid out in a previous post.

UPDATE 

This is the final posting schedule I have developed for the course of the story being posted onto the Instagram account. 

After practicing with the app Later, designed to post to your accounts without you having to remember to post, I have decided that I will not be using Later. The app needs you to approve of posts and notifies you to approve posting something, which does not fit my needs for this project. I would rather post by myself without an external app reminding me to do so. I have designed the posting schedule to fit around my classes and work schedule, and I will commit to staying up all night on Friday evening and Saturday morning.

UPDATE 

I have finished making the rough cut of this project, and I received overall positive feedback for it!!

Things I have done:

1. Made the official instagram account for the project. I have made it private for now but when I promote the account it will be come public. 

2. Made a final posting schedule with a date. The dates the account will be live/posting are Monday November 15th - Saturday  November 20th. 

3. Made a promotional flyer for the film. I am currently in the process of trying to get it approved for posting around campus by next week. If I cannot get the flyers approved, I will share the flyer digitally on my personal social media platforms and I will ask Mary Barnard to share it with the SOFA community. I will also ask the class and my friends to share the digital flyer with their own communities so I can get a following beyond SOFA. 

This Saturday I am going back into the editing labs to reimport the “Insta Story” PNG so that it has the accurate username and rework the titles and add sound effects.

I started editing my rough draft of the final screenings for this project. I am using Adobe Premiere Pro 2021, and I am hoping to add an element of texting between the two main characters.

MID PRODUCTION CHECK IN 

These photos are screenshots from my hard drive organizing all of the content/photos/videos/memes that will be posted on to the Instagram account. As stated in my previous update, there are still some shots that need to get done. 

When content is labeled with a decimal (Ex. 2.0, 2.1, 2.2) that means those posts will be made using the gallery feature on Instagram, so it is one “post” with multiple photos in it.

UPDATE 

- Shot the rest of the posts with Tassia and Maranda

- Got a lot of good content

- Organized all of the posts onto my hard drive

Still need: 

- Photo of house for house party 

- Argument clip between CJ & her mom (still need to email Knight’s mom)

- Photo of a sunrise at a park 

I am considering adding in a few screenshots of texts between CJ and Bella to post on the stories so the audience can follow along with the story in another way, that could add to the build up and tension at the climax of the story. 

As of right now, I have the “principal” shooting done and I just need to wrap up loose ends and start working on the technical aspect of editing and posting.

- Shot post 6, 10, 15, 19, 20, and 25 with Maranda

- Organized the photos and videos in the Google drive folder to be numbered in order of how they are being posted

- Filming the rest of the content with Maranda and Tassia on Sunday 10/17

- Need to email Knight’s mom to see if she could help out with a portion of the project, need to record the the voice of CJ’s mother to have a conversation with CJ

UPDATE

Here I have posted the shooting schedule for this upcoming weekend’s shoot with Maranda (CJ) and Tassia (Bella). As noted in the document, I will be shooting all of the content that CJ is in alone with Maranda on Friday 10/15. The rest of the content that requires both CJ and Bella in it will be filmed either 10/16 or 10/17, depending on Tassia’s availability. This is obviously not all of the content that will be posted to the account, only the photos and videos that require an actor’s presence. The rest of the content (memes or other images) will be taken care of by myself. 

I will also note: Maranda will be using my cellphone when taking selfies/mirror videos because I have it that she will use an iPhone, and Maranda owns an Android.
