A little Aliens western get up I made.
Printed velvet moto jacket with bound button holes and loop button closure on cuff.
I made this moto jacket using the Gunnar Deatherage Midnight Moto Jacket pattern. Made for by best friends wife. She found the fabric on spoonflower. She liked this jacket pattern but wanted it to be a center front button up and more “grandma” looking.
I decided to go with a bound button hole closure on the front. Those were a bit of a pain since this printed velvet is kings of thick and the button holes were fairly small. And I hand stitched them with a slip stitch so there wouldn’t be any visible stitches.
I deleted all of the zippers and went with welt pockets on the side front and omitted the putter chest pockets.I also decided to replace the zipper cuff with a looped button closure. I used some sunflower shank buttons I had sitting around in a drawer for the past few years.
Decided to quilt the shoulders to give it a little contrast without having to choose a contrast fabric. I also shortened the collar a good bit since it didn’t have lapel from the asymmetrical zip anymore.
The lining is a polyester satin fabric from Joann’s.
I don’t normally like the printed velvet from spoonflower because the white that it’s printed on shows through in the seams and it bugs me especially for how expensive it is, but with this color it really played well into giving it that vintage look.
It was a super fun project. I always like when people ask me to make something that is outside of my normal style. It’s fun thinking outside of my own noodle when designing things. Like a writing prompt but for fashion design.
My latest sewing project! I have been working in n this jumpsuit for way too long. It really only took me a few days but I kept having to put it aside for other projects! So thrilled it’s finally done!
I made this fabulous pastel punk funky outfit with some pink denim and minky and mint green leather. It is probably my favorite thing I have made.
Diego Brando jacket I made a couple years ago.
This was a fun jacket to make. Started out with a natural 12oz bull denim that I bath dyed turquoise and then sprayed with a deep purple dye to give it a little more depth. The appliqué was done with various color denim and a satin stitch outline. All of the shading was done free motion embroidery.
Added a little Borden Milk patch my son found at the flea market and some pink spikes and rhinestones on the shoulders. I also put some turquoise chainette fringe on the sleeves.
One of my favorite things I have made. Sadly it was lost in a house fire last year.
Finally got to work with some iridescent fabric and make this hissing cat jacket. The appliqué on the back is made with black holographic vinyl, pink minky in the ears, glow in the dark vinyl for the eyes, and the mouth was free motion embroidery on maroon denim.
The jacket is made with an iridescent polyester, and metallic yarn jacquard and backed with a navy blue denim. The seams were finished with a bias binding I made from some quilt cotton and the topstitching was done in a blue and purple variegated tex80 thread
I made this honeycomb denim jacket with dripping honey and bee appliqué. The denim is a 12oz indigo that was acid tie dyed and then dyed over with a gold dye. I designed the appliqué to be an asymmetrical honeycomb pattern so it would be more natural and unique looking. It was a lot of work but also a lot of fun putting this piece together.
It is a size Large(42”-44” chest) available in my Etsy shop. Link below if anyone is interested.
