Guys, I have a weakness I’m going to reveal here: the truth is, I LOVE seeing Bernard as a "damsel in distress" for Tim, Kon, or both.

I have to admit I’m a little embarrassed by it, because generally, I feel like that trope can end up ruining narratives and characters—but in this case, I let myself indulge in it XD

Kon meets Bernard outside a club while Bernard is fresh out of high school and deep in the cult, when Bernard is smoking a joint. Bernard is skinny, with purple bags under his eyes and baggy clothes covering him from neck to wrist to toe yet still revealing far too much.

Kon approaches him, pulls out a carton of cigarettes he uses exclusively as an in with people, and asks for a light. Bernard stares for a moment, then a mask falls over his face. He smiles, hand shaking as he lifts his fingers to tilt Kon's chin, pressing the lit end of his joint to Kon's cigarette, and breathing out.

Brain stalling, it takes Kon a few seconds to inhale and actually light the cigarette, and he almost regrets it as Bernard pulls away. They talk, until Kon's cigarette has burned itself out and Bernard can't smoke anymore, when Kon insists on taking him home.

Ribs are prominent under his hands, and Kon can feel himself wrapping around the boisterous but fragile boy in his arms. He has half a mind to take him back to Smallville instead, let Ma fatten him up and Pa remind him what a family is supposed to feel like

I like the hc that Bernard quotes pop culture references or memes. Like imagine instead of saying:

He literally screams "GO PISS GIRL." at the top of his lungs. And Tim would genuinely either be confused half of the time, or just stare. Maybe embarrassed.
