Low quality photo of a high quality mare. 🦄🤩 We had opted to take a step back from over fences work with River after we realized she likes to jump. Instead we focused on refreshing her flat work and building strength and stamina. Now that she’s stronger, she rides steadier to the base, her jump is smooth as silk, and she’s so close to being ready for flying lead changes. I’m so lucky to be able to work with and learn from her. Radway Eventing Show Series - February 5: Took River and Regis. Showed River in 2022 Starter (71.6%) and we tried Training 1 for the first time (71.92%) which was good enough for two blue ribbons. She was brilliant. I need to make sure I get to shows a little bit earlier to get a little for more warmup time for River. She needs time to warm up and see the showgrounds and settle in. I know this, but flubbed my timeline a little bit so we only got about 20 minutes when I think she needs about 30-45 minutes to walk around, see everything, and then go to work. Regis joined us to do the jumpers 2’11” and was first in the Table II.2(b) with a clean round and clean, fast jump-off, and we had a single rail (my fault—turns out when you stop riding your horse, your horse jumps like you stopped riding 🤪) in the Table II.1 for 2nd place. I love jumping Regis. He’s just fun. He really jumped so well—wish I had videos. I’m thinking we should have tried the 3’3”. 😉😎 Then I decided to grab River off the trailer and put her into another flat class (unjudged) since her quarter sometimes runs out, she got to go back to work, and she really rose to the occasion and was great. 🤌🏻 I am so lucky to have such amazing horses to ride and show.
