It’s Boota!
I just had to make this amigurumi version of everyone’s favorite pig-mole after watching Gurren Lagann. Who the hell do you think I am?!

this is so cool! It’s a quilted set of images (the full quilt is on the site) of a gryphon in motion by Nina Paley. But the coolest part (to me) is that she and her partner used Mathematica to compute the stitch outline as one continuous line so that her embroidery machine could handle it properly.
She also has other neat quilts, including a Fibonacci Spiral quilt and an arabesque quilt that I like even if it isn’t mathematical :)
Last year, people came up with some pretty great #ScienceValentines - let’s keep that rolling! How would you express your love for that special scientist in your life? Tweet @nprscience or message me, and I’ll collect the best ones.
(Bonus points if you can somehow incorporate landing on a comet)

Space Buttons - Five Second Project for GSG (by Raedia Albinson)
Personal project made for Greyscalegorilla’s Five Second Projects - the theme was “Buttons”. greyscalegorilla.com/blog/five-second-projects/buttons/ I decided to keep it (mostly) 2D since I only had 4 days after I heard about the new theme! But it gave me a chance to try out Frenden’s awesome Photoshop brush tools for the art: frenden.com/post/39394983582/custom-photoshop-inking-and-pencilling-brushes
