An old timer gamer's page who loves painting miniatures way too much. I've painted just about every period & genre of miniatures over the years & have more paint than sense. Here you will find reblogs of painted miniatures that have impressed me as well as my own poorer work. There may well be the odd reblogs of items that make me smile too.

I'm also still working on my Fan Hunter Urban Warfare miniatures. Here we have three more heroes of the resistance. All very basically painted with Foundry paints. 29 more to go & with a Walrus Trekkie being the next up! Then some bad guys will be along.

Finally got round to finishing off my Dark Eldar Succubus to lead my gangs of Commorragh troops into battle. Might need to buy a Venom next so she can keep up with the rest. Paints were the same as my previous Dark Eldar.

First row of buildings completed for Gangs of Rome. Three more sets of buildings to go. These were spray painted with a cheapish(GBP6.99) spray can from the Montana range (Gold NC-Acrylic professional spray paint). The colour was called 'marble' strangely enough. The dark red walls were coat d'arms red brown, brushed on. The roof tiles were foundry Brick red (59A & 59B) again brushed on.

Another recent addition of mine is the Gangs of Rome: Blood on The Aventine Starter Set. This comes with 2 gangs, 1 annoyed pleb & a MDF Temple that's under construction. The Temple is a great showcase of what MDF terrain can achieve. The figures I must admit are not going to win any awards but chunky detail make painting a doddle. Currently putting more of Ancient Rome together in MDF so expect more posts on this.

The Strontium Dog starter set also comes with a set of MDF buildings & accessories for you to construct. Quick and easy to build & fast to paint as mostly grey/metallic spray painted and Nuln oil washed.

Here we have Max Bubba and his gang of mutant bad guys. These all come with the starter set and are used in the 3 main scenarios that come with the game. These were rather speed painted so not my best work, just wanted them done quickly to try out the game.

Been very lax lately in updating my Tumblr so going to try and get back on track. Been working & even finished a few projects since I last posted. First up here is the Good Guys from the Warlord games recent Strontium Dog starter set. Lots of good detail on the models so quite easy to paint. Used mostly Foundry paints on these, Bright Green, Forest Green & Orange being the main Ones used. Will put up the Max Bubba Gang next.

I picked up a miniatures game called Fan Hunter Urban Warfare back in June, just because I loved the look of the miniatures (must stop doing that!) Only painted a few so far and keeping it simple, no real shading. Just 32 more to go....

I acquired the Ariadna starter a number of years ago and have only just started painting them. I think I’m actually reducing my figure mountain for a change! Very easy paint job, just various shades of Foundry Phlegm Green. Infinity minis do paint up well. Four more of these to go.

Finished up my two Nolzurs Marvellous Miniatures Wizards.

They are plastic and a cross between GW & Bones type material. They come primed but you have to remove quite a bit of it to clean up the mould lines. So I had to re-prime them in the end.

Their detail is soft in places but no way as bad as some of my bones. Both were quite fun to paint & came out quite well.

Picked up a couple of packs of the new D&D Nolzurs Marvellous Miniatures from Wizkids. Curious to see how they paint. A review on them to follow.

Gangs of Commorragh game played under Red Light.

Managed to finish up 6 riders for the flying surfboards at long last. Probably not my best paint jobs but acceptable.

Colours were a base of black, then heavily dry brushed with Mephiston Red. Flesh is reaper Dark Elf. Metal mostly good old leadbelcher with Stormhost silver highlights @ Nuln oil wash.

All metal services were satin varnished after the general Matt varnish protective coat had dried.

Have 4 more riders to paint but next up will be a Dwarven Blood Bowl team most likely.

Tintin & Snowy here in a recent 7TV game. They were helping the A-Team taking on some Daleks. Snowy of course was the hero of the hour getting the info from the crashed space ship. The terrain as you’ve guessed is adapted Lego pieces created by my opponent.

Managed to get sidetracked whilst painting up my Dark Eldar. Here you have Biggles, Algy, Bertie & Ginger ready for adventure. Mostly painted with the Vallejo wood & leather paint set. Dark Eldar painting will resume soon but a Belgian chap & his dog will be along first I'm afraid :-)

Completed the first 5 flying surfboard 'Helions'. Next 5 just being started then onto the riders. Colour scheme made using a faint covering of Mephiston Red over a black primer. Then washed with Carroburg Crimson & highlighted with Evil Sunz Scarlet. All Citadel paints.
