think it's a deep consolation to know that spiders dream, that monkeys tease predators, that dolphins have accents, that lions can be scared silly by a lone mongoose, that otters hold hands, and ants bury their dead. that there isn't their life and our life. nor your life and my life. that it's just one teetering and endless thread and all of us, all of us, are entangled w it as deep as entanglement goes. v neat i think.
I have the privilege of having access to the Atlantic Ocean, which has such a strong essence of Njordr. Not only historically but just like...vibe. It is always cold, even in the warmest months. It is dark, and rough, and filled with so many old things. It can be harsh to swim in, harsh to be on a boat in. But it is so pretty, and giving, and it has this very greenish-gray color to it when the sun shines on it just right. When I think of Njordr in the modern sense, I picture him much like the New England fishermen I live around. Intimidating in a way, but masters of their craft, and leaning towards tradition in a subtle way. Cold, misty towns. coastal towns Early mornings on the dock. Well kept boats. Cold, clay-like sand that molds to your feet as you walk on the shoreline. The feeling of salt in your nose. High tides that crash against the manmade barriers, and low tides that allow for the people to retreat into the cool water on a hot day. Tide pools filled with children looking for treasure. Birds overhead. The feeling of fish swimming around your ankles. It's an encompassing sort of peace in the face of ancient chaos.
One last gandr at the Jörmungandr bangle I carved 🤪
Sorry sorry
A bold first thing to carve. I had no idea what I was doing, still don’t. But I think he’s cute :) Have fun at your new home buddy x
Reblog if you genuinely support asexuals
It terrifies me that there’s so much raging passion in the lgbt+ community that insist on marginalizing asexuals and implying that asexuals don’t deserve to have safe spaces. There’s still so much acephobia so I just wanna know which blogs are genuinely supportive and a safe space for asexuals

An illustration by Donn P. Crane from Journeys Through Bookland (1922).
This depicts a scene from Norse mythology where the dwarf Brokkr presented great treasures he and his brother, Sindri, had made for the Aesir: the golden boar Gullinbursti for Frey; the gold ring Draupnir for Odin; and the mighty hammer Mjolnir for Thor.
Loki is the type of deity that, at first, he will be really playful and fun. But the more you get to know him, the more serious he gets.
Loki back in 2024: lol you broke your ankle. Nerd.
Loki now: I purposefully removed that person because it was hurting you. Stop crying. Get up. You’re a warrior.
Me: am I gonna recover from tuberculosis 😢😢

What'cha yall think Sleipnirs intelligence level is?
Cause he's viewed like, and treated as a pet, and one of his parents was an animal, but the other parent was a god
So is Sleipnir like, horse level intelligence? Person level intelligence? Something in between?
Cause like, he's got half brothers that are animals that have what we'd consider "higher intelligence". I mean, fuck, Fenrir can talk and he's a wolf
Which brings me to another thing,
Jormungandr
He is the full blooded brother of Hel and Fenrir. Hel and Fenrir have been shown to be able to talk and reason and act like people, so it only makes sense Jormungandr could do the same but he's treated and depicted more as an animal (yes he's a snake but you know what i mean)
I hear analysis that Loki betrayed the gods in the mythology stories but i read it as sometimes what happens when you build a community and don’t watch out for everyone.
In all myths where Loki betrays the gods. Loki is first kidnapped and tortured into an oath. He keeps his word on forced oath and in return help fix the problem he caused.
The gods failed Loki because he went missing, no one noticed or rescued Loki before he’s forced into an agreement. Loki is left to be tortured. They were quick to get their apples and hammers however. Cared more about golden hair than a person in their group.
I do wonder if Loki snapping at the gods is result of someone who while in a community was not treated as equal, was not cared for, often abandoned to violence. The rebellion that happens when someone is not treated as equals.
Yes, it's exactly that
Loki causes problems a lot, sure, but let's be so honest, what gods don't? Not just in Norse mythology but across the globe. Loki being mischievous isn't a good enough justification for his mistreatment
He's almost always the scapegoat and is made to fix not only the problems he caused, but problems he had nothing to do with also. Everyone is happy to Reap the rewards and gifts Loki brings in, but don't really care what expense he went to to make it happen.
Rarely is there ever a group discussion on how to deal with issues, it's just "Loki, fix it" and then if Loki makes a mistake, he's immediately threatened with no one else taking the blame
And let's not even get into what was done to his kids- and I don't just mean the big 3
Did he really betray them? Or was he betrayed first and just had enough?
I say we bring all out memes to the afterlife btw
All of them
From the early 2000s to now
I say we bring them with us and confuse and concern the ancients
What happens if the psychopomp of your choosing comes to get your soul as you're dying and you just say no?
What happens if you just refuse to die and refuse to leave your physical body?
"Alright, it's your time"
"Nah"
What then?
