“She wanted to be alone, but not lonely. That was very different; that was something that ached and hurt dreadfully right inside one.”

I wish you could see
the mess that I am
I wish you could feel this aching
heavy hole in my chest
But would it even matter
Would you even care
I pretend it doesn't bother me but it's tearing me apart.
i need a hug rn more than anything

“I didn’t need you to fix me. I needed you to love me while I fix myself.”

ever.
Until you heal the wounds of your past, you are going to bleed. You can bandage the bleeding with food, with alcohol, with drugs, with work, with cigarettes, with sex; But eventually, it will all ooze through and stain your life. You must find the strength to open the wounds, Stick your hands inside, pull out the core of the pain that is holding you in your past, the memories and make peace with them.

completely untested theory but
i think social media not only has eroded ideas of privacy (”if you have nothing to hide why do you care?”), but in a much more harmful way it promotes the notion that there should be no difference between public thoughts and private behaviour. But this is totally bogus because people behave differently according to different situations, and this isn’t being “fake”, it’s just what navigating social situations in a proficient manner is like.
The way I behave with my friends and my family, the way I behave in private, is not for public consumption. Nor should it be. Publicness is a matter of choice, it shouldn’t be mandatory. People are not entitled to anyone’s private thoughts on anything. People have a right to decide what they wish to show in public and what they wish to hide.
MENTAL HEALTH DIALOGUE IDEAS
Today (October 10th) is World Mental Health Day so here are some things that a character can say to another character who is struggling with mental illness:
“you can talk to me about anything”
“I don’t understand but I believe you”
“I’ll stay with you as long as you need me to”
“take a deep breath”
“do you want me to give you advice or do you just want me to listen?”
“you don’t have to go through this alone”
“I’ll check on you again tomorrow”
“you’re not broken”
“let’s take a five minute break”
“I love you no matter what your brain tells you”
“I’m always here if you need anything”
“please don’t talk that way about yourself”
“let me know if you ever need a ride to therapy”
“don’t forget to take your medication”
“it’s okay to ask for help”
“I’ll go with you for moral support”
“I don’t know how to help you but I can help you find someone who does”
“do you want to talk about it or would you like a distraction?”
“you’re safe”
“there is always hope”
(NOTE: Please be respectful and considerate when including mental illnesses in your writing. If you or anyone you know is struggling with mental illness, don’t be afraid to ask for help.)
