Just like my other Tiana cosplay I made this last minute so there are things I would like to change. I need to secure the petals on the bodice since I skipped out on the boning and I need to make an underskirt so I can wear my ballgown hoop skirt underneath for maximum VOLUME!

Even though I will forever be salty that Tiana was a frog for most of the movie (I see that microaggression Disney) I still love her ♥

There will be a protest today for this young woman who was wrongfully killed by Toronto Police and they have been tryna cover it up as a suicide. They may have silenced her, but they won’t silence us. So If you’re in Toronto or the GTA, come out and support! Social distancing rules will apply of course for everyone’s safety. I made this Supergirl cosplay from Simplicity pattern 8185 for a photography and modeling panel. I love Supergirl the TV series and have had that version of her on my cosplay list but I wanted something for the panel that I could show more of a variety of poses (power,cute,glam) for plus I needed something I could make fast so this commercial pattern for the bombshell version of Supergirl worked out perfectly.

“ I was initially drawn to #Eitaso because of the color palette of her design. Eitaso is the nickname of Eimi Naruse who is part of the idol group #Dempagumi inc which did a crossover with the game #PhantomoftheKill. Each member got turned into a character in the game. I really like all of the member’s designs but Eitaso personality most reflected mine plus her outfit had that magical girl vibe to it so I went with her.

  The process was very tedious which involve lots of pattern making, mock ups, mess ups, and some injuries. I think the hardest part was trying to figure out how to get certain parts to defy gravity and to not lose my patience with all the petals on the skirt.

I knew people at #momocon wouldn’t know who I was but they were really excited when they saw me. I was pleasantly surprised at how many people wanted to take my picture even though they didn’t know who I was. A lot of people thought I was from #SailorMoon or #CardcaptorSakura, though.”

they’re really racist and they have NO amount of respect for their customers. i’m going to do this piece by piece so it’ll be easier for me to make the post. the main problem: the racism against african americans okay, so recently they have released a new wig called the “Jezebel” and it shows CoCo from RanPaul’s Drag Race drinking watermelon arizona and holding watermelons. now, for those of you who don’t understand why this would be considered racist: this picture is enforcing the negative stereotype towards black americans where we eat nothing but and have a love of watermelon, fried chicken, corn bread, kool-aid, waffles, and grape drinks. which, again is a offensive and racist stereotype towards african americans. another thing is the name of the wig, which is “Jezebel”. Jezebel is a counter image of the mid-nineteeth century Victorian lady.

“Jezebel was the counter image of the mid- nineteenth century ideal of the Victorian lady. The idea that Black women were more sexually promiscuous and available evolved when Europeans first encountered women in Africa. Unaccustomed to the requirements of a tropical climate, Europeans mistook semi-nudity for lewdness. Similarly, they misinterpreted African cultural traditions, so that polygamy was attributed to the African’s uncontrolled lust, tribal dances was construed as orgy. African religions were labeled as pagan, and therefore inferior to Christianity, which had replaced paganism in Europe. If Black slave women could be portrayed as having sexual appetites, then increased fertility should be the expected outcome. With this mindset and stereotype, Black women have been labeled as sexually promiscuous and immoral.This image also gave the impression that Black women could not be rape victims because they always desired sex, thereby justifying countless acts of sexual assault of black female slaves by white males. Ironically, Jezebel’s excessive sexual appetite masculinizes her because she desires sex just as a man does. White slave owners not only used the Jezebel image as a justification for their forced procreation among slaves, they used this image as a legal defense when raping African American women. In fact, James Redpath, an abolitionist no less, wrote that slave women were “gratified by the advances of Saxons.” (This was not true at all, as many African American women were threatened into sexual relationships with whites for fear of being “sold, beaten, raped, and having [their] ‘husband’ or children sold.”) Even after acquiring freedom, African American women still suffered from sexual assault and rape throughout Reconstruction up into present times. During and after Reconstruction “Black women […] had little legal recourse when raped by White men, and many Black women were reluctant to report their sexual victimization by Black men for fear that the Black men would be lynched.”” (source: Wikipedia)

GLW took down the stock picture of the wig, probably thinking it’s going to be “damage control”, but it surely doesn’t solve anything. (it’s even still in the thumbnail) continuing with the act of racism they’ve done, they’ve also made a separate site for black women called Dollite, separating black models from the actual site itself. it was literally the SAME WIGS but only on black american models.

"After searching for a wig this morning in a specific color, i came across a new site run by Gothic lolita wigs with the intention of having black women as the sales target. They use the same wigs but only black models on this new site, which is sad to me because there is an obvious separation from what they feel is "doll like” and have said on multiple occasions that dark skin models on their main site are lightened to look more doll like.“….

another thing, which was stated above, is that they’ve managed to make the skin tones of the models lighter so they can look more “dolly”.

"…. I interned for them summer of 2014 to see for myself if they were as bad as rumored and I was horrified. In the same day I was told ” Its ok to lighten darker skinned models because thats what sells” I was also asked ” how do we get into the black hair businesses, because thats where the money is”. As well as “Lolitas are just catty bitches, should we even focus on them?” when lolitas were the ones who made them relevant. I would like to ask if we as a community could stop buying from them, and refer each other to other wig sites. I have so many experiences with this company that are negative that I could share with you, but I just ask that even if they do promise “e fame” and all these other silly perks that hold no real meaning , that we not buy from them. “

additional information:

GLW also misgendered on of my familiars frequently on Instagram (OP commentary: their pronouns are he/him, but they kept using she/her pronouns even though they had stated countless times to use he/him.)

in recent events, John Leigh of Anime Matsuri had announced that they’re not going to have GLW come to their convention this year and sponsor their events because of the act of racism.

they’ve apologize countless times, but in each “”apology”” they had, they managed to mention that black girls can’t pull off the dolly look. not only that, but the apologizes were copy and pasted many times

their wigs have gained terrible quality and bad reviews. their wigs tangle easily and the quality is low and overpriced. you’re better off ordering from sites like Lockshop or even eBay

they’ve stolen wig designs and ideas from MintyMix, another wig supplier. 

in a recent apology post made, they tried to call people who said the post was racist and offensive….well, racists. their little support army decided to do the same as well (OP commentary: that doesn’t even make any god damn fucking sense like???? why would even try to pull that shit and try to make yourself the victim of this situation and then have your little army come to defend you literally fuck you GLW) 

according to some, GLW has also tried to make their models pay for photoshoots for the wigs.

I finished the construction of the dress and jacket. I have to make buttons for the jacket and I’m not sure how I’m going to do the sprinkles on the dress. I also did a test paint on my legs because I really don’t want to dye then paint tights for this.

I really love your work. It's so encouraging to see black girl magic in cosplay! I'm considering doing a Skelita sugar skull makeup for Halloween and I don't know what brand of makeup to buy. I'm a lighter skinned Latina. Any suggestions?

I hardly get on here so I am just not reading this :( For body paint I like Diamond FX and Tag for line work; and FAB  and Ruby Red for all over base color. I’m going to try to be on here more often so feel free to ask any more questions.
