Local SEO Tips
Local SEO is a growing industry thanks to Google's algorithm changes. But It's a beneficial change to many small businesses by lowering the competition levels of ranking. Although, unless you understand SEO principles it is still difficult for many small businesses to achieve high rankings on search engines. So...we put together a small list of local SEO do's for small business owners.
DO Set up Google, Bing and Yahoo Local Accounts
After building a website, it's incredibly important to set up accounts with Google, Bing and Yahoo Local. These listings frequently show up on the first page of Google and can be a great venue for driving traffic to your website. These are free listings that probably take 30 minutes each to set up but are well worth the time and effort.
DO Get Links from Local Citations
Local citations are a great way of improving the ranking of your Google, Bing and Yahoo Local listings. Citations are basically websites that give your company a listing that includes your website address, phone number, and business address. Some examples of citation websites include Yelp, Manta, Yellow Pages.com and many more. The more quality citations you have, the better chances you have of your local listings showing up on Google.
DO Get Quality Links From Other Sites
This includes submitting guest blogs to other websites and making connections with other companies in your industry. If these partners link to your website from theirs, you can rise on the search engine rankings.
This is just an example of a few techniques on one area of local seo. However, many business owners do not have time to incorporate these techniques and that is why they look for local seo services. Many firms offer local seo services but not many of them can provide the rankings the client is looking for. Make sure any firm you work with is at least incorporating the above mentioned techniques to some degree.
