Hindi ko alam bakit ako inggitera??? I saw my teammate sa office wearing “crocs” and I immediately got jealous. Although for a while now iniisip ko talagang bumili ng shoes na magagamit ko anytime na maulan or bumabagyo. My original plan was to buy some waterproof shoes from “merrel” that I can also use for hiking. Naiinis kasi ako each time na mag hike tapos kapag umulan mababasa yung paa ko. I hate that feeling na my feet is all wet and muddy. Eh kaso ayun nga nakita ko yung crocs ng katrabaho ko. Ilang linggo ko talaga sya tinitignan online to the point na naisip ko nalang to settle for the OEM Crocs. Kaso when I was reading the entries from r/crocs sa reddit I decided to just get the original ones.

At heto nga!!! Budol talaga tong mga credit cards sa mga promo nila. Naka buy now pay later tapos installment for 6 months with zero interest. Yung isang Crocs lang sana bibilin ko naging dalawa! Tapos nakisabay na rin ang SO ko kasi gusto nya rin ng Crocs.

When I got home tinry ko maglakad lakad around the house na suot si Crocs to test its comfort, and boy oh boy super light nya unlike the fake ones! Bibili rin sana ako ng Jibbitz sa Crocs store kaso nag check muna ako sa Shopee if may mura ba. Turns out yung 245 per pc sa store 9 pesos lang sa shopee. Di ko sure if may difference ba sa quality but halleeer for estetik lang naman sya aarte pa ba ako?

Anyways I’m just happy with my purchase! Feeling ko I will steer clear from wearing traditional snickers muna para makahinga hinga rin yung paa ko. I’m trying to lose weight pa naman so yung 45 mins break ko sa work naglalakad lakad talaga ako. Perfect tong nabili ko na shoenelas.

LAKE HOLON JUNE 2022

The best part of my Mindanao Trip is being able to experience the gorgeous scenery of Lake Holon (Mount Parker). I’m so thankful for having a partner (wifey) who knows how to plan and organize a trip. It’s also my first time to go camping and be with nature overnight.

I was going through some pictures on my Google Drive from my Singapore trip and I saw this “Kaya Toast”. Naalala ko lang kasi first time ko makatikim ng ganito kahit nalaman ko eventually na meron namang ganito sa Pinas (Nanyang Restaurant in particular). Sarap na sarap ako kasi it’s on the sweeter side tapos when you dip it don sa super lusaw na egg na may light soy sauce sumasabog yung lasa sa bibig ko.

AMEBIASIS (AMOEBIASIS)

So ayun nga after so many years ng pag iwas ma-ospital “Amebiasis” lang pala ang makakapag pa repeat sakin. Thank God my cousin came in just in time para isugod ako sa hospital kasi my mother cannot lift me anymore. Just a few more minutes and I will pass out na talaga due to dehydration. I didn’t realize na hindi nalang pala sya normal na LBM until naramdaman ko na parang sinusuntok yung tyan ko sa sakit and my stool isn’t just loose anymore, it’s wi-wi like na. Naalala ko rin kung bakit ayaw na ayaw kong magpupunta sa hospital. It’s super hassle. Imagine pagdatin namin, instead of offering me a wheelchair kasi I couldn’t walk na, they just asked me to sit along with the other patients na nagpunta lang don para magpacheck up. No sense of urgency. I mean what’s the point of going through the emergency entrance if di ka naman aasikasuhin agad? Anyways, before this turns into a rant post dahil kahit sa doctor na nag tingin sakin imbyerna ako, I will appreciate nalang how people around me respond during my emerency situation. Super thankful ako sa aking mother who called for help dahil nakita nya na hindi ko na kaya. Thankful rin ako sa father ko na tinry akong alalayan kahit alam kong di naman na sya tulad ng dati na malakas ang pangagatawan. Last and most important, yung pinsan ko na umakay talaga sakin papunta ng ospital at kasama ko sa CR while I am unloading all my sh*t. Salamat at hindi sya maarte and madidiriin. So far I’m good na but still taking my antibiotics kasi sabi nila once na you had Amebiasis, konting very wrong ka lang makain eh pwede syang matrigger ulit.

PASTIL SA MINDANAO

My girlfriend is from Mindanao and she always told me to try their famous pastil. I first tasted pastil when we went to Asik Asik falls but at the time, I didn't like it very much because it was quite bland and only had a few "toppings" on it. My uyab (girlfriend) didn’t like it as well but swear to me that there are people who sell pastil that taste really good.

Last night I had the chance to try “pastil” again when we went to Kabacan. This time I get the “double” order. It’s twice the rice and twice the toppings. I like how the toppings is on the sweeter side and just had the right amount of salt in it. Since it’s wrapped in banana leaves, you can taste or smell the banana along with the rice. I now understand why “pastil” is very famous especially for students. For the price of 10 pesos (20 for double order) you already have a delicious complete meal. May kanin ka na may ulam ka pa!

Why didn’t we have this in school in Metro Manila? Or maybe we have? I just didn’t know about it. Imagine how much parents and students can save if this is offered around the schools in MM.

Overall, it’s something that I want to remember and share kasi ang dami kong narealize habang kumakain ng pastil.

Last night we decided to go to Kidapawan City kasi yung partner ko decided to buy an Air Conditioner dahil yung furbaby namin is nagkakasugat (hotspots) due to hot weather. After namin makuha yung AC at mag grocery naghanap kami ng restaurant na bukas pa. We went to “Nikko’s Brew” and in all fairness the food is good. It’s a cafe that both serves coffee and meals. At dahil maulan nag order ako ng walang kamatayang “Cappucino” because, why not?

For me sa kape talaga lahat nagkakatalo yung mga nagsusulputang cafe dito sa Pinas. I definitely support SMEs and I make it to a point to look for the best coffee in town. Iba pa rin talaga kapag quality yung beans na ginagamit. Yung unang sip mo palang ng coffee parang sinaniban ka ng holy spirit. Ganoong level yung coffee shop na babalik balikan ko.

Anyways I’m just saying this kasi sobrang nasarapan ako sa coffee ng Nikko’s Brew. I like the Cinnamon power and how frothy my coffee was. Their pasta Aglio Olio is good and so is the Sansrival Cake.

Hopefully makabalik. Upon writing this gusto ko ulit magkape.

Buhay Probinsya

“Sa wakas! Nakalanghap rin ng hanging probinsya!”

Madalas na litanya ng mga taga Metro Manila na nakapag bakasyon ng saglit sa probinsya. Grabe iba talaga yung pakiramdam na gumising ka sa umaga tapos ang maririnig mo mga ibon at tunog ng mga dahon sa puno na nagsasayaw dahil sa malamig na hangin. Tapos magkakape ka na ang natatanaw mo ay bukirin. Wala kaming probinsya na pwede naming mauwian every so often dahil ang mga magulang ko ay ipinanganak at lumaki sa Metro Manila. Mabuti nalang na yung partner ko is originally from Mindanao although na meet ko sya sa Singapore. She decided to go home sa Philippines and to stay here for good. LDR pa rin naman ang peg naming mag jowa dahil sya nag stay dito sa Mindanao and ako sa Metro Manila pa rin. Okay lang naman. I think we are old and mature enough to know how to make LDR work. Marami kaming plans for the future but for now flying back and forth (Luz and Min) is our work around.

Totoo nga siguro na as you mature, you will appreciate “calm and peace” over “money and career”. Mapalad ako na nararanasan ko yung mga ganitong “short break” from dog-eat-dog life sa Metro Manila. Nag-iba na rin yung perspective ko sa buhay. Yung dating “gusto ko magkaroon ng maganda career sa work, ma-promote or maging boss”, ngayon mas gusto ko ng after work ang iisipin ko nalang ay kung ano bang uulamin or kakainin ko later.

Anyways I’m just grateful to be living the life I’m living right now.

OVERNIGHT OATS STORY

These past few days I've been making this overnight oats and boy oh boy it is scrumptious. Since I reached the age of 25 I've been struggling to maintain my ideal weight. The heaviest I've been was 68kg. My height is 5 feet 1 inches and my suppose ideal weight is 54kg. Way back 2015 I was able to reach that target but I don't really look good physically. I look like someone who has been terribly ill so I decided to gain some weight.

Fast forward, my decision to gain a little weight didn't go as plan. I lost track of what I eat and the era of "milk tea" has started. Plus the pandemic happened and the lockdown forced people to stay in their homes causing lack of activity. Another whammy is my gf loves to cook. She has a knack of copying recipes just by tasting the food. So whenever I crave for something like "empanda" or "leche flan", she can make it for me in an instant. That's when I reached my heaviest weight.

November 2021 I decided to do something about it. Although my motivation level kept on fluctuating, I finally commited to it. This time I know I badly needed to lose weight because I don't feel good about myself anymore.

The journey's been tough. My discipline is always tested. But thank god from 68 kg I am now at 59kg. I ran, I lift weights, and I watch my calories. I also see the difference when I lose weight way back 2015. This time I don't look sick.

Now what's the relevance of my overnight oats to my weigh loss journey? Well, it's the thought that you always have a healthier choice with food.

ALL TIME FAVORITE

Ewan pero the best pa rin talaga ang Fried Chicken at Spaghetti ng Jollibee. My mother always brought me to Jollibee everytime na pupunta kami sa Pasig to visit my lola. Every bite brings me back to my childhood. Siguro even at my death bed eto yung request kong food before I die.
