On this day, 08/06/1990, Darkthrone played live at Tobakken in Esbjerg (Denmark). This is a photo of Ted (Nocturno Culto) by Kennie Bendixen Deigaard that night, taken from the book "Incombustible remains". Scan by me.
Some words by Lars Bangsholt and Dag Nilsen about that night, in a recent interview from the same book:
- Lars Bangsholt: I remember a funny detail from that night. They stayed at Jacob's, and two of them with me. Someone from Darkthrone (they were not as old as us) had to call home and ask if it was ok to drink beer. I remember that, it was funny, but also very innocent and fine, really. They were fuckin' good guys.
- Dag Nilsen: It could easily be me. I was educated in this way: you can do whatever you want, you just have to say where you are, and stuff like that. Or maybe it was Ted, too. He had very strict parents. I was 17 years old when we played the concert. I don't think we drank so much. At that time, Gylve was abstemious. As I recall, he was abstemious until his twenties, that was the style. And I never drank before a concert, because I was so busy, so nerdy with my instrument that I could feel like I was not in top form if I just drank one beer. -

Aaah
Let's take a moment to appreciate how great NRK made this documentary. They caught almost every arfist's emotions in their eyes through the camera.
This is supporting them FOR REAL. Huge respect...
