Yo, I'm raka. I'm an artist who adores the scene subculture, anime/cartoons, and the old internet. been a while since I did an intro, and I don't particularly enjoy my current one. so, i thought i'd fix that!

Be warned that I will be posting possibly suggestive/sensitive content, but it will be nowhere near graphic.

So, I'm raka. I've lurked around the internet for a little while now--since I was about five. Restricted internet access? No such thing. I only really started participating in online communities when i was about 10, on quotev and amino (rip, it was a shitshow but i had a good time for the most part). These days I'm not exactly the social butterfly I was, because for some reason interacting with ANYONEEE seems super intimidating :'] But i'm doing my best lol

I love drawing. I always have!! I've been drawing since i was about five or six. it's always been an escape for me during REALLY rough times--it made me happy to draw my favorite characters, and create my own! I love interacting with fandom spaces too, finding folks who are into the same stuff i am. Connecting with strangers is fun, when you don't really know anybody irl who shares your EXACT interests.

I wanna make/reblog fandom art on here, and maybe make moots/friends. i also have OCs i love and adore that i'd like to share--with lore, of course.

Hello friends, I am Yasmin from northern Gaza Strip. I am 27 years old, a mother of two children, Sila and Youssef, and I have been married for more than 7 years.

I was studying Journalism and Media at the University College, and I had both a home and a job. But because of the war, I lost my home, my work, and everything I owned.

My family’s house was also destroyed, and now we have nothing left except a worn-out tent whose torn walls cannot protect us from the heat of summer or the cold of winter.

My husband is injured. He was involved in a traffic accident while trying to get aid, and he is now disabled and unable to work.

My children have suffered from malnutrition due to the lack of food and proper nutrition.

That is why I am only asking for your help and support. I am here trying to save what is left of my children’s lives. They are between life and death.

Crowning an heir

rant below the cut (yapping about my thoughts lmao)

couldn’t stop thinking about Gozaboru’s signature suit being the color red. Soemthing about the visual of his suit dripping blood from those he had helped kill, allowing him to own this very suit in the first place.

Seto meanwhile used to wear white, something that is not only often associated with innocence but also nothingness, a blank slate of sorts. White fabric stains easily and this would easily adopt the red dripping from gozaboru’s suit (as well as being hard to wash out and most likely staying forever, even if only faintly).

The jacket itself is too big to fit little Seto, not only because it’s a position unbefitting for a child to be put into, but also because their ideals fundamentally do not align. Still, the jacket is being held in place on the left side of the image by another hand, only staying on Seto’s body to due an outside force. Naturally, as seen on the right, it slips off his shoulders. Also noteworthy is that Seto stands perfectly still, passive in this action and having the jacket forced upon him against his will.

Additionally, Seto is presented in a greenish hue (haha s0 reference), not only to contrast Gozaboru’s red, but also because it makes him appear sickly and distant. His facial expression is supposed to match that of his appearances in the actual series, despite him still being younger in this. He may still be a child, but mentally has already transformed a lot through Gozaboru- faster than he actually grows up physically.

Lastly, I also thought of this at Seto kind of looking at himself through a mirror or something (thus the front facing view and look forward), seeing how he’s being transformed to fit the role of a kaiba heir yet powerless to do something against it (at least the whole mental part yk since that’s a big part of his character later on, esp w battle city semi finale against yugi where he struggles to break free from what gozaboru has taught him).

Let's take a moment to appreciate just how amazing the title cards were for Batman the Animated Series.

Oh! I actually know what made these look so iconic!

The backgrounds for the entire series were done on black paper, a first for any animated show. It's Batman, which means everything is at night and incredibly dark. So, the majority of the backgrounds were going to be black anyways and using black paper would cut down on the time it took to create all of the backgrounds. Adding color over the black paper instead of the traditional method gave it a much more stylized look that helped make it iconic.

It also forced some other creative choices, such as using an airbrush to do all of the background art. During the early testing, they found that using an airbrush was easier to apply paint with than a paintbrush and that it looked better. Airbrushing let them be more experimental with painting techniques, such as the spattery fades you can see in the "Bane" and "Deep Freeze" title cards above or the soft, deeply shadowed face on "the Last Laugh." The overall effect of airbrushing on a black background is a much darker, moodier vibe than could be achieved with a traditional approach.

They cared very deeply about the art of the show and how they were going to create it. It wasn't just about the story or the character. In the words of co-creator Eric Radomski: "As opposed to making shows just to sell toys, we've made quality films."
