I've not expressed enough how hype I am for this comic, and for the story it tells. This feels to me like it's the first big story to be told by the Sonic comics, and that's something special I figure.
So much history behind this franchise, and so much of it represented or hidden away here, in these comics. Stories notorious and beloved, if all a bit unknown to a wider world.
For a franchise that I hold onto by its characters, here are countless characters that I'm not yet intimate with. I want to learn what's led people to fight over Sally VS Amy as Sonic's love interest, the surprisingly old origins of Nicole, the evolution of Bunny Rabbot and the encounters I know she later has with her own family, and characters like that "Shard" Metal Sonic guy I have yet to know truly anything about. To see the past works of Ian Flynn and what might be called the positive influences of Ken Penders, and the works of dozens of artists over decades- some great, some ridiculous, and some who will grow.
Sonic had a small place in my life when I was young, but SA2 and Riders Zero Gravity both stuck with me fiercely, and although I hardly understood them and couldn't follow along with what was current and what was old, the random sporadic comics I read in the final years of this series stood out to me, and I'm sure have had some influence on how I feel about Sonic today. They're certainly a big part of why I want to get through these comics, start to finish, and finally understand what's hidden underneath here.
I'm rambling. That's why I have this blog, to share the my silly little comments on things as I work my way through these comics. I'm excited, and happy to begin this journey.
EDIT: here is the guide I'm using to determine the reading order for these comics. To find my thoughts on a specific comic/issue, search "[comic name] [issue number]," e.g. "Sonic the Hedgehog 1" or "Princess Sally Miniseries 3." Exclude the number if there's only a single issue, e.g. "Sonic the hedgehog in your face"
