Hi! What is your process for coloring and shading! Every time i see your art im so impressed and enamored!

for color, ......i dont know.....

i like to mess a lot with it, i tend to color first base colors of a character, then start pondering on the vibe i want for the drawing (i.e: a warm & comforting vibe? a cold and uncomfortable atmosphere?) and i grab a base color of such (if i pick the warm & comforting, i go for pinks, warm greens, oranges, etc.), then try to match the base colors with the palette chosen! this MAY change mid drawing, because i play with colors a lot, so i could change my mind mid way LOL

as for shading / rendering, i do it by sections! once i have the colors chosen, i shade per color one by one, like this!

but sometimes i get experimental and start coloring OVER the sketch alone, skipping lineart, like i made on this one :3

honestly it depends on my motivation and if i feel like experimenting!

hi! tbh i've never been good with giving advice because most of times i just free style it , i'm not gonna lie, but here's a few things that helped me that i have learned from others thru the years and implemented on my art!

just note these are related to my own artstyle and some might not work for everyone as styles and techniques are different, but feel free to have fun either way...!

dont be afraid to experiment with a lot of colors? if anything feel free to play with filters or anything your drawing program allows! (if using traditional, do so too!)

line art is my enemy so i've learned to stop caring and do it messily as either way i can always fix it once im rendering / shading such sections. dont let it control you!

this is a personal thing but its nice to use complimentary colors as deep shading instead of the same palette for a nice contrast and a varied palette (i.e: red outfit, so i render / shade it with dark green)

never nothing wrong on taking inspiration of the media you enjoy, its normal!

for bigger pieces when you dont have time, i usually like to do a incredibly sketchy and 'bad' looking "mockup" of what i want in the end so i can replicate it with more time and precision later on here's a "mockup" i made for Faust's anniversary illustration (it was at 4 am dont judge)

honestly by biggest ever suggestion is to always try pieces with complimentary colors or colors that 'pop-up' agaisnt the rest of the piece. you'll see how nice they look together

either way ik youre learning so take your time, take it easy and dont pressure yourself. never compare yourself to others ever!!!! youre you and whatever you make will be uniquely yours and thats always awesome
