Urgent vs important companies, who makes them?
Some companies can't differentiate between activities that are urgent and activities that are important. They often end up being an urgent company, but they never go on to become an important company. It sure feels good to make something perfect. 90% perfect to 100% perfect. Nobody likes to leave things incomplete when they are 'almost-there'. For companies, unlike running races, there is often is no clear finish line. So being 'almost-there' is just the equivalent of almost done. Great companies stop here and shift their focus on things that are at 30% done, to get them to 50% percent done. If 30% to 50% progress on Task 1 can be accomplished in the same time span as bringing Task 2 from 90% perfect to 100% perfect, companies with sensible managers and leaders often choose wisely. Yes, it's a personal choice. The results of which affect the company and customers.
