So we just released a pretty big update to our website. I’m sure no one noticed, since we’ve been doing incremental updates here and there for a while, but here are a few cool things to take note of:
1. Our main news feed! So our feed used to be pretty static, but now it’s “dynamic”... That’s really just a fancy way of saying it now automatically connects to some of our social media networks and dynamically fetches the latest and greatest to generate our feed. In doing that we can also separate our feed in a few different categories. Like for example...
2. Music! So this has been in the works for a while and now it finally happened! Our very own Seb, who composes all the awesome 8-bit music for our channel (and does music in general) has his very own Soundcloud account and now we have tapped into Soundcloud and added his music directly into our news feed on the website. Whenever he posts music, you’ll hear about it! Currently he has 4 new tracks that we use in our videos and podcast uploaded for your listening pleasure. They should already be near the top of the feed, since he just posted them, but in case you absolutely hate looking down or scrolling just a smidgen, we have added another brand new feature...
3. Feed filter! So to navigate things a bit easier, we’ve added a filter for the feed. Currently, there’s 4 categories to filter on: Podcast episodes, Youtube trailer videos, Blog posts (like this one!), and finally Music! We are planning to add even more types of content (categories) in the future so stay tuned for that!
4. And finally, We now support affiliates! This basically means we can link to other cool websites whom we’re friends with to help cross-promote our channels. Right now we’re only promoting our buddies over at Spielunkers, but we’re hoping to make more friends soon... Of course, we are nerds, so it might take some time for us to make friends...
Some of these new features haven’t gotten any rigorous testing, so there might be a bug or two somewhere. If you happen to spot one, let us know!
Aside from those cool things, we have also added features incrementally over the past few months, so there have been new features that just popped up without any kind of announcement, primarily our Instagram images are visible directly on the website. This feature might change (or disappear) later in the future, since Instagram are implementing a much more complicated way of using their service, so when the current system bites the dust so will the feature. No worries though, we’ll just find another way.
And that’s it for this time, but stay tuned for more True Believers!
