Sadie and The Avalor Prince

âDrugs. I come with drugs!â Gideon ran into the room, having barely missed his tall, dark and handsome friend, âWell, I found a doctor who will give you drugs.â He moved out of the way as a nurse and a doctor walked in to examine the girl. Gideon rocked uncomfortably back and forth before shifting closer to Rapunzel and squeezing her hand. âYouâll have all the drugs soon enough.â
âIt looks like youâre not dilated enough. The epidural will have to wait.â The doctor announced before quickly moving to leave the room as there was a prince about to be born. Gideon winced, preparing for his blonde counterpart to squeeze his hand with all her might. âSheâll get her drugs though, right?â He asked, mostly towards a petite mousy nurse who had stayed behind to fill out some charts.Â
âSheâll get her drugs. I promise.â The nurse smiled before hurrying off out the door, leaving the two alone. âDrugs are coming, baby is coming⌠Oh my god. Baby is actually coming.â Gideon broke into a sweat, trying to stay calm for the sake of Rapunzel. âDo you want me to call Genie?â He asked, disregarding the time difference and his ill opinion of the nuisance of a man. âI can tell him whatâs going on and that youâre doing alrightâminus the lack of drugs of course.â
Rapunzel perked up at the sight of Gideon, not just because she knew he came with the promise of painkillers, but because she genuinely longed for her partner. So the fact that he was by her side and holding her hand helped cushion the blow of hearing it was too soon for her to receive an epidural.Â
The blonde drew in a long, deep breath â even as she grimaced from the pain â to keep herself from overreacting. As soon as the nurse left, though, she gripped Gideonâs hand tightly, her fluctuating emotions getting the best of her. âI cannot believe this is the way I am having this baby.â She spoke through gritted teeth, her cheeks flushing red as beads of sweat formed on her own forehead. âThis baby is coming and nobody can pay me any mind because Elena is in labor!â
Oh, and was Elena in labor. Naveen rushed into her private suite just as the doctor had finished examining her, sending a small shudder down his spine. He had no clue how women endured this kind of pain, poking, and prodding. But he kept a (semi-) calm smile plastered on his face as he approached her bed and offered her his hand to squeeze. âSo, howâs it going in here? Have you gotten the epidural yet?â
âThe anesthesiologist is on his way now.â The doctor responded for her, her tone curt. âHeâll have to act fast, though, as sheâs dilating pretty quickly â especially for a first-time mother.â
Naveen tried to keep his excited expression as the doctorâs words sunk in. âWow, look at that! Babyâs coming faster than weâd expected, huh?â He laughed awkwardly, rubbing at the back of his neck with his free hand. âAny chance I can get some of those drugs, too, or are they exclusive to the people blowing humans out of their bodies?â
