The Art of Getting the Girl
Jack turned around and looked after her and chuckled “whatever!” he turned to his friends as they excited
She rolled her eyes, but smiled in satisfaction as she heard the group of male voices fade with the opening and closing of the entrance door.
“Thank god…” Rapunzel mumbled under her breath.
Raising up from her seat, she gave her work another look. Yet, this time she felt a little concerned. It wasn’t the actual comment that the guy made that got to her. It just reminded her that there may be others in the future that won’t really grasp her vision. What if she doesn’t get far as an aspiring artist because of it?
But she shook her head at the thought.
“It’s not for everyone…”
Rapunzel looked at her watch and noticed it was almost closing time. So she began to approach visitors to give them a notice while she looked around for anything that needed to be cleaned up.
Outside, jack waited with his friends til the last bus back on campus would arrive. He himself would ride his notorbike everywhere while his friends took the bus, and he never minded waiting with them.
As the last remaining visitors left out the door, Rapunzel was about done with sweeping across the floor. She was moving along the front window display that held a couple of the top featured paintings. Hopefully…if things go well…she could have one of her pieces of art on display someday soon.
But that all depended on the owner of the gallery and what piece they believe is inviting for the public to witness.
Her thoughts faded as she looked above the featured paintings she was dusting. The same obnoxious group of guys were still around. She wasn’t sure why, but hoped that they will vanish by the time she locks up the gallery.
And that was when the eyes of that one particular guy that she was the least fond of…caught her glance.
Rapunzel’s eyebrows furrowed immediately as she quickly looked away and proceeded to finish up her closing shop duties.
Then the bus came, just about when the gallery would close, jack got a call so he walked over to the door and sat down on the stairs.
She felt accomplished as she let out a content sigh. Rapunzel stored the broom and duster away in the utility closet with a skip to her step. Then she closed the curtains at the front window and picked up her things on the way to the door. After leaving only the emergency lights on and activating the security program, she turned the knob of the entrance door. She was reaching for the keys in her pocket to lock up when…
“Oh…” The blonde was surprised to find someone sitting on the bottom steps before her.
Jack looked up and smiled “Hey! you are the girl from the museum… you live on campus dont you?” he asked softly, displaying a complete diferent attitude now that his friends were gone
Was this really the same guy?
She thought for she was surprised by his suddenly polite tone. So she took a moment to fully process his question. This resulted with her face holding a perplexed look while his attention towards her patiently waited.
“Um-uh…yyyyes… Well I guess…If I lived nearby campus then that would count…”
Rapunzel found her way around him as she spoke in order to begin her stroll on the sidewalk.
jack smiled and jumped up, walking with her “um.. do you usually walk home? its terrible late, how about i give you a lift?” he smiled as it was getting darker as they spoke.
“No thanks!” Rapunzel replied with pride as she continued to walk her way home. “My place is not too far, but enough distance for a nice stroll.”
Of course, it was absolutely terrifying when she first started living on her own. Yet, through time she grew a certain fondness in exploring the world she lived in. And with that, walking wherever she went, became her favorite and most preferred form of transportation.
