Her eyes fluttered open, blinking away her sleepiness. "It's dark," she muttered under her breath.
The thin slip of his yellow eyes slid to her, "Not quite."
Rin tipped her head upwards, "Oh- So pretty!"
Her chirp had her pushing her hair out of her face, "Ugh, this humidity." Her curled hair seemed to have fluffed itself after drying, "I'm going to shave my head."
"No, Mama," Shippo grumbled sleepily, "I like your...your hairs pretty mama."
Rin softly tested the bounce of her curls, "Lord Sesshomaru, isn't her hair so pretty! Look!"
His hand, which had been idle on her arm this entire time, flexed as if to remind her, he was still there. He nodded affirmatively, "Yes, Rin." She continued to chirp about the volume of her obsidian locks, him nodding every so often to her.
She felt a shiver run the length of her spine. She could feel the vibration of his voice. Hell, she could feel the warmth from his skin on hers. She turned, peeking at him as heat flooded her face. His own hair was like water falling down the side of a mountain, softly winding and bending to his frame.
His yellow eyes reflected mirth, "Something troubling you, miko?"
Her eyes widened a moment. He was laughing at her! Her face snapped away, embarrassed by his gaze. His sharp claws drawing soft circles on her arm, "No. Nothing," she stammered out. She felt like her heart was trying to escape her ribs.
He smiled to himself, such an easy fluster.
He'd have to keep stoking these small embers.
