just heard my roommate yell ‘you USED me!!!’ from the living room n im sitting here like ??? 2 seconds later my rat comes running into my room holding a french fry in his lil baby mouth

Anyone know where I can get a savic Royal in the uk for less than £200? 😓😬 been looking on gum tree etc but no luck on the second hand front.

I technically have the money but at the same time part of that money is my vet fund.

Also would you recommend a savic royal or a savic royal xl? I’m looking to get 6 boys in total, anything more than that I think would be too much.

I had 7 boys in my standard SRS and it was easily big enough. You don't need an XL, they won't make use of the extra space. Especially grown up lazy boys.

I got mine from zooplus for under 200, they had a 10% off coupon code for signing up for the newsletter or something also.

Plus zooplus give money off if you complain. I legit was missing a screw (Savic gave me a bunch for free when I contacted them) but you could be cheeky about it.

So I'm not getting more rats for now...

I thought Science would outlive Bill so I'd already asked in my Fugly Rats Facebook group about my options for a lone rat. So If Science seems depressed on his own I'm going to borrow a female rat and have Science neutered. He can then live out the rest of his life with a girlfriend. When he passes away I'll give the lady rat back and this will probably turn into an aggregate blog for ratties.

Bill just passed away in my lap. We'd been to the vet today for more anti-biotics but he was feeling colder than he should when I got back from the gym and I knew it was the end :( So I just let him chill on my lap. Wouldn't have made it to the emergency vet in time to have him PTS, but it seemed like he went out peacefully.

When you think your rat is going to die from a tumour...

Then it explodes pus everywhere... Oh it was an abscess. Relived but also gross. Science was so well behaved. I don't think many rats would tolerate being pinned on their back with their head held back while I poked them in an open neck wound with a q-tip. Wound all cleaned out now and flushed out with hibiscrub. I've put him on bayrtril I had left over to help avoid infection as well.

Science has a lump now to, similar place to Ted, not operable in that area just far too many blood vessels :( Why do all my babies have to start dying at the same time :(

Bill is chilling in my t-shirt on the sofa now but I have no idea how he got down here from where he was sleeping on top of the cage...

I was playing with Ted on my bed earlier and I fell asleep.

Woke up an hour later first thinking “Shit Ieft a rat out!” And secondly “don’t move incase you roll onto him”

Turned out instead of escaping he had a nap as well. Lifted up the blanket and he was under there pancaked and resting his head on my calf, just looks at me like “Hello human”

Ted got a whole piece of sushi to eat today.

Usually I would not feed a rat something like this as the fish in it almost certainly contains soy but Ted will have to be PTS soon so I might as well spoil him.

My boy Maths suddenly and unexpectedly deteriorated neurologically over the weekend and had to be PTS today :( Here he is at the vet, he couldn't stand and it was like holding fluffy putty :( Below is an older picture.
