"It’s not vanity," he huffed. "I’ve always been active. It’s more about health than anything else." Not to mention that he had rarely worn suits until he had gotten his first teaching job.

Following him in, Ignis set the tree down with a soft grunt. “You’re welcome. Just warn me next time you feel the need to destroy school property.”

"Well, congratulations. You're a healthy boy."

He gave Ignis a curt nod at his comment. "Next time I destroy school property, I'll leave a note on your door."

He grumbled. “I do, actually. I run every morning and keep a set of free weights at home that I use in the evenings. I’m not in quite as good a shape as I used to be, but I refuse to ah… let myself go, as is the phrase.”

Honestly, like he’d let himself get fat. It was bad enough that he lost some of his old muscle mass, but there wasn’t really a way re-gain his shoulders.

"Really? It's hard to imagine you in anything but a suit." Kross chuckled. "Well, I suppose that bit of vanity suits you."

"We're here." Kross opened the door to his workshop with one hand and then pulled the log aside, setting it down on the floor for the time being. "I can handle this from here... thank you, Ignis." He gave him a nod.

That’s probably a good idea. *hums and scratches at his chin*

And I was thinking it would be a good alternative to boffer bows and arrows. I’ve seen those things almost take someone’s eye out, and I want to keep everyone safe.

*Huffs a little* Well, my version of Orcs is more like Tolkien’s Uruk-Hai. A blend of traditional Goblins and Orcs that’s strong and cunning, but still rotten to the core. … I think we have about 5 or six members. I can scale things back until membership increases.

*laughs softly* Take out an eye, hmm? I suppose that would be a problem. Very well. Beanbags it is.

Ah. *raises an eyebrow* Well, that does change things a bit. Perhaps we could start with more narrow scenarios, which take place in areas with fewer classes... Yes. That would probably be good. Means we don't need as many materials for costuming, either. When do you think you can have a simple storyline ready, just so we can introduce it to our group and see how they take it?

I just want us to have room to grow, and it’s always seemed to be a lot of fun with different races. Paragons are holy, half-angel messengers and warriors of the gods of light. Kinda like a blend of paladins and clerics.

*nods along* Ok, that works just fine. And another group I was with had attack spells that you threw at people. Beanbags kept in a pocket that worked like a normal projectile weapon.

And I was thinking also limiting certain weapons to certain clans, and different clans having different handicap levels and so forth. Like a dwarf would be hardier than an elf, but an elf can use more spells. That sort of thing.

There probably won’t be much better of a place than that, I don’t think.

I see you’ve thought ahead. *nods* We’ll write up a rule sheet. Hang it up somewhere, so if there’s any conflict we have it to refer to.

Hm… doesn’t that make it no different than, say, a bow and arrow, though? Perhaps we could combine the two… a spoken incantation, then the throwing… would it be too complicated? I’ll think about it.

Ah, of course. Incidentally… do you think people will want to play orcs? They’re not very… intelligent, as a whole. It seems more like an NPC sort of thing, except I don’t know where we would find the volunteers… *frowns* How many members do we have so far?

-Of course I’ll be allowing combat! And I’m hoping to actually have a boffer-making tutorial meeting at some point… Anyway, it’s not really all of that fun if there’s only two clans. So I came up with six. Two are on opposite ends, but everyone else can be someplace in the middle.

I figured we could have Orcs, Paragons, Humans, Day Elves, Night Elves, and Dwarfs. I don’t know about what kind of combat rules to allow, especially for things like spells and weapon classes.

Good. That makes things more interesting. Hmm... I could help provide materials, but we'll have to get some money from the school.

I assure you, you can have plenty of fun with one race, if you know what you're doing. *smiles*

You'll have to explain Paragons a bit more to me later. And, keep in mind... the differences between the clans, besides ideology, may have to be mostly aesthetic. Combat rules can't be as complex as they are in tabletop games... After all, things must happen faster... thus, spells are fairly simple. Have people chant their incantations, and have them be at least five seconds long... and explain what they do in the process. "I send your soul to sleep", that sort of thing. We can tell people the exact spells they're allowed later.

*considers* Weapon classes... well, we could have only certain classes able to carry certain weapons which do more damage... weapon speeds will likely be to difficult to handle. The speed of the user will likely be the speed of the weapon. Rather than specific values, people will likely be able to take two or three hits until they are unconscious, more if they're wearing armour.

Where will we hold our games? The back field?

...Hm. That's... quite a bit you have to deal with. You may be starting a little too big. You're trying to build your own game? You may want to build on something else... it's easy to accept two clans fighting simply because they don't share the same ideals, but rules are harder... so you don't want this to be freeform? Underworld has a fantastic set of rules, but it's likely too complicated for our purposes...

*considers* Other than general rules, combat is likely the most important issue... Will you be allowing combat? I can provide boffers.

...Please, call me Kross. *wipes the sawdust off his hand and holds it out* I am, after all, only the supervisor... being the president, I would say your position is higher than mine. Now, what do you need?

Come to think of it, she didn’t know much about Kross. She knew his name, what he looked like, what subjects he taught…But she knew that about most of the staff. After all, it would be rude not to recognize one of your own workmates. So this made her curious. Where was his home, anyhow?

"Ah…Is that so? I know that feeling as well. But I’m sure that adjustments must take place sooner or later," Alisa said, shifting her feet. "If you don’t mind me asking, Mr. Melarque…Then, where is your home?"

"I see..." Kross nodded. "...I was born in a small village in Germany. I have not seen it for more than twenty years. I..." He looked around. "I think I've done enough for the night. It is a bit loud in here..."

As his voice trailed off, he left and disappeared into the crowd.

That was true. True, but somewhat confusing to Alisa. She had come here on the premise that there was need in the assistance of watching over the students, to make sure that everything was properly maintained and properly folded out. So far, that didn’t seem to be the case…Now that she thought about it, it almost seemed as if the staff was there simply for presence. Perhaps to assure the parents of the students that there was nothing to worry about. If only that was true.

Once she brought herself back down to earth from her thoughts, Alisa had released a light laugh, curled fingers gently pressed on her chin and in front of her mouth. “I could relate to that,” she replied, noting the rhythm, the lyrics, and everything else that had been pulled along and pasted together to form the songs that were being played throughout the night. “As I prefer less fast-paced and less…vulgar songs. As with dancing, haha, um, well…I suppose I can say the same thing.”

"It isn't a matter of preference... I simply never learned to dance to such things. When I was very little my mother would bring me to the village dances, but all the music was played by hand... nothing like this."

Strange? Was it really that odd for her not to drink? Perhaps she should—No, wait. Her principles were upright and strong. She…she wouldn’t consider it unless it was for the greater good. 

Though it was unfortunate that Kross seemed so unhappy and reluctant upon coming, Alisa had actually found it quite generous of him to attend. Sure, it might have been due to the fact that his job could have possibly been on the line, but still.

The librarian had also found her eyes on Leon, but she quickly looked away. He was shirtless! How improper for her to glance. Cheeks turning a slight pink from the short-lived view, Alisa cleared her throat and replied. “Oh…A-actually, to be a bit frank, I’m not exactly quite sure as to what we should be doing. Supervising and supervising only, or…?” She rubbed her thumbs against the side of her index fingers. “Ah, yes, I suppose that a bit of drinking is alright. But…just a bit, of course.”

Kross furrowed his brow at Alisa's flusteredness. What, was Leon too attractive for her delicate eyes, or something? Avoiding things that were vaguely sexual, in the same way she was avoiding the alcohol... perhaps it was some sort of religious principle.

"...Hm? Well, if we aren't here only to supervise, what else should we be doing? Drinking? Dancing? That's what some of the teachers are doing..." He thought about this. "What little I know of dancing wouldn't match these songs..."

"I’m perfectly fine, Kross. There’s no need to worry about me, I assure you."

Ignis sighed again, rolling the sleeves up on his dress shirt and walking to the back end of the tree. “This is for cleanliness purposes only,” he said, lifting up the tree and trying his best to not get stuck by branches.

"I'm not worrying, just... noting." He didn't have many friends either... though, at the least, he had a non-zero number of them.

Kross watched over his shoulder as Ignis worked. He didn't seem to struggle under the tree's weight, and Kross gave him an approving nod before beginning to walk forward. "You wouldn't happen to work out... would you?" He couldn't imagine Ignis taking so much time out of his busy schedule, and yet he wondered how his physical state hadn't completely deteriorated if he spent all his time doing paperwork

*gaze brightens a little* …So you are also interested in such things? Well, I have too many to list here, but perhaps I could tell you about some of the more recent ones, and a few favourites…

In one of my anthro groups I have a young woman named Natalie who is currently in heat, which is quite a bit of fun… she has very nice fur. I’m pleased with my decision to make her a calico.

Of course, I’m also in a more standard wild animal group, where I have Vajra the tiger… quite a menace, that one. *smiles slightly* I’m negotiating whether he’s allowed to eat one of the other characters at the moment… currently he’s only had a bite.

I also made one after the principal, just to see how far I could go with it. His name is Igneous Flame, and he hates everyone. He… ended up more popular than I expected, so it seems I’ll have to keep him around… *sighs*
