Adding the bevel 3D effect . I saw this originally from a twitter artist who draws a lot of anthro fish and I canāt find them anymore
FORGOT TO SAY but once the inverted vivid light layer is merged down with the second desaturated layer, set the result layer to overlay mode. Then adjust the opacity of it as you like on top of the original unchanged layer
I hope this was useful ! This is just how I draw unless Iām skipping the lineart step and just refining my sketch to go right to colouring
I think I mentioned once that during full moons it helps if a werewolf has something of their family member or friend, or a childhood stuffed animal, etc. for comfort. In the case that theyāre not on wolvesbane or they are but theyāre alone, an article of clothing from a loved one can help them sleep and feel less discomforted by the werewolf transformation
Thank you gravity and book for helping me decide the bg, it probably took me over an hour and cost me a decade off my lifespan
Bonus : like cats and dogs, wolves carry their pups by the loose skin at the backs of their necks, their scruff, and so do werewolves :}
Ofc this makes Harryās instincts very conflicted since Snapeās telling him to get off , stop being clingy, stop being close, but heās holding Harry like Harryās his kid ā¦ at least to Harryās werewolf brain ā¦

I donāt want Dogwood Snape to seem like a total asshole who doesnāt care about Harryās wellbeing at all so itās about time I touch up on his characterization some more , show more of how his blood thirst affects his interactions (or lack thereof) with Harry
In all my severitus stuff (What a Series!, Dogwood AU, the fics and the art) shame and conflicting desire comes up in it all. In Dogwood it appears in Harry wanting to be able to take comfort from Snape but being ashamed of needing it and afraid of making Snape uncomfortable , and Snapeās vampirism urging him to take advantage of Harryās vulnerability and need to drink his blood, fulfil his thirst, which he is afraid of doing for Harryās sake.
Heās disgusted by himself for feeling such urges, even when Harry says heād be okay with it, because he knows thereās such a chance that heāll lose control and accidentally bleed Harry out. He knows that he isnāt as strong as heād like to be, and that scares and disgusts him.
I think those themes come up so often in my work because I have intrusive thoughts myself; I know what itās like to have a thought thatās completely unlike you appear in your mind, and no matter how you shake your head and believe youād never act on it , you still fear a little that you will; youād do something you didnāt mean to do, something harmful or hurtful, and you canāt take it back.
So ofc I gotta give that problem to Snape since Harryās already suffering enough !
I confess I donāt have much experience drawing anything horror , but I hope this piece has the effect of looking unsettling instead of silly.
Idk if Dark Dogwood Snapeās design counts as uncanny valley or not since it seems pretty obviously wrong, while the whole uncanny valley is supposed to just be uncanny , subtle stuff thatās just a biiit stranger than whatās usual to make you do a double take. But I like how this turned out anyway
Harryās nightmares of Snape arenāt usually this scary; the typical recipe for them is 1. Snape gives Harry a false choice 2. the choice leads to Harry suffering 3. Harry has a way to end the suffering/should be able to ask Snape to end it 4. but he never can before he wakes up
Example: Harry finds himself stuck in his cupboard when heās supposed to be preparing ingredients for Snape, and has a panic attack. Snape gets him out of the cupboard, but Harry shouldnāt have been in thereā¦It was bad of him, to skip out on helping Snapeā¦and stopping his crying used up a calming draughtā¦and Snape hates it when he criesā¦so Harry ends up offering his going back in the cupboard as punishment. Snape agrees but doesnāt lock the cupboard door, so Harry can leave whenever he wants to. But he knows that Harry canāt until he himself lets him out, because only then will he have forgiven Harry.
It doesnāt make that much sense because itās still just a dream, after allā¦ but Snape doesnāt physically hurt Harry in them; he wouldnāt want to drink Harryās blood, so this piece is just for fun !

As i said before, Vox's dellusions protected HIM from the truth... and the truth quite literally destroyed his very soul.
Just one part left, it's not going to take long... and we're done... Well, there are of course additional scenes, and Alastor's recovery, but not right now. I think we all need to take a break from this.
If i hear one more comment about them SOMEHOW mending things and Al falling in love... i'm getting my shotgun. I don't have one, but i'll get it.

Cold-hearted AU: another non-human Severitus story
This is sort of an elaboration/exploration of my last art post idea, where itās akin to Dogwood AU in the way that Harryās a recently turned werewolf , and Snapeās a half vampire !
In this AU, Snape was actually attacked by Lupin in the shrieking shack (but since heās a vampire he wasnāt turned into a werewolf). After that his one goal was to cure lycanthropy. He stayed away from both sides during the war because the DE were getting werewolves to infect more people, and joining the Order would put a target on his backā¦ but he did run a brewing commission service to keep himself afloat and multiple times served the Order that way with healing potions.
Then Pettigrew overheard the prophecy from Trelawney and took it to Voldemort, who went and killed Harryās parents as usual before getting destroyed by the orphan.
Things unchanged from canon:
- Pettigrew still escapes as Scabbers, Sirius is still framed for his murder and is stuck in Azkaban
- Harry still has to live with the Dursleys because there are still Death Eaters out there who could want revenge on him for their dead Dark Lord, Harry needs the blood wards
- Snape still grieves Lily, maybe if he hadnāt been so focused on his lycanthropy research, he couldāve bothered to join the Order and help protect her ā¦
Differences from canon:
- Voldemortās just dead forever bc idgaf about Horcruxes rn, they donāt exist in this AU
- Snape isnt indebted to Dumbledore because he wasnāt the spy who overheard the prophecy , he doesnāt teach at Hogwarts , instead running his owl mail order brewing business out in the countryside while continuing his search for the cure for Lycanthropyā¦but itās difficult; no werewolf would trust anyone to use them a test subject, and even modifying wolvesbaneās recipe to be more accessible and easily brewed is thought impossibleā¦
- Snape is so busy, and Voldemort is dead, so the existence of Lilyās son slips from his mindā¦
And then one summer Dumbledore appears on Snapeās doorstep with eleven turning twelve year old Harry, who tried to run away from the Dursleys to the home of the friend he made at Hogwarts (Ron) and made it halfway before getting attacked by a werewolf.

A little bit about relationships between Alastor and Carmilla. First of, I think Carmilla does care about any overlord and considers them... well, not friends, but people that are worth to be worried about. After her family, of course.
And she does care about Alastor too, and she would even have a soft spot for him... if he wasn't acting like a feral brat first few years, being especially mad that Hell has some formalities and he was tricked into accepting them. That behavior killed that soft spot before it could grow.
Though, by now she's learning to handle Alastor and their "love language" is trolling each other, and Carmilla starts liking it, especially when she manages to get on Alastor's nerves with something that isn't paperwork.
So, she thought that Alastor would be insufferable about his new "partner" and decided to poke at it first, considering that she had to bring that up anyway. But Alastor's reaction wasnt' what she expected, at all. It set her off and she started looking closely at him...
Alastor didn't know Vox applied for being an overlord. If he knew, he probably said something different and Vox would've gotten a protege status. But Vox decided that he doesn't need to tell Alastor about it and that Alastor would tell how "good" he is, and they don't need to discuss it. When Carmilla crumpled that paper, Alastor understood what had happened. And like, There aren't many overlords at this point, it's been like 30 years since Alastor wiped out old folks, so they need more new overlords. And Carmilla didn't have any real reason to deny Vox's application. But she did anyway, because Alastor didn't want him here, and that fact kinda gave Alastor feeling that he has an ally. Like, Rosie is good and all, but she owns his soul and also fucked up the last time they've seen each other.
Not like Alastor is gonna tell anything to Carmilla, but the fact that him not wanting to see Vox is enough to deny a potential new owerlord is... comforting.
And Carmilla can see and understand much more than Alastor realises.
